I appreciate your concern for my wellbeing. Don't get me wrong, I have been enjoying this seven-year ride immensely. However, the competitive nature in me wants to win everything I poor pour my heart into. This being no exception.

Corrected!!  Those homophones are killers to a writer, right 02?

WashedUp - I'm no linguist, but "the" and "thee" - linguistically-speaking, are they homophones? I don't really know.

In this sentence it probably wouldn't be, since there is a word starting with a consonant following. But it can be when followed by a vowel ("thee apple").  Plus, it's listed on homophone.com, which I'm assuming has the final say on the subject.

Congratulations Coach Sulages and all the players recognized for All-West Region honors.  That's one thing the coaches in Saturday's semi-final game have never managed to win. Coach Johnson from Bethel has won it twice since '07.

We often look at our regional coach of the year awards as a measure of outcome vs. expectations. St. Thomas and UW-Whitewater have lived up to expectations, as measured by the preseason poll.

It sounds like, being a regional award, it's an opportunity to recognize a coach who did an excellent job, but not necessarily on the platform of the national stage. I have no problem with that at all.  I have no doubt that whichever coach gets where he wants this year will be highly considered for an even greater honor.   ;)

I get the distinct feeling that I'm the butt of some folderol here.

Keep in mind that in 2006, St John's had a lead in the second half, and fell 17 - 14. If my memory serves, other than the mighty UMU, that was the closest game in the last 7 year Playoff run UWW has had. I would take UST as a formidable opponent based just on the year in - year out strength of the MIAC. They may not beat the Warhawks, but I think they are very capable of doing so, and that it would not be considered a big upset.

I would be VERY surprised if anyone here DOESN'T think St. Thomas is a formidable opponent. I think it would be considered a HUGE upset by some and not an upset at all by others (probably, maybe somewhere).  There are probably a lot of people that land where you seem to: UW-W is the favorite, but a St. Thomas win would not be much of a surprise.

No breaking news here: You can count me as one who will be VERY surprised if the Tommies pull it off.  No disrespect to them AT ALL.  I just believe in the Warhawks, that's all.

I just watched the video Voice posted with Mark Rosen of WCCO interviewing the Saint Thomas coach and their center.. The dude is huge!! And the clip of their game last week, it looks like they are a "big" team.....We will have our hands full.... But they will too...

Interesting thing about that: Caruso was a d3 center too although he looks almost tiny compared to his player.
