Olinemom,
We will be at the big game and with all the recommendations from eveyone about the Stone Station tailgate party and your brownies, we definitely plan to stop by.  We tailgated with some terrific Linfield fans who were very kind and fed Bar-B-Que to several WW parents before the game.  Can't wait for the brownies.  Of course, they have a "special" ingredient.  It is called, "CHOCOLATE!!!'  My motto, if is not chocolate, it is not desert!!! ;) ;) ;)  Thanks for the kind invitation and the Hawk support!!  Kudos to O-lineman everywhere!   Without them, nobody goes anywhere!!!

Isn't that the truth and they never seem to get any respect, any press.  But those flashy backs and QBs would be flat on their backs without the OLiners!!  And that's a fact you can take to the bank!!!  If you like chocolate, it's the triple chocolate Ghiradelli with the Godiva that you'll be wanting to try.  Is it tme for predictions already?  I say WW 42 MUC 21.  Both teams certainly deserve to be there.  I just think WW has had to play a harder route to get there.  No letdowns I hope!!!

Got any "Special" Brownies?

Depends on what you mean by special.  If you mean with illegal ingredients, then no.

It'd be a lot cooler if they did!

Little foosball? Alright!!

Wisconsin is cool enough, methinks.  And, after all, I have a real job.  I teach so I have to be good!    Within reason, of course.

.......this is the year of the Hawks.  I cant wait until the game is over and we can celebrate, take a deep breath and look back on the most memorable season in school history.  These men have made several alum, fans and families very proud.  Just think........next year could be just as explosive.......

Hmmm, sounds like you're counting the same unhatched eggs that Linfield was counting all season ;D
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

Eagle Cynic

Mt Union Offense:
As of two years ago and every year prior to that they had a very predictable offense, but well executed.  I haven't seen them play this year but I'm pretty sure they didn't change the system that works so well.
So here's the secret!

They run routes to the field.  On every pass play they will have 1-4 route runners.  They will always catch the ball on the numbers or on the hashes.  They will not, repeat will not catch the ball running up the center of the field or anywhere else  besides the hashes and the numbers.

Get the linebackers to knock them off the hashes and have the corners squeeze them off the numbers and they will be completely out of rhythm.  3's if your still out there check out some film and back me up on this.

I don't really remember the running game as a DB I didn't care much.  I do remember that if the receiver's alignment looks sloppy, it's a running play.  They will line up consistently on all pass plays, running alignments will be any which way and look obviously different.

They will come out with fire on special teams so they better be sound.  And coming out strong after turnovers either way will be the key to the game.

Hit em and Hit em hard WW!

hscoach,

Hey they're just excited...I mean they did beat the best team in the country a few weeks back and now they have their coronation this weekend as the new D-III champs.

It's youthful exuberance.

Pat,
Looking at his rushing stats through the year, I think it is a guarantee he gets 100+.  The weird thing is, he did not get any P.T. in their first game against st. norbs.  the next game was his lowest output of the season @ 110.  The only way he does not get it is by injury.

Or if MUC chooses to focus on stopping the run and forcing the pass. MUC D is only allowing 80.5 YDS a game.

Oh, please, please, please,   let MUC focus on stopping the run and forcing the pass.........

      Jacobs                    3246 Yards passing
      Stanley                  1229 Yards recieving
      Leszczynski           1124 Yards receiving

And Beaver didn't play in the first game of the season.  Resting a tweeked hamstring from camp.  Still won 47-3 without him.  Too bad, if he had played, he would own that rushing record already!!
Or if momentum changes early due to turnovers or other circustances that puts WW behind and they have to pass more than normal.

If my memory serves me correct, your Stagg bowl winning teams in 02, and runner up in 03. Could not stop us from getting a 100 yds rushing, and wed were completely one dimensional. Why do you think you could stop a better RB in a better offense? Is this team better then those?  I don't think MUC D is going to be able to stop the UWW Offense.

Whitewater 43   MUC  13

This team's defense is better than those teams IMO.

Your prediction of 43 points is way the heck out there in never -never land.  Not gonna happen.

I will not deny the fact that MU monkey stomped whitewater in 2002 and 2003. However in 2002 there was a story in the papers in Wisconsin that the warhawks beat the point spread which someone placed on the game in Vegas.
Here is a question for the Monekystomp board. If you beat the spread does that negate the monkey stomp?
Grant it I am not sure how many times a year there is a spread on a d3 regular season game. But there was one on the MU vs. UWW game in 2002.
Just wondering.
Finally I know this fact has already been pointed out. However this warhawk team is by far better then the 2002 and 2003 team's Just look at the offense, a record setting QB two record setting Wide receiver's and a RB who is only a junior and hadn't seen any major PT until this year, who will break the NCAA rushing record Saturday.
Not to forget about the hawks defense, but they just get better with every game they have played since coach Borland took over, and this year is no different.
The deciding factor will be turnovers who gets them and more importantly who commits them.
This is the real Stagg bowl, and this is the only one that counts. Win your the champs, lose, and your just another victory for the winning team.
Go Warhawks

There is never a spread on D3 games in vegas.  Maybe on some of the pick em boards but not vegas.  I have checked.

I really like these people who warn us fans that we better be careful and not be too cocky or we will get beat. We don't play, and we don't coach. What difference does it make what we say or do.

Every d3 fan in the world knows about MUC. They have only been the best team in the division for a decade or better(with just a few little slips). A bad year for them is not winning every game.

Thanks for the warning anyway, but WW fans trust our coaches and players to be prepared, and we'll sit back and watch and be proud, win or lose.
If you can't ignore an insult, top it; if you can't top it, laugh it off; and if you can't laugh it off, it's probably deserved.

janesville-- Agree 100% with the exception that we didn' t  win every game this year and it's still not bad ;)    wildcat11-- Linfield had a great team, but if they were the best, they would not be at home 8)

b4,

fine....I'll just have to settle on Linfield being the 2nd best team in the country.

That's just board speak for... "We're such-and-such, respect us, agree with our opinions, kiss our behinds or we'll smite you."

Even if MUC is a top 15 defense in the country, Beaver will get 90 yards, barring injury or a blowout (which will not happen). He's too good of a back to be stopped for all four quarters.

You will see this a lot on Saturday where he gets stuffed for a one yard loss, gain two yards on his next carry and another two on his next. Then all of a sudden he bursts for three straight 20 yard gains.

MUC should relish this chance to shut him down and keep him under 90. Tall task but possible.

If it happens look for Jacobs to launch 45 times.

lilpeds

Ii've heard of a few game plan scenerios for Whitewater. I was just wondering what everyone thinks the game plan for Mount Union will be. Will they just do what they've been doing all year offensively, or concentrate on the passing game or running game more than the other?

What about defensively? Will they put 8 men up to try and stop Beaver and trust their DB's one-on-one with the wideouts? Or let Beaver get his and stop the passing game.

Just wondering.

If it were me, which its not and obviously why I'm not a coach, I'd put 8 men up and blitz a backer every time (or play a Cover 2 look and bring a corner or safety), making sure that if Jacobs does throw he has some pressure on him. He'll throw a few up for grabs. Either way the run would be, for the most part or course, covered. Letting Jacobs sit in the pocket (or out of the pocket for that matter) is lethal for MUC.
