Rankings are always subjective opinions based on what objective criteria we have, filtered through our perspectives of what we think is more important. I think emma has about the right outlook (meaning I agree with that line of thinking.) That's what makes it fun to talk about. Thank goodness, that in the end, all the speculation is just that - FUN. Once it's settled on the field, it's settled. Except for all the "What ifs" which in itself, is more fun.

retagent,

In 2008, the Raiders had only 6 returning starters coming back, but two of them were Nate Kmic
and Greg Micheli. For 2013, it will be Kevin Burke and Germany Woods (transfer from Heidelberg) and 5 on defense. We'll see how it shakes out, but I agree with HSCoach on his forecast.

In the WIAC, how do the other teams stack up against UW-SP for 2013? :-\

They have a lot of rebuilding to do before they are competitive again.

One conference win in 2012.

Have not read posts on here in quite a while. I just read what people were saying towards the end of the play-off season. What I do not see being mentioned is the seeding which I think is the most important element. In our bracket I do think that Linfield was probably the best team. Maybe the best in the Nation. However to seed St T above UWO is in MHO a joke. It probably cost UWO the win. The Titans played tired! It is my opinion that a Mt. Union UWO match-up would have been far more competitive. I think the same could be said about Mary Hardin-Baylor. I think the idea of Neutral Sites in the Quarters and Semis should be visited. I know it would be more costly but it would decide things by how good the teams are vs. someones opinion on seeding. What do you all think? I think that any team that goes undefeated in the WIAC is a number 1 seed period!

I can guarantee no one on the Titans roster used this as an excuse for their loss.

This goes for any good player and any great team...you worry about what you can control. The Titans went 10-0 heading into the playoffs and didn't get a #1 seed. They couldn't control that. They couldn't control having to travel to St. Thomas. They could control how they prepared, how they studied, how they stayed focused, how they executed, etc.

UWW couldn't control having to travel throughout the playoffs a couple years ago...they didn't make excuses. They focused on each opponent and were successful.

I hate when people make excuses like seeding being the reason a team lost.

I have a feeling he meant to ask about Platteville, not Stevens Point.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

If that's the case, Platteville has just about everyone on that team returning. Oshkosh is returning the conference's best rusher, but loses Wara. Whitewater will have a great defense, but will have to rebuild a lot on offense (must like 2012).

Platteville is my favorite win the WIAC in 2013

And basically the entire defense. Agreed on the Platteville pick.

I have to agree with both of you...Platteville.

Add me to the P-Ville list- they have a lot of talent.
02- your comment about UWW rebuilding the offense is probably true, which makes it very disappointing because this would be two years of rebuilding an offense.  Imo 2012 was obviously the year to rebuild an offense for the future.

I'm not sure why they needed an open records request. All this information is published annually in the UW System Redbook.

http://www.uwsa.edu/budplan/redbook/

EDIT: OK, I guess they have changed it and you can't see salary details online unless you're on a UW System domain. Still, it's public already. The entire book is in the Madison and Milwaukee public library if you really want to see it.

When you think of the time and effort- they probably average a buck fifty per hour. Can't blame them if higher divisions come a calling.

Matt Blanchard re-signed by the Bears....

Maybe Lovie was holding him back!

:)
This has to be a good sign for Matt as I'm hoping it means Phil Emery likes him.  Open competition at the #2 spot would be great (I'd prefer it at the #1 spot).

It would be quite amazing if Lance works 66,834 hours a year (as a year contains less than 9,000 hours)! 8-)
