So will they put that puppy on their helmets, or stick with the SP?

It'll be the puppy

Have to say...I'm not at all a fan of the new logo.

I don't know if that cartoon looking dog was much better.

My take on it is this... The mascot is what it is. You only have so many things you can do with it.

The old Stevie Pointer was fine for what it was, but it was dated and it really wasn't used as a logo on too many uniforms that I can think of.

The new logo has some more FIGHT in it. Not to say that any logo will (or should) strike fear in opponents... but it seems more appropriate, perhaps, as the logo for the university sports teams.

The old logo was more appropriate for the cheerleaders logo... and with the athletic success that SP has had over the years, I think that the cheerleaders are not exactly what you want to think of.

I mean, at least they cheer hard, right?

My take on this....

Looking at the avatars sported by 02 and PointSpecial, it's really hard for me to take seriously evaluation they offer regarding logos of any kind.  ;D

Plus they altered the look of their helmets a few weeks before the new logo came out.

Picture this helmet with the new dog:

Just what the world needs  - another purple helmet w/black facemask!!   ::)   ;)

I like their new logo and I never did like the yellow helmets so that's an improvement in my eyes as well.  But why anyone associated with Stevens Point would care what I thought about the matter escapes me.

I seem to remember a high school logo I saw on one of the helmet sites as having a logo very similar to the new Point logo. I'm going to put my detective skills to work and track it down.

Further indication that a Ask BoBo topic is needed.  ;)

Voice here... I just want to thank the many of you that have sent get well cards and email messages encouraging me on my just beginning battle against cancer.  It's amazing the incredible ups and downs one goes through emotionally on a daily basis.  I posted a story yesterday on how my youngest grandkid, Javon, taught Grandpa Tom a valuable lesson on Friday after seeing me feeling sorry for myself. To access the story click on the following link:  http://www.voiceseyeonfootball.blogspot.com/2012/07/n-photo-above-my-youngest-grandkid.html
For a kid just heading into kindergarden he's pretty damn smart!!

cawcdad

I pray all goes well for you Voice. And in the mean time, sit back, relax, and enjoy some cartoons. Smart kid. :)

I think Minett's Stagg Bowl performance contributed to him getting on this list. Thanks to that one play.

What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!
