Kris, who were our QB's? Dennis Bogaz was it when I was a freshman (21 years old). Who were the two after him that seemed to trade off the job? Nobdoy could nail it down.

Was one of them Bryan Pytleski? Or Dan Runaas?

Good Gawd ur good!

Indeed, that is the names of the two QB's! Thank you very much! We had such great athletes, a vicious defense, (except for Kubiak) ;), but our passing game could never get on track it seemed. :-[

I should smite you for that... but you put a winking smiley so I wont.

Adam Kowles -wishbone QB for UW-RF-WSUC Player of the Year in 1995- Very tough, quick, smart, and actually threw the ball quite well

Thanks for mentioning Adam -- played baseball with him in high school and he was a catcher who could hit and run well. For a decade or so, he was the top rushing quarterback in the history of Division III football.

Kris, you were just plain mean. Not vicious. That better? Good to see you are checking in. I threw that out that out there just for you!

Oshfb,
Also, I was studying the Oshkosh coaches career won-loss record (why? I don't know)  and something struck me.  Wanted to know your opinion.  Robert Kolf coached Oshkosh for 31 years (from '29 - '62 minus a couple years here and there) with 1 championship, 0 runners-up, 2 third places, and a bunch of years somewhere between 4th and 10th place in conference play. With the basketball facility named for him, he seems to be celebrated at UW-O. Is that mainly because of longevity because his coaching won-loss pct. was only 33.8%.  By today's standards, he wouldn't have lasted 31 years with that sort of record (IMO).
When Kolf was built, basketball might have been an afterthought.  Kolf Sports Center was built in 1971 as a Physical Education Center with the Indoor Track being built on the second floor.  The 1971 Indoor season saw Oshkosh win their first Indoor Conference Championship.

I would venture to guess that it was named after him Kolf due to being the Physical Education Director, and as a tribute to his service in World War II (which happened to be right in the middle of his coaching career) and the success he had as a track, basketball, and cross country coach.
2008-09 and 2012-13 WIAC Fantasy League Champion

Absolutely correct Cubs. Cubs got his material from these sites, I presume:

Hmm, 5 1/2 hours to Eau Claire or 45 minutes to North Central?

Looks like I'll be heading into enemy territory for some recon work.  It's hard to imagine the possibility that NCC or Wheaton could be out of the playoffs with a loss tomorrow.

I was checking out the OAC Pick-ems and saw their line for Mt vs BW.  BW is getting 27.5 points and most seem to be picking Mt.

Copy and Paste Bleedpurple:
"With all due respect to OAC fans, their conference simply isn't as physical or as good as the WIAC top to bottom...And in no slight to Mount,  if they were to endure the weekly physical pounding of a WIAC schedule, I don't think they run up as many blowouts they do in the OAC either."

Do some still consider the OAC as the 2nd best conference in the country?  The second best team in the OAC is a 27.5 point underdog to the first best team in the OAC.  I know, it's a point spread generated by a poster.  But that point spread is then posted to those that know the OAC better than any of us WIACers do- and probably better than any selection committee member does.  IMrepeatedO, no conference with such a gap between first and second is worthy of mention in the top 3 conferences in the country.

I'm not an OAC hater, but what's given to the OAC is taken away from perhaps a more deserving conference.  I wonder if another conference, say the CCIW or ASC (WIAC this year if Oshkosh didn't go and do that thing that they went and did) would have a better chance of sending a second (or third) team if their conferences were widely recognized as top 3?

I was looking at some things about the history of Oshkosh football. Do you know when they picked up the Titan nickname? It seemed like in the early days of Oshkosh Normal they were called the Normalites. Curious what they used for a mascot!  :-\

I was the mascot, silly. ;D

KitchenSink

What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!

I'm hoping modern technology allows for both- although if I need Adobe Flash I'm toast.
