Ward and Stanford should be good but hopefully another FIB running back could be on the Warhawk horizon for next year.....but as Badgerwarhawk says we will see who reports in August......Pound the Rock......

thoughts?  I took all returning rb's from the WIAC indy stats page and included Ward bc he will get all the carries Coppage had in the past.

???   ::)

Desmin Ward will probably get NONE of the carries Coppage had in the past!!  LOL

This proves how a simple stat sheet can be misleading and worthless in trying to predict the future.

IF he returns, I imagine he's third on the returning players depth chart behind Byron Stanford and Colton Sweitzer. I bet Kominiko Sila gets more carries in '12 than Ward!!

I believe Dez Ward will bring a lot to the table for the Hawks this season

He looked very over-weight, out of shape, and extremely slow last year the few downs he played. He had a few yards in games early in the season, but why was he basically a no-show during the playoff run last year? He has a LOT of improvement to do for me to be a believer.  I don't mean to be harsh, but that's the way I saw it from afar last year.

The question of who will get the carries this year is intriquing to say the least.  It's really hard to imagine that there won't be at least one new name that pops up when the season starts.  Voice is close to the team so I'm going to assume he has seen something in the off season to feel Ward will bring a lot to the table given his tail off last year.

The inaugural Wisconsin Sports Awards program is slated for tonight at the historic Wisconsin Club, 900 W. Wisconsin Ave. in Milwaukee.

Wisconsin native John Anderson, known to sports fans through his work on ESPN's "SportsCenter" and on ABC-TV's "Wipeout" will serve as master of ceremonies for this star-studded, invitation-only event.

More than a dozen awards will be presented during the two-hour program, which honors the best performances during 2011 at the high school, collegiate and professional levels.

UW-Whitewater football is well represented in the nominees.   Lance Leipold (for College Coach of the Year), Levell Coppage (College Player of the Year) are among the UWW nominations

Fox 6 in Milwaukee did a cut-a-way segment to the red carpet in front of the Wisconsin Club.  In the shot was Levell, looking stylish, posing for pictures.

I'll have an update later this evening...

I hear Stanford and Ward got most of the carries during Spring ball.  I also understand there are several transfers that have been touring campus over the last couple weeks, at a variety of positions, no commitments yet.  You just have to see who shows up in August.

Lots of sightings and rumors during UWW's spring practice.  We'll know more when players officially report to Fall practice in mid-August. Until then "my lips are sealed" blog and Website wise.  Sorry!!

Matt Blanchard gets some props for his performance at the Chicago Bears mini-camp this week in the article on Alshon Jeffery.

This is really cool!  Such a great picture and opportunity for Matt!  Tear it up, Buddy!

No better way to remind free agents and rookies that they're expendable at a moment's notice, then by putting their name across the front of their helmet with athletic tape. Almost says "Our coaching staff isn't even going to bother remembering your name for now." Good metaphor for just how tough it is to do what these guys are doing. Best of luck to all of them.

I'd pay serious greenbacks to have Blanchard "mic'd" up for this rookie camp.
Maybe he's explaining to Jeffrey how Rusch would have run the route w greater precision.
