I remember attending a UWM football game in 1973 or 1974.  I see 1974 was their last season before dropping it - I hope it wasn't something I did.

The new UWM AD has grand plans for virtually every sport.  Much grander than the taxpayers have funding potential  - by a ton (and alumni, too).  So I wouldn't hold my breath.

Their last game was in 1974 against UW-W. UWM won 26-14.

Though it probably won't happen, I would have mix fealings if UWM would rejoin the WIAC (or should I say the former WSUC). Considering Milwaukee is only ten minutes away from me, it would be very inviting for me to attend whitewater road games there. However, I'm crazy about a school that might steal away potential UWW recruits.  >:(

Some of the best QB's in the conference I ever saw were, from UWSP -  Reed Giordana ('76 & '77 POY) and Kirk Baumgartner ('88 & '89 POY) or Chris Charnish ('70 & '71 POY) & Al Charnish ('68 POY) from Platteville. Those Point QB's were absolute gunslingers before the word was invented to describe QB's...they could've played for today's U of Houston. I'm very interested who the conference will select as the All-Time WIAC QB.  There are many options available; many who I didn't mention, either.

I'd add Platteville's Tom Stetzer, Stout's Matt Bunyon and Point's Scott Krause to the list.  They were also exceptional talents.

I remember playing against Stetzer...dude could chuck a football. I never played against Krause as a redshirt but I know he could play some serious ball as well. What about a RB list? Who wants to get that going... 8-)

Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think UWM could be D3 in football IF (that's a BIG if) they were to restart the sport...unless all their sports reclassified. Only schools like Johns Hopkins with a D1 Lacrosse team and everything else D3 were grandfathered in.  Don't all new schools have to have all sports in the same division?  I'm not sure.  An exception would be Ice Hockey to a DII school since there is no DII Ice Hockey. Those schools would have to be DI.

Yea, I don't know how that would work either.

Yes. They cannot be D-III in football unless they want to be D-III in everything.

George Rainy... WHITEWATER
Andrew Mocadlo...LaCrosse

Maybe they didn't have the career numbers but two pretty decent running backs
Sartorelli nearly trampled me once when I was working the chains. ;D

BW- Good addition of George Rainey from the Dub. George followed Mike Miller.  Both Mike and George were very strong, tough and elusive runners. I admit i dont know who preceeded Mike, so from my history the UWW chain of great backs started here.

I don't know any of these guys before the Chad Wurth era.

So, the only thing I could contribute to this conversation was copying and pasting the WIAC's leading rushers from the WIAC website.

I remember there were some good debates about Moriarty and Beaver when I first joined these boards a few years back.

LMAO!  Can't stop laughing at this one, BW!   ;) ;D

Thanks, BDB. At least I was right on the weather. I stopped at a couple of taverns afterward, but could find no football crowd, not even RF people. I take it stoutguy was not among the present.

Fred, stoutguy is a myth around here. Only shows up every once in awhile. Although, he is going into the Stout Hall of Fame with the Distinguished Service Award next weekend. I believe he will show for that.  ;D

You probably know the guy, but I have to say, the PA announcer at River Falls is the best. And if memory serves, he's been doing it awhile.
Fred, I quit coming to the RF games because you always promised me beer but I always thought that meant you were buying and you never did.

Congrats Stoutguy

BDB, it looks like your Menominee HS football team will meet my Tomah Timberwolves (aka Indians to us old guys) in L3 action.  I'm hoping Tomah plays a tad better than the first time the two teams met in the first week of this season.
BW  Stop up Friday night if you are going to the MHS/Tomah game.  I'll put you on the radio and you can explain how a team we beat by 30 some early in the season has improved so much.  You can be my backup postgame interview because if Tomah wins, I won't want to talk to LaBuda.

Going back further, Greg Jones 1966 through 1969.  As far as I know, the only player who started every game for Perk for 4 years.  Drafted by the Denver Broncos.

Vilnis Ezerins was another from that era. Drafted and had a brief, 14 game career with the Los Angeles Rams in 1968.  My memory of him is a bit murky, however.  What do you remember, bp?
