How about they give away tickets to students? That should guarantee a big turnout, right?   ::)    ;D

I doubt it. UWW is pretty much a suitcase college. Especially since it's the last weekend before finals, there's not enough students around to produce a big turnout (unlike Family Weekend). The well lubricated students would attend at least the first half, but most students will find indoor locations to watche the game.

Yea, I know....based on my emoticons, I tried my best to sound sarcastic.

I and a couple of friends, who I have converted to D III fans, plan on going to the Coyote prior to the game too. I will wear my St John's hat, so you can throw things at me.

This will be the toughest game for either team this season. By far.
I guess the game against Oshkosh where the Ttians led or were tied for all but four minutes wasn't much of a test for the Warhawks?  ;D

Oshkosh was a big test, but UST is better in my opinion.

If UST is better than Oshkosh, whom only lost to UWW by 3 points, then I would be worried if I were a UWW fan (only as a fan, not as a player). That leaves, technically, only 1-2 points room for margin of victory, depending on how much better UST is than UWO.

Common Opponents (for whatever it is worth)
St. Thomas defeats UWRF 45-22 on 9/10 at UWRF
UWW defeats UWRF 42-10 on 10/8 at UWRF

Should be a great game...best of luck to UWW.

Why would we do that?  Based on what I've read, a Johnnie fan is usually wired to cheer against St Thomas.  So we would be blood brothers of a sort (for 1 week, anyway).
What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!

I guess that would make Gustavus tied with St. Norbert's as the second best team UST has played this year.

Here's the release from UW-Stevens Point...

http://athletics.uwsp.edu/mobile/index.aspx?story=3356

He says he plans to stay on and teach until the end of the academic year before pursuing other football opportunities. I also wonder what it means for his wife Sheila the very successful women's soccer coach.

From the rumblings I heard around the university is he was forced out by the new AD.

From what I've heard "forced out" sounds too strong, but "choosing not to adjust to a new boss" seems closer to accurate to me.

Ya know, that's one of the great things about former AD Frank O'Brien... he was able to manage some pretty powerful personalities... of which Miech, Jack Bennett, and Shirley Egner were/are certainly three.  One could argue that their personalities were part of their successes and it's hard to argue against the over-all athletic success at UWSP being driven by the man at the top, O'Brien...

That isn't to say that the success wouldn't have happened with someone else at the head of the department, but it would have been a different culture (which, it could be argued, is the place at UWSP now).

I'm not nearly as close to the department as I was a few years ago and ceratinly several years ago as a part of it, so I can't speak to that... It sounds like JB might have a better feel on the pulse under the new AD.

Oshfb- are you being crafty here :-\ ?
Since I know that you know that we know that Oshkosh is a totally different style team and therefore, the closeness of that game isn't a good measuring stick for predicting this week's results- I'm wondering if perhaps you aren't trying to make some other point about the mighty Titan?

The Titan should have been in St John Fisher's spot if they had only taken care of business at home.

And just like that the coaching search at UWSP is over. They apparently named defensive coordinator Tom Journell the head coach. Journell was formerly the head coach at Elmhurst.

At a state school that's lightning fast. In fact, I didn't even know it was possible to name someone to a job that quickly without making them interim first.

got that right....

Seriously???  UWW has won how many games in a row and has been to how many straight stagg bowls? Live a little. Not saying UST can't win I'm just saying that if you're worried at this point I fear for your mental health if UWW ever comes back down to earth to play at the level of the rest of us mortals.

+k  ;D

I very much believe in enjoying the ride. Warhawk fans must remember that when "The Streak" ends, it won't mean an end to the program.  If the loss happens in the playoffs, we will likely be in the same position, playing another huge game, the very next year.  In the meantime, enjoy this! I know the players would NEVER read this board, but in case a friend of a friend reads it, the players need to know that a loss will not mean the season was a failure. Even without the 6 straight Stagg appearances, THIS YEAR alone has been an incredible ride.  To the friend of a friend, I say, tell your friend who knows the kid on the team to tell him: Go out and focus, leave it all on the field, have a BLAST, and pound the rock!!  ;)

Oh, 43 and 6!  ;D

I appreciate your concern for my wellbeing. Don't get me wrong, I have been enjoying this seven-year ride immensely. However, the competitive nature in me wants to win everything I pour my heart into. This being no exception.
