so instead of "favorites", would "favored" be a better word to use?

Actually, I wasn't addressing either you are Emma with my "favorite" diatribe. I was simply reinforcing what most have already said: Who is favored and by how much will not mean a thing on Saturday.

I think Retagent has laid out a great game plan for you this week. Now it's up to you to execute it!  ;)

Ha....I'm actually not that bad. I was more nervous last week leading up to the St. Thomas game. The fact that we made it to the Stagg Bowl has settled my nerves a little bit...I'm really just happy the team got here. That's a huge accomplishment in itself.

Of course, it'll be great if they can win it too. But I won't be too upset if they don't.

02, please start worrying   8-) !   I don't want anything to change.  ;D I have been to busy with work and finalizing travel details to really start analyzing this game. I am just so proud of this team, the coaches, and all associated.  Really looking forward to being at the game.

I watched the Wesley-Mount replay and a couple of things stood out to me.  First, Wesley was pretty successful running the ball right at Mount. Both with the QB and the RBs.  Second, Wesley was quite successful throwing the ball against Mount, especially the deeper and longer developing routes.  When Mount had the ball, it seemed Piloto usually had lots of time to throw the ball.  It seems like he takes a long time to deliver the ball with his throwing motion.  When Wesley put pressure on him it definitely affected his accuracy.  I think we saw this last year in the Stagg.  Piloto will make some mistakes if the Hawks put pressure on him.

Danny Woodhead?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Danny_Woodhead

"Danny Woodhead (born January 25, 1985) is an American football running back for the New England Patriots of the National Football League (NFL). He was signed by the New York Jets as an undrafted free agent in 2008. He played college football at Chadron State.

Woodhead set several NCAA college football rushing records, including single season rushing and all-time rushing. In 2006 and 2007, he won the Harlon Hill Trophy, awarded to the best player in NCAA Division II, making him the third player to win the trophy twice in its history (the other players are Johnny Bailey and Dusty Bonner). On October 6, 2007, Woodhead became the NCAA all-time, all-division leading rusher. Woodhead held this record until it was broken by Mount Union College running back Nate Kmic on December 13, 2008."

BTW, how many yards does Coppage need in this game to break Kmics record?  Haven't been paying attention the last few weeks.

Too many

Like 300-400...or something like that.

I think Coppage needs something like 370 yards.  It would be great if he did it because I'm pretty sure it would translate into a WARHAWK national championship.  However I think the odds are long.

A sad note to pass along this morning....

Former UW-Whitewater All-Conference linebacker and team captain Art Gutierrez lost his battle with cancer yesterday.

A group of Art's former UW-Whitewater football teammates took the motto "once a Warhawk-Always a Warhawk" to heart by forming the Cure 54 Foundation in support of Gutierrez's second battle within a year with cancer. The group of former teammates took the lessons learned in the Whitewater football program into real life.

You can be sure that Art will be the Warhawks biggest cheerleader on Friday vs. Mount Union.

Rest in Peace Art

Just got done listening to Coach Lance Leipold on the Tim Brando Show, and he did a fabulous job!  Didn't know this, but Coach Leipold was the first coach to send a team helmet to Brando to be displayed in his radio studio, which has now become a regular bit on the show ("Who sent in the helmet?").  Good for him, and go Warhawks!
The artist formerly known as Carl Spackler... it's nice to be back!

So incredibly sad to hear.  My thoughts and prayers go out to the Gutierrez family.  With all the winning we have experienced, I am most proud and appreciative of the way the Warhawk family has showed such amazing support to their former players who have had to fight this hideous disease.

Thanks 02. Oldtimers has set in. I thought that Woodhead surpassed Kmic, not the other way around.

As I said before, if you're not worried, you don't care.

I find it amazing, though, that almost 70%, as of last check, believe the Warhawks will win. I doubt if there has ever been a margin such as this against UMU.  I think, in 2003, over 85% thought Mount was going to beat St John's. I'm just sayin'................

Sakman 1111

It makes me nervous.....I don't think we have ever been the favorite against Mount Union let alone 2 touchdowns plus.....something to worry about.....but to be honest if everyone plays like they did against the Tommies I don't believe anyone can beat us in Division 3.......Pound the Rock.....

I'm sorry to hear. Prayers for his soul and for his family.
