It has come to my attention that there are a number of people who are saying that I have said Stan Zwiefel is a candidate for the Eau Claire job because he can't get the WW because a certain booster doesn't like him.

I'd like to clear that up right now.  I have NEVER said either of those things.

Here are the facts:

1. On Feb 10th Longtooth included his name in a post of Eau Claire candidates.  I have no idea whereLongtooth got his information but it was incorrect.

2.  Then whoever the hell [Warhawkbadger is, on Feb 11th, brought up the "big time booster" issue.

NOTE: I am NOT, warhawkbadger.    I post only as badgerwarhawk.  I have no clue who warhawkbadger is or why he adopted a user name so similar to mine.

3.   Lilpeds then added his two cents, also on Feb. 11th.  He confirms the "big booster hates him" theory.

4.  Captain Kurt has a "gut reaction" yesterday.

5.   Finally at 12:13 yesterday I make my first comment on the subject when I state...

"Stan Zwiefel is NOT a candidate for the Eau Claire job and to my knowledge never has been.  You'd be surprisesd how winning can influence attitudes in the community."

I can see where the confusion probably occurred.  Badgerwarhawk and warhawkbadger are certainly similar.  But what really pisses me off is that some of you who know me and know of my passion for WARHAWK athletics would think that I would do something as stupid as this in the middle of the recruiting season.  Now I've got a bunch of explaining to do, that pisses me off too.

I hope this clears up the matter.

Warhawk,
I do not think you have to apologize to anyone, as this is america and you are protected by the first amendment.Unless you say you wanna kill the president of the united states.
It was Longtooth that brought up Stan's name as a potential candidate for the job at Eau Claire. I then did respond by saying that it is very well possible that Stan will not get the job at UWW. Because Mr Kachel, and his influence on the university with his money, and let's remember that MONEY TALKS,and Whitewater would not have the nice field house or student athletic complex if it was not fro Mr. Kachels very nice donations of money. As well as coach Brez busting his butt to get other alums to finish the job.
As far as who will make the decision on who will become the next ehad coahc at UW Whitewater. please do not fool yourself. Mr. Kachel runs the twon of whitewater for the most part, and is by far the biggest booster the athletic department and Dr. Plinske have, so to say he won't have a say in the process is a joke because he will. However I will agree with captain Kurt he is very well deserving of it. Whether DLK thinks so or not.
This will not be a wisconsin like situation where two weeks before fall camp opens. Coach Brez has a press conference announces that he is officially retiring and then names whoever he wants the new head coach.
So Badgerwarhawk do not feel that you need to apologize or explain yourself to anyone because you don't. Nor does anyone else on this board, why because this is AMERICA, a free country. I will say that I did not start the Stan Zweifel for UWEC job rumor. However I did start the Booker Stanley to UWW rumor. I wish it would be, however he is just too big of a risk to take as he has a lot of issues to take care of.

I said no such thing.  That was someone by the name of Longtooth.

Gee BadgerWarhawk, don't you hate when people attribute someone's else's misinformed post to you?  Boy, I do.

My apologies Bill.  I failed to see that it was Longtooth's information you were quoting.   Yes, I do hate it. ;)

I regret having ranted last night.  It probably would have been better for me to wait until today to post.

At any rate, warhawkbadger, it's not an apology.  I hardly see why I should apologize for something I never said.  In fact the only thing I've stated tried to set the matter straight.  Their intended purpose was two-fold.  First to clarify the difference between the two of us and secondly to set the facts of who said what straight, though in my haste I was incorrect regarding Just Bill.  Admittedly I got a little carried away in the end.  Like I said I probably should have waited.

I'm not going to get into the whole America thing.

I'll be surprised if Booker Stanley ends up anywhere but jail next year.

Bill, I edited my post to correct the error.  Again my apologies.

I did not realzie that we were keeping score. But I think I should get some more points as I did say who did start the rumor about coach Zweifel getting the job at Eau Claire.
As that is the person who started the rumor on here.

warhawkbadger, there is only one person who types as terrible as you do.  That person's name is Sean O'Reilly.  Seeing that O'Reilly has disappeared from posting, but someone "new" has to come into the sceen with a bunch of trash that is constantly misspelled, most of on here think that this is you.  At either rate, who ever your are, shhhhhhhhhhh.

