Since I like to hold people accountable to previous posts, including myself, I have to man-up and admit that I underestimated this Titan team.  What impressed me the most today was how they continued to stay with it, play hard, and wear down a quality team.  They put themselves on the brink by digging themselves a hole, but pounded their way out of it. Congratulations, Titans. You earned the win today.   ;)

I was so impressed with the patience UWO showed in their offense.  In a quick count, I think UWO passed 7 times in the first half, and then passed 14 times up until the point they tied the game.  They passed more after that of course, but much of that was due to the clock.  I have to believe that the heavy dose of running in the first half was intended to wear down Linfield, or at least set up play action.  UWO could have scrapped the plan when they were down 14 early, but they didn't.  Such disciplined coaching.
And disciplined playing--not too many mistakes by the Titans...a few too many by my Cats.....
Go Cats!

They did scrap something, the run option only plan!   The Titans started passing the ball in the second half, something they needed to do, and we all know they could do well, as an important addition to their option offense.  That and they may have worn down the Cats, a little, at the LOS as the game wore on. The game plan needs to start out against the Tommies with that in mind if they are to have any shot at traveling to Salem, IMHO!  YOU HAVE TO HAVE A BALANCED OFFENSE to win and move on in the playoffs!  This game was a tale of two halves for the Titans and made my point perfectly!  I rest my case..................... ;) ;D

No doubt a balanced offense is key.  My point is the inbalance in the first half may be intentional.

Congrats Oshkosh.  Like your coach, your schemes, and players.  Best of luck the rest of the way.

Congratulations, Oshkosh!  You are right where the WIAC Champion should be.

Ok, but I doubt the game plan was to only score 6 and get down by 15.  If, "being imbalanced," in the first half was the game plan, I'm betting Cerroni will modify that by next weekend.   ;)

I imagine it's team specific.  IF he felt he could wear Linfield down today, then the first half score wasn't his main focus.  Of course he'd rather be ahead, but UWO actually outgained Linfield in the first half slightly.  The correction that needed to be made in the first half was pass defense.
Keep in mind, Linfield had something like 60 sacks this season.  Pounding on their D Line in the first half may have given the passing game time in the second half.

What I will say is that no way Oshkosh wanted to get into a track meet with the Cats.  Pounding on teams for 4 quarters takes it's toll. I do think THAT is part of their plan. Wear teams down.  I don't think UW-O ever doubts that they will be the stronger team in the 4th quarter.

I DO NOT like the looks of this!  Reminds me of the UWW team in 2005.

Great win for UWO, and I think they just are a bit stronger moving forward.

Mount beat UWW in 05....isn't that a good thing for mount fans?  ;)

George Thompson

Congratulations UW-Oshkosh!   You beat my mighty Wildcats.    We had our lead and numerous more opportunities, but you won.

I have to admit it, your conference is stronger than the NWC.

Good luck the rest of the way.

Now MHB just fumbled. This is my first time watching MHB this year...I'm far from impressed.

As I posted on OAC board, after watching MHB and Wesley I'd be surprised if either could give Mt a game. Fundamentally sloppy.
anything can happen, but Mt. has been so dominant all season that they certainly are the team to beat no matter who they play.

Well, I'm actually of the mindset that Linfield plays the type of football that is most successful vs Mt.

I've been watching the Raiders for 20+ years and I respectfully disagree.  Especially since Vince Kehres took over the defense.  Mount is built exactly to defend the type of offense that Linfield plays.  We see a ton of spread/passing games in the OAC and Mount is designed to defend that with a base 4-2-5 alignment with fast, undersized guys at every position than the standard.

The teams that give Mount trouble are big, strong running teams that can play defense.  Which is why UWW had success in the 2000's and LaX in the 1990's.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

Gig Harbor Cat

Props to Oshkosh.  You played one heck of a game today at the Catdome.  All the best for your championship run.

UW-O is definitely a big, strong team. Whether they are good enough to get to and win in Salem, we will know in a couple of weeks!
