6.  Rodgers was yelling at James Jones, not Cobb for not coming back to the ball. As Mayock said, as a QB, you got to know who to yell at and who not to. Yelling at your left tackle from the middle of the field all the way to the bench area, the guy who's trying to protect your blind side, and then giving him a shoulder shimmy, too, isn't a wise thing. Yet, when Marshall drops a sure TD pass, Cutler goes up to him, pats him on top of the head and sits down next to him like he's his daddy.

Looks like BoBo gets it.  ;D

A couple quick observations of the Packer-bear game from a long ways away...

1.  It's always hard for me to gauge these things - how much of this game was a dominant performance by GB, as opposed to a Chi breakdown?

2.  Say what you want about Cutler (and I've said a lot  ;D ), but that guy is a heck of an athlete. To escape some of that pressure was pretty impressive. If he could only finish, he'd be a consistant all-pro.

But, Rodgers is a girl because he has the field awareness and moxy to take advantage of something that the ref's missed? It was a brilliant move and obviously something bear fans aren't used to in their QB.

3.  Loved Mayock's comment about the fake FG TD, "...that was so cool!!"

4.  For 52 minutes, I thought the mouth, Brandon Marshall, was inactive for this game. I love his chemistry with Cutler.

5.  Anybody feel the same way I did when Nessler commented about the Packer loss last week just prior to kickoff, "...there's a lot of people getting ready to jump in the Fox River over this"? Thought it was a rather insensitive and ill-timed remark considering what happened with Philbin's kid earlier this year. Poor choice of words. I wonder if any of the know-it-all ESPN-types bring it up.

So you agree with Mayock when he says a QB should know who to yell at and who not to but criticize Cutler for yelling at one player and not yelling at another?  Shouldn't personalities be the determining factor in the choice, not positions?    And where did anyone on here say that Rodgers was a girl???  02 and I just pointed out that Cutler wasn't the only one who was letting his teammates have it.

And then Rodgers cries because the Bears' 12th man has half a toe on the playing field- Girl! (no offense 413).

I don't think Cutler would yell at anybody in his tax bracket...anybody else if fair game.

Nice to know our Bear brothers and sisters like to throw around the -K in frustration the day after. Remind me after the next game to shut up.  ;)

I know I'm a Packer fan, but the way Rodgers yelled at Jones ONE time as opposed to Cutler yelling after every play was way different.  Rodgers was trying to get Jones to finish his route off, which would have prevented the interception and will benefit the Packers in future games.  Cutler was just yelling to yell, its not like he's got some technique advice to give his linemen.  I understand his frustration, but I know from playing that when someone screams at you to do your job better when your already giving your all doesn't help.  It also doesn't help that Cutler essentially gave up before the game ended.  I'm sure that makes his linemen want to try even harder for him.

They have no choice, they have to try harder...or they will be out of a job real fast. The Bears offensive lineman will be the first to tell you...as they did in the post game interivews.

Also, Jones' mistakes isn't going to give Rodgers a concussion. Culter will end up in the hospital (again) if the oline doesn't play better. I can understand his frustration for wanting to improve, so he can live past 70. I know that sounds harsh but look around at some of the older football players who sustained head injuries in the NFL...most aren't doing to good.

You know it wasn't me, BoBo. Have you been on any other boards this morning?   And I missed 17's comment, sorry about that. He did call Rodgers a girl!!  Shame on him!   ;)

I am sure the Cutler regrets losing his cool so much and I understand why, we Bears fans, have more empathy for his situation than Packer fans do.

First the disclaimer: I'm a huge Packers fan!  Aaron Rodgers is my favorite player in the league hands down.  The game was awesome last night, the better team won, the worst team lost, and all is again right with the world.  ;D

Now, to go against the grain a bit.  In looking at the board, 17 being called out on calling Rodgers "a girl" seems a bit like a ref throwing the flag because he saw only the second punch between two players. I think he never would have said that if Bobo hadn't posted something about Cutler running to his "mommy". Emma can defend himself, but that's what I saw.  Anyway, all just trash talking about a game that will have no relevancy to Warhawk Nation on Saturday! Go Hawks!

No real trash talking here...I think we all agree the Bears suck.

I need a drink (and a Willie the Warhawk bobblehead) and I'll be ok.  :D

Not a fun game to watch last night. :-[ At least @ this point in the season the Bears are still tied with the Pack!!

Brad Biggs from the Trib took a break (mercifully...) from breaking down the game last night in his
"10 thoughts" piece to talk about Matt Blanchard:

9. Behind the scenes and during the week the Bears are working to groom Matt Blanchard, the practice squad quarterback from Wisconsin-Whitewater. It's a challenging task for Blanchard to improve and for the Bears to get him better when he doesn't get a lot of action on the field. There are not a lot of reps to go around for the backup Jason Campbell, so Blanchard gets even less work.

I asked quarterbacks coach Jeremy Bates about the process of teaching a quarterback in an environment where physically his opportunities for maturation are limited.

"The biggest thing is the classroom," Bates said. "He is studying. The challenge a lot of guys have as young quarterbacks is that each week is a brand new week. And what I mean by that is one week it's 3-4 and the next week it's 4-3 or a crazy Rex Ryan defense. I think the biggest challenge as a young quarterback is seeing how the game changes week in and week out and being able to sit in the classroom and absorb that. Protections are different, routes are different, run game is different. It's still your foundation you're using but it's how it changes so much week in and week out. It's a mental grind ... it gets on you.

"Young quarterbacks have to be a professional. They have to take notes, they have to study and it shows up in next year's OTA. If they just blew off the year, that is not a very professional move on their part. They have to study on their own a little bit and go home and act like they are the starter. The more knowledge you gain, it's going to show up in OTA's, you start playing, you start clicking and the faster the game slows down. It's a little bit on their own but that is what we are looking for, professional players."

Blanchard can get some practice squad reps in practice on occasion when Campbell doesn't take them all. It all depends on how many snaps Campbell receives with the starters.

"Right now for me, coach Bates and the coaching staff, are giving me projects to do to get better," Blanchard said. "For me to identify coverages, fronts quicker and faster so when I do get the opportunities I start recognizing things quicker. For a lot of rookie quarterbacks, NFL coverages are a lot more advanced and fronts are a lot more advanced than in college. Being able to do that, on the field, the scout teams I will get, I will be able to work on my craft as far as footwork and seeing actual coverages live instead of on film but there is going to be a lot of stuff I am going to be able to do. It's going to be a lot of mental reps. That is going to be good for me because the higher I get my football IQ, the better so when I step I am picking stuff up."

Don't mistake being just god awful bad (Webb) and making an uncharacteristic mistake (Marshall).

Maybe Cutler knows his teammates personalities better than we think. He may know that yelling at Marshall would only cause Marshall to shut it down, not just in this game but in subsequent games as well. And, maybe Cutler knows that Webb needs a kick in the ass. Several NFL analysts took Webb to task for not responding to Cutler especially when Cutler gave him a bump. To them, it showed a lack of fire inside Webb. Read Webb's blog - he's a teddy bear. It would be better for the Bears if he had anger management issues.

The problem for the Bears OL is that they have an offensive tackle who was a 1st round pick sitting on the bench. A wasted draft pick will doom any NFL team.

As for Jones, at times, he shows potential to be a top receiver. But other times, he runs lazy routes and drops easy passes. Rodgers may know that he has to keep Jones' focus and concentration up to get him to perform at the the level he is capable.
