Oshkosh is a little more balanced that NCC. NCC doesn't have the passing game to play from behind. Oshkosh's Wara just might be the best QB in the country and can make all sorts of throws.

If they can play more consistent from quarter to quarter they will be tough to beat.

O2,
i only got to see the 1st half but, the QB will be fun.. 8-) He looks as good or better than a couple we have played this year. (good arm & legs ) He likes that spin move . :oThe D looked like it can be beat if we can control the pressure up front.  :P
Should be another good one.  More feather for the catdome.. 8-) :-*

What's wrong with attending a playoff football game on the Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend?
Not one D3 playoff game on Saturday topped the 2000 mark with UWO having the highest attedance and St. Thomas the lowest.

1458    Johns Hopkins @ Mount Union
1697    Franklin @ Mary Hardin-Baylor
1304    North Central @ Linfield
735      Elmhurst @ St. Thomas
1947    Bethel @ UW-Oshkosh
817      Cortland State @ Wesley
852      Wittenberg @ Hobart
1612    Salisbury @ Widener
NEVER thought I would see the day where Oshkosh had the highest attendence for a game. :o

(Not that 2000 is really that great when you compare it to some of the crowds Whitewater has seen in years past.)

Congrats to UWO on the game on Saturday. I wish the results were different, but you beat us going away.

I was particularly impressed with Wara, Voss, Stefaniak, Myhra and your DB (#2?). You guys had very good players at each position, but those guys stood out. Wara and Voss especially, showing fortitude in bouncing back after a rocky start. I definitely got to see what the hype was about. You've got some gamers.

Best of luck in the playoffs.

Here's an article on Lane Olson's tryout with the Jets.  Although special teams will likely be his predominate role, he's trying out as a WIDE RECEIVER!  :o

Can't speak for the others, but round 2 is always poorly attended at Mount.  Mainly because the students are away on break and the Ohio State/Meatchicken game is that weekend.  And making yesterday's attendance worse was the following:
1.   OSU/UM was at noon
2.  28 degrees, snowing and 20 MPH winds
3.  Opponent with little to no shot at making it interesting past halftime, if even that.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Does UW-O have a running back like Nick Kukuc? I hope not, that guy is one of the best backs I've seen in a few years at the DIII level.

From my very limited observations of UW-O, they appear to be a similar style team as NCC---they run it about 60% of the time but have an efficient passing game.  Their QB is mobile and makes good decision.  The defense is solid though maybe not as big on the lines as NCC and it looks like they blitz a lot more than NCC does.  Anybody have further comparisons or differing opinions from this?

My opinion of the biggest differences between UW-O and NCC:

1. Nate Wara. He is game-changing good.
2. UW-O is far more balanced offensively.  Their passing game is more dangerous than NCC's.
3. NCC's defense is better and IMO, it's not really close.  UW-O has a pretty good defense, but I believe them to be vulnerable to a balanced attack with a potent passing game.  UW-O is capable of pressure, but if Linfield protects Inns, they will score a lot of points.
4. UW-O is FAR less mistake prone than NCC. In 12 games, NCC turned the ball over 31 times and UW-O only 9.  UW-O isn't likely to beat themselves.

My opinion on the game? SHOOTOUT!

Regardless...winner of this game gets to the Stagg Bowl.

I agree.   This round will be much tougher than the next.   Which is opposite of the other half of the bracket.

I don't think I've seen Oshkosh play that poorly like they did in the first half today. Bethel just moved the ball up and down the field at will against UWO's defense. And on offense they had nothing going. I think Wara was 6-13, 46 yards and two Ints in the first half. It's rare to see Wara throw one pick, let alone two in one half. Both of which was thrown in the endzone.

The turning point in the game came when Bethel had the ball, and it appeared they would go into the half up 14-0. With about 90 seconds left an Oshkosh dback stepped in front of a Bethel pass, returning it to about the 20 or 30 yards line of Bethel. Three plays later UWO scored to go into the half only down 7-14.

The game was never the same after that pick. Oshkosh score 37 straight to win 37-14. If Oshkosh plays the rest of the tournament like they did in the second half today, they will be tough to beat. In the second half, the Oshkosh defense had Bethel going in opposite direction all day long. I'll be very surprised if Bethel had a 2nd and 3rd down shorter than 8 yards all second half. On offense UWO was scoring on every possesion. Wara's second TD pass was absolutley amazing. Dropping the ball right into the arms of Voss between two defenders from 30 yards out. Just a perfectly thrown ball.

It appears they will be traveling to Linfield next week, unless NCC mounts a second-half comeback.

I didn't see Wara's 1st pick but the 2nd pick went right off the WRs hands in the end zone. I put that one on the WR.

I thought the run-D played well all game usually giving up a couple yards per carry. In the first half the Bethel receivers seemed to get over the dop of the secondary on numerous occasions. I didn't notice a coverage/alignment change in the second half...just better technique by the DB's.

Linfield looked good as I watched the streaming video...should be a fun game!

UWO welcome to the Catdome.  BTW what does the word Oshkosh mean?  I assume that it is an Indian word.
Don't forget your booties cause it's cold out there!

Actually, back in 1819 the land grant founding father had his mouth so full of cheese when asked to name the region, he said, "Hopscotch" but you see out came out Oshkosh.

His first pick was a ball that shouldn't have been thrown. It was a deep ball in double coverage in the endzone.

He was flawless in the second half though.

Oshkosh means "The Claw" in Ojibwa.

Some think that is where Baron Von Raschke discovered his signature move.  (OK, who knows that reference?)  8-)
What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!

I spent many of my Saturday nights in my formative years watching All Star Wrestling.  Actually saw the Baron "wrestle" live several times.
