Good luck UWW this weekend and safe travels to all who are going. If you run into any NCAA officials while in Salem, why don't you lobby for a change of venue for the Stagg whenever the deal with Salem runs out. I mean, the Salem people are really nice and friendly but, if you have the pleasure of watching your favorite team play into December, wouldn't you rather be going to So. Fla., Ariz. or So. Cal.?

Perhaps those who could afford it would.  As for me, I rather prefer Salem.  It's a wonderful facility, full of great, helpful people who know how to put one of these functions on.  I'm frankly tired of everything having to be in Florida or California.  DIII football is not about glitz.  It's about kids who still want to play, who have ability, but don't get paid to play.  They come from west Pa., northern Wisconsin, the hills of West Virginia, Oregon, you name it.  Why do we have to be like DI and try for glamorous.  It adds to the cost.  Believe me, those venues would cost a whole lot more and be a lot less friendly!  You don't know a good thing when you have it.  Sorry, but this keeping up with the Joneses burns me to a crisp.  You just hit a nerve.  A BIG NERVE.  I'll get off the soap box now, as I tell my students.

Well O-mom, I hear your brownies are great, but I just disagree. I can see I struck a nerve, though. The Salem stadium is nothing special, although the people were warm and friendly (unlike the weather when I was there). "Warm" doesn't necessarily equal glamorous or expensive. And it's not about keeping up with anybody. The nice kids who play in the game in a warmer place would still have their ability, want to play and not get paid. But those of us who want to watch the kids would be able to neatly stow our carry-on luggage in the overhead bin, and not have to tote a trunk for our parkas, Sorrell boots, and other cold weather necessities.
And I like it when I can use a koozie to keep my beer cold, instead of to prevent my fingers from freezing.

Come to Stone Station on Saturday and you won't need mittens!!  Besides it's going to be in the 40's:  a veritable heat wave for people from Mount Union and Wisconsin.  I've been to Mount Union and I thought it was the North Pole and there wasn't any snow that day.  It was hailing footballs, though.  Yeah,  it was hailing.

I have always thought that spring, summer and fall happen between July 1-5 in Wisconsin.  That's when I was there once.  And it was cold even then!  People have to plug their cars in to make them go in the morning, for crying out loud.  Now that's cold.  No,  I'm keeping Jacksonville Florida for when I go to the ACC Baseball Tournament this spring.  Then it'll be too warm for words.  Oh, there are words.  But I'm not going to use them on this momentous occasion!    Soon it'll be Stagg Bowl time in good ole Virginny.
Brownies for Film Day--Now there's a Slogan I can live with!!!:)  Go EAGLES!

I'm looking forward to watching the Stagg this Saturday from the warm confines of my den. The fire will be roaring and the coffee will be hot. Can't wait to see Whitewater kick MUC's butt! I've got a lot of respect for both teams but since Whitewater came into our house and did a number on us at the CatDome....I have to be behind them all the way to the top!!! Get 'er done Warhawks!!!

Anyone come up with some great "Beaver" slogans for posters at the game yet?

The IIAC would like to throw their support behind the West Region Champs, the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.  Make it three years in a row of West Region Stagg Bowl victors.
I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!