I'm not so sure that everyone who thinks DLK runs the ship within the UWW football family is correct.  Now, we all know that he's the biggest donor/booster of many athletic programs at UWW, with football being one of them.  But he will not have a final say in the matter.  That is what Dr. Paul Plinske has been hired for.  The responsibility of hiring a new coach to replace Coach Brezowitz falls squarely on his shoulders.  If this was the University of Auburn, a school which has been well documented with it's boosters' invisible hands of influence, then I would say that the biggest booster would choose the next head coach.  But the fact of the matter is that, with UW-Whitewater being a public institution, the job search for the next head coach will go by the books.  And if Dr. Plinske decideds that Stan Zweifel is the man for the job, then he'll get it.  DLK does not have veto power.

However, my gut reaction is that Z will not get the job.  In my estimation (and I am an actuary) 90-95% of alumnus who played for Stan would tell you that he is the man for the job.  PERIOD.  He's not only earned the job and deserves it, but he is more qualified than any other candidate who will apply for this job.  I like his hiring because it allows for the chemistry of the current staff to stay intact.  Brian Borland is as important to UWW success as is Stan Zweifel.  But all of the speculation we makes doesn't really matter.  We can just kick back and watch this event unfold over time.

I agree that he's earned it. It'd be great if Z got the head coaching job, not only because he's potentially a great head coach, but yes, then the staff will most likely stay intact. In order to build a dynasty like the Purple Raiders, keeping the staff in one piece is huge.

The only thing is I think you are underestimating the influence of a big time booster/donor. He's poured millions of dollars into the university and the football program. I know Brez will have his two cents on who he thinks should replace him, but DLK will have just as much say. Plinske is just the Plingo chip (yeah Bob Barker!!). Yeah he will end up with the final decision, but with some help. I hope Z stays in Whitewater, the Warhawks win it all this year, and then he takes over after Brez leaves....that would be the best scenario in my eyes. As much as I got upset about the championship game, Z is an awesome coach and a great recruiter as well. He's one funny professor, too!

Sorry for the whole "quote" mishap...I'm still getting used to doing that. Sooner or later my intelligence will kick in...ha!  ;D

Captain Kurt,

WarhawkBadger is O'Reilly.  BadgerWarhawk is, well, BadgerWarhawk and he is an acclaimed speller!

Thanks for getting me on the board Jflash, and congrats on the win Bill,  but I'm dropping out of the conversation now.  It's already caused me enough grief.

Just so there's no doubt of my position, not that it will mean anything.  I support Coach Z 100%.  He's not only qualified, I'm old fashioned and think he's earned the opportunity.  Aside from his family nothing means more to him than WARHAWK football.   He's dedicated the bulk of his professional career to it.  That means something in my book.

Brian is an excellent coach as well and I hope he stays on the staff.  He'll be a head coach someday and, if it isn't going to be here, I hope he'll stay with us until his opportunity comes along.   He's improved our defense every season that he's coached.

And that's all I'll say until the drama unfolds in the future.  :D (right)

CaptainKurt

BadgerWarhawk,

I'd love to reiterate everything that you've said.  I agree with you in full:

Stan Zweifel should be the next head coach at UW-Whitewater.  He's earned it.
Enough said.

Brian Borland is more than capable of being a head coach.  I hope he stays around in Whitewater for a long, long time.

I think of all the future head coaches the Green Bay Packers had when they won the SuperBowl in 1996 (Mike Sherman, Dick Jauron, Andy Reid, Marty Mortenwig, Jon Gruden, Ray Rhodes), who were all assistants to Mike Holmgren.  Coach Zweifel and Coach Borland are the same to Coach Berezowitz.

POUNDTHEROCK

My only question is after coach Brez retires who is going to mow and water the game and practice fields everyday.
If there is one nthing Brez takes pride in it's those fields. I have never seen a college head football coach take it upon himself to mow and water the practice fields like coach Brezowitz.
I hope that someone on the staff does get the job. However if it does not happen that way. I am sure some egos will be hurt and people will leave.
It will be unfortunate if that happens.
