We have fib jokes and they have the cheesehead thing.  Seems like an even draw to me.  ;D

In the FIB vs. Cheese discussion it reminded me I came across an old Justin Beaver highlight video the other day.  Coppage has been so great for 4 years that it's easy to forget just how good Beaver was.  I'd have a real hard time picking between the two if I had to select a #1 back.
Despite my reluctance to ever pick against a player wearing #33, I am on record previously of choosing #32 in this impossibly close, hard-to-call option.  Coppage is amazingly elusive and certainly Justin's equal in every way, but I have always been a fan of the power back style of running so I just loved how powerful AND elusive Beaver was.  Justin was a nightmare to slow down when he found a gap or in the open field but he also could create his own yards by blowing up a defensive player, or several, when necessary.  I was a huge fan of Kyle Mayhugh's power back style back in the day during the Chad Wurth years but I totally understand that my views could be considered just a little biased toward my son's former teammate.  ;) It is really like trying to decide between a Cadillac and a BMW.  UWW has certainly been blessed in this position during this incredible run, no doubt.  And the quality of our OL's during this period can not be overstated.  They have created holes many times that even I could have run through.   ;) ;D

BTW, I was told that FIB is a, "term of endearment."   ;D

Personally I just glad that I don't have to pick.  The WARHAWKS have a long history of outstanding running backs which goes back even further than I do (trust me that's a long time) but these two are probably the best of the whole lot.  I can't wait to see the next in line.

And I'm with 413 and several others when I say a lot of the credit goes to the offensive lines these and other WARHAWK running backs have played behind.  You don't turn out the level of running backs we've had without the horses up front.

It is really like trying to decide between a Cadillac and a BMW.

In my view, Beaver would be a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle 454 SS - nearly 7.4 liters of outrageous power - Cadillac? Too fancy; both of them are more like muscle cars - speed and power - and a nightmare & a headache rolled into one when they are coming straight at you!!

I'll come out and say it...I enjoyed Coppage just a TAD better (not by much though). He didn't have the size/strength Beaver did, but I think he was slightly faster in the open field, and was a little more ellusive to would-be tacklers. Coppage danced around them, while Beaver just lowered his shoulder.

I could be a little biased given that Coppage was from IL.

Not sure if this was already mentioned on here...but former UWSP WR Jared Jenkin's is playing this season for the Milwaukee Mustangs AFL team.

Coppage has really deceptive strength for his body frame.  He's a lot stronger than he looks. A lot of defenders found that out the hard way!!  ;)

And that explains, in a nutshell, why I vote the other way, given my appreciation for contact and the defensive side of the ball.   ;)

Abstain from choosing between Coppage and Beaver......can't do it....Appears that another really excellent FIB running back coming to Whitewater but as BadgerWarhawk says we will see who is there in August.....

Like 413, for me choosing one or the other is more a matter of preference of style and not thinking one might be better than the other.

I think it's really cool that each had a memorable Stagg Bowl performance.  Like Bobo said, the hit that Beaver put on #6 at the end of a BIG run will always be in my memory- as well as many of the other runs that game where he refused to go down.  Coppage's yardage in 2010 and especially the 3rd and 6th run to seal the game will also stay with me.

Come on next guy.

From footballscoup.com:

"Wisconsin Stevens Point: Stevens Point has posted the job to ensure compliance with state laws; however word out of Wisconsin is that this is a formality. As you know, back in December long-time and highly successful head coach John Miech stepped down and Tom Journell was named head coach."

Word is that UW-Whitewater long snapper Casey Casper is drawing plenty of interest from a number of NFL teams.

Former NFL special teams coach Gary Zauner recently concluded his third annual Senior Specialist's Combine in Arizona.

A total of 64 specialists attended this year's Zauner Senior Specialist's Combine and, from that group, Zauner concluded that 21 of them have NFL potential, including nine long snappers.  Among the nine listed is Casey Casper.

Check out the story posted tonight on the Warhawkfootball.com News Wire

BoBo, 413, 02, bleedpurple, BadgerWarhawk, Emma, other UWW supporters,

IF there was a poll on which UWW RB was the best, how would the poll be out of say 100 pollsters, Beaver or Coppage? And who would come in third? :)

I don't know how the Coppage/Beaver poll would turn out.  It would probably be close though.  For third I'll toss out 3 names in no particular order.

Add a couple more to that list, Spencer Johnson and George Rainey.  I can only hypothesize what one or more of these guys might've accomplished with the offensive lines Beaver and Coppage had working in the trenches in front of them. They might be thought of in the same way or nearly the same way.

I wish the poll question had a third choice - equal. IMO, picking one over the other can't be done - I think it's a dead heat in a photo finish.

Raider 68, would Kmic be the favorite in a similar poll among Mount fans?
