I think Minett's Stagg Bowl performance contributed to him getting on this list. Thanks to that one play.

When you consider that most (not all) of this years preseason AA list is just last years AA second, third or HM list (w/a couple 1st team holdovers), you might conclude that his Stagg Bowl performance vaulted him into the p-s 2nd team. My prediction is that he's going to have a monster junior season and will be in the running for 1st team selection and challenge for defensive POY. Also, I expect to see a couple of the Warhawk LB's break into the AA list as well. Kind of surprised they didn't make the preseason list - but as I said, this preseason list is basically last years undergraduates on the AA list - and these guys didn't make that. I see a couple of Jace Rindahl-types that come out of nowhere to dominate now that they are upper classmen and playing more downs.

Wara as 2nd team is a mild surprise to me, but all of the AA QB's from '11 graduated. I'm not sure his supporting cast will be as strong this year resulting in him having to assume an even heavier workload than the heavy workload he carried in the past. I question whether or not he'll make it through the season healthy, IMO.

The La Crosse punter is really good and deserving of the accolades...he can really boom it.

I was just a bit surprised he made the list b/c Minett was the only starting UWW D-Lineman who didn't receive all-conference honors from last season. Even Jake Holstein was Second Team All-WIAC, and should be returning for his senior season this year. I hope both these guys have great seasons and apply pressure on the QB. They will be facing some very talented QB's this year in the WIAC.

Cortez could be the next great LB on this team. Second Team All-WIAC last year a sophomore.

Did you see the story about the field in Missouri at Lindenwood U?

Fields should be GREEN.  No exceptions.

I had a conversation with a Platteville athletic dept official a couple years ago & he told me they had discussions about installing blue turf in Pioneer Stadium when they installed their turf. He mentioned it didn't get to far when they learned that while green turf had something like a 10 year guarantee, colored turf (like the blue stuff they were thinking about) was guaranteed for just a couple years. For the amount of money being invested, it was a no-brainer to forget about the blue, novelty turf and stick with green. Don't know if this is the same today, but I thought badgerwarhawk and 02 Warhawk would enjoy this information.  ;)

Let's hope he's returning, since he was elected 2012 Captain along side Lee Brekke following spring drills.

Our linebacker corp should be very solid.  The LB I'm excited about is Cole Klotz.  He put up some excellent numbers while playing full time when Greg Arnold was injured and had the huge tackle that forced the UMU fumble near the goal line in last year's Stagg Bowl.  I really think this dude is going to be good.

Platteville's turf is still green, BoBo.  ;)

Klotz is a big boy- he's got Urlacher type physical appearance.
My favorite lb last year was Cortez. He was light for a lb but made some of the best plays all season long. He planted the UST QB on his back in one of the most picture perfect open field tackles you will ever see.

The Warhawks have the strongest linebacker corps returning in my 25 years in Whitewater.

UWW must replace All-American middle linebacker Greg Arnold but the remainder of the linebacker corps will return including six of the top 16 tacklers on the squad in 2011.

Kyle Wismer led the team with 75 tackles. Arnold was second with 69 stops. Ryan Cortez was third in tackles with 68.  Cole Klotz was eighth with 50 and Jaren Borland tenth with 37 tackles.  Add Bryan Spakowicz (31) and Joe Paulus (21) all returning and you can bet the linebacking corps should be extremely strong again in 2012

Go Hawks!

I know that...what I was talking about was if the turf technology with the funky colored stuff (blue, red, and whatever) has improved so those are now fully guaranteed, too. It's a lot of $$$ to roll out, if the stuff is going to wear out in a couple of years.

This was mentioned during Milwaukee's news last night (WTMJ4). It scrolled across the bottom of the screen during the broadcast, along with the pre-season all americans.

Voice, do you know if Wismer is fully healthy now?  I remember he was wearing a knee brace last season and I believe he was fighting through an actual knee injury.

E17... I saw Kyle and several other UWW players at Tuesday night's South squad WFCA All-Star scrimmage at Perkins Stadium.  Didn't talk to the guys except to ask if they were stoked for getting back on the field. It sure sounds like they are ready.
