marginal QB led WW to 5 consecutive playoff wins in 2011 including national championship victory over UMU.  U R correct, the sky is falling here in Whitewater.
Oh voice, I can pretty much guarantee that Skunks had his tongue planted very firmly in cheek when he wrote that post.   :)

Ummmm......yah.   ::)  The way the QB play has been going over here in Raider land, I would be happy to make a trade straight up for Brekke.  We will give you either/both of our seniors-to-be.   ;)

Enough of this silence.
I'll start a 2012 outlook-prognostication thread.

I would not be surprised to see UWW with a higher scoring offense in 2012.  I know we are losing a great, great group of senior starters in Coppage, Blanchard, Allemand, Olson, Robinson and Ford.  My theory is this:  I believe there was more uncertainty in the offense for 2011 than in almost all of the 6 previous years given the change over in the offensive line and receiver corp.  I believe the uncertainty led to a greater degree of conservative play calling, especially given the play making ability of Coppage and Blanchard.  In effect, I think the always looming "big play" possibility of Coppage along with Blanchard's ability to pick up first downs via the run led to fewer chances taken on the offense.  Granted, Huber had his share of big plays and TD's, but I'm convinced he could have had monster numbers if it was in the game plan.  I also think the other receivers are really, really good and could have also had big numbers.  But again, the presence of Coppage and Blanchard fed into the staff's desire to limit turnovers and win field position (which I am not complaining about).

In 2012, the big play ability of Coppage will be gone as well as the athleticism of Blanchard.  I believe the offense will likely be more diverse.  As such, I believe we will see more points scored because this team has a lot of talent with a pretty good core of Olinemen coming back- and a defense that is young and fast.

Good to see you in person Friday night and it was fun tipping a few, along with #53 family and talking about the 2011 season and the potential of the 2012 season.   I have a strong tendency to agree with you regarding our offensive potential in 2012.   And our defense will be even stronger, especially the secondary in 2012.   Hope to see more of you this offseason.

Great to see you and the group as well WarhawkDad.  That was a welcome surprise and future get togethers sure would be fun and a great way to keep the 2011 memories fresh and the excitement for 2012 going strong.
Hmmmm, got me thinking.  Maybe the FIB's should plan an outing here at a sports bar in a central location to raise a glass to the 2011 champs.  I have been known to tailgate, belly up to the bar, now and again.  Just don't expect me to use my, "indoor voice."   ;)  Was planning to try and get together with 15's family anyway.  You boys in?  As the, "gender-challenged," one of the group, I'll do the organizing, of course.   ;D

Did you say raise a glass, belly up and football?  I'm in.
Indoor tailgate?  ;D  We are in, obviously depending upon the date!  If you talk to 15's family wish them a Happy New Year, please.   We are fairly open on weekends.   The place that we all were in last week in Palatine works well.  We know the proprietor so can probably arrange some tables reserved.   Corner of Quentin and Route 14.

Leipold named AFCA Coach of the Year

Congrats Lance.

Extremely well deserved.  IMO this is one of the best coaching performances, maybe the best, of the entire run.  The UWW staff "coached up" the inexperience and did a great job in preparing the next man up for the injured positions.

Ahh, UWW recruiting going on full speed now. The future Warhawks are for the first time meeting coaches, watching Warhawk highlights and dreaming of their own key contributions to ongoing success.

I can still remember my recruiting trip to Whitewater....what a blast.  Oh and the school was nice too. ::)

The recruiting trip was nice, but I really enjoyed orientation weekend (well, some parts of it).  Let's see, I was oriented with McGillicuddies, The Pumping Station, Mitchells, The College Pub ...

I agree with BW...WRs and defense will not be UWW's concern heading into the 2012 season.

My biggest concern is at the QB position. Hopefully Brekke has learned alot since his Stagg Bowl run in 2010.

He's undefeated and we have very good QB's battling him too.

I'm most intrigued about the RB position. Do we have an open field threat like Coppage and Beaver?

Yea, he's undefeated....but that can be attributed to great defense and handing the ball off to Coppage in playoffs.

You are funny- you're like glum "oh no, we'll never make it".
You're right that Brekke wasn't asked to do too much BUT- in each of the last three playoff games he had to make huge plays. Vs NCC his passes to Brandes in first quarter were huge plus a TD run. Vs Wesley again big passes to Brandes to answer Wesley's TD. Against Mt- huge passes to Brandes and Huber in second quarter to answer Mt run.
He made some great plays in all the playoff games so I'm VERY confident in him.

I hope you're right....if we can get strong QB play with that returning defense, Mount Union's 11th national title will have to wait another year  ;)

right skunks??!?!

02,

While UWW will be strong again in 2012, graduating your top skilled positions on offense may take more than one year to recover. The Raiders chances in 2012 still look good despite the 3 pt loss in the Stagg.

Coach Kehres will have better QB play in 2012,so we'll see how it unfolds! :)

68- you worry too much about the Warhawks (kind of like 02-although I think he may be coming around).  By now, I'd think the 7 Stagg Bowls should have given you a pretty good idea that UWW wins with a system.  We lose some great players, but we don't lose the system.
