02, is this Salisbury's actual logo or did your young son/daughter or niece/nephew draw it at the day care center?

Thanks for the write up...enjoyed reading!!  SU's colors look a lot like the U of M Golden Rodents - hope they play like them, too!!

;)

I actually think that the logo is pretty decent, it's something different from every other school with a bird as its mascot. It has the traditional Salisbury State sweater and a man-like seagull. Also, the maroon and gold is not all that bad (I bleed marroon and gold).

On another topic, Salisbury did not lead its conference in rushing. However, the team that did, is the leading rushing team in the nation (Springfield College).

Also, we do know what makes something laughable or amusing and what it takes to induce laughter or amusement. In addition, we have the ability to perceive, enjoy, or express what is amusing, comical, incongruous, or absurd. But laughing at a foolish joke is not one of them, we just pity that fool. ;D

So is it Salisbury or Salisbury State? No where on the Salisbury website does it say Salisbury State.

If it's indeed Salisbury State, then I have a lot of editing to do on my blog.  :-\

SU Backer

It was Salisbury State up until several years ago, when the school added master's programs, hence the University moniker...SU is a tough school academically and getting tougher to get into all the time...we have missed out on some players due to these standards, but I see that as a good "problem"...so anyway, back to your blog-good job and University is correct!

Oh, almost forgot-as far as busting on "Sammy" the Seagull logo....everybody knows webbed feet make you look bigger in pads....

You've been a good sport SUADC.  Come on though, didn't you laugh just a little with Bobo's comment about the Salisbury Seagul being a morphed Bucky Badger?

The bucket list one is funny. I like that one.  :)

Just a note for S U Backer. Most D III schools are Private Institutions and have fairly high academic standards. We have been over this many times with the WIACers, who do not seem to think this is a plus on their side. Neither do they believe that lower costs have any relevance in the recruiting of athletes.

I want to clarify my earlier post(s) regarding the possibility of either, or both Purps not making it to the Stagg. It will happen sometime. This year seems to be a year where, if scores are any indication, neither are blowing out opponents as they have in the recent past. This looks like as likely a time as any. Then again, maybe I'm like the weatherman who forecasts rain in the middle of a drought. Sooner or later, I will be right.

These facts also coupled with the fact that there are little to no FCS or D2 schools in Wisconsin also gives those schools an advantage.

KitchenSink

Oh, brother, here we go with that "advantage" crap again.  Been debunked before, guess it is time again.

How about the disadvantage having only 100 players when many, many others have 200?
What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!

SU Backer

Just to be clear...Salisbury is not a private school...it is a public school and part of the Maryland University System...and the tuition is reasonable for in-state students.  It is also reasonable for New Jersey kids due to in-state tuition in NJ being high, thus allowing SU to recruit there successfully. I hope my comment was not mis-construed as a knock on any school, public or private, regarding academic performance. I don't buy some folks argument in thinking that public schools are academically inferior to private schools. Public schools by and large have great academics, just like many private schools. Obviously there are exceptions, but easy academics and low tuition are not the reason that Whitewater nor Salisbury are meeting in this game. They are here because they have earned their way here, through hard work. In watching some film, I think we may be a season away from being ready for this challenge, but of course I hope I am wrong!

413- if I tailgate as well as I've practiced this week, I should be in line for TG MVP.

Bobo- absobobo****in lutely warhawks eat gulls. More thought should be put into nature's food chain by schools when selecting mascots.
Hmmmm, a tailgate challenge....WarhawkDad tailgates pretty well as well.  I agree though on nature's food chain, things with feathers can be roasted, fried, baked or even put in a smoker.   :D 8-)  And the good news is that Hawks and Eagles are usually federally protected!   8-)

02warhawk, nice write up on the game.  As far as UWW replicating what Wesley did in the Salisbury game on defense, I would expect them to be able to do that.  The one advantage that Wesley has over most teams against Salisbury is the familiarity with the offense.  Wesley has defeated Salisbury the last 6 or 7 years.  Of the 220+ rushing yards that the Seagulls got, one was on a 50+ yard run for a td.  The other TD came on a 60 + yd pass against the weak part of Wesley's d, the secondary.  Looking at the pass defense numbers for UWW, Salisbury may decide to throw the ball more, they did that against Wesley.  Since I believe that UWW has a better defense than Wesley I expect them to win this game, possibly rather easily if Salisbury turns the ball over which they have been known to do.  I think that Salisbury will have trouble stopping UWW if they gave up 34 to Kean, not the best offense you would see and not close to what UWW will bring to the field.

I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

Wesleydad, good to have you around.  Unbelievable comeback against Linfield- you must be fired up.
I would think Salisbury sees opportunities in the passing game as well vs UWW.  The trick for them though is to pass infrequently enough to ensure the element of surprise.
I'm curious what your thoughts are for Wesley-MHB.  This is a tough one for me to figure as it seems Wesley is a different (and better) offensive team with the running QB.  Add in MHB's increased focus on passing and this game should be very interesting.
