I don't think anyone is making bad comments about Matt (for obvious reasons we wish him the best). There's just some friendly Bears/Packers bantering going on...which is typical this time of the year. Along with Bears fans complaining about their starting QB, which has been an issue for many of years.

Thanks, for the perspective and kind words, BN. Let me just add to the discussion that Matt is a very talented QB and a fantastic young man who comes from a wonderful family with incredible D3 roots, his brother Derek having been a four year starter for Mount Union, 2004-07. He has great character, a humble attitude, and tremendous love and appreciation for all his family, teammates and coaches. The NFL is lucky to have him, fingers crossed, (and it appears that the Bears staff understand this as well,) especially in this day and age, and there could not be a better representative for D-3 football at the top. Regardless of ones personal views toward everything UWW, his success deserves applause from all of us who love what athletics means at this level................

Speaking of passion.................  ;) 8-)

Thanks for the karma, but especially thanks for all your insight over the years.  I have always respected your comments and your knowledge.

I see tongue is firmly planted in cheek here Stoutguy. Plus you used the words "gosh" and "purple bad guys".

Anybody buying this I've got a cheap medical plan I'll sell you.

Stoutguy is anything but stupid. He's one of my heroes.
No, actually, no tongue in cheek at all.  Footballfan413 and BW pay more attention to d3 football than I ever will.  I respect the passion.
Awe, shucks, Kind Sir. Thanks so much.  We are going to get your karma back up in no time!   ;D

....I was looking over the WIAC schedules , mainly the 1st 3 games, and they seem to have scheduled some great competition. I know that North Central is very good along with the MIAC teams and others on the schedule. I wish I could watch the Lewis & Clark game vs Platteville (although I'm sure L&C will get crushed) but Linfield has a home game that day vs. Cal Luth. It would be fun to watch a good WIAC team play in person on the west coast. to bad it isn't a night game, I'd take in both.

So what does this mean for UW-W as a whole? I know the football team is going to keep pounding that rock and the defense is going to be stifling as all ways.

Congratulations to Paul and a huge thank you for all he's done to build up the UW – W athletic program. Along with being incredibly successful, he has operated with class and dignity every step of the way. I have seen him deal with issues far from the public eye and I have more respect for him than I could describe in a single post. I hope and pray for much continued success for Paul and his family! Now that this has happened, I can say publicly, Milwaukee blew it big time... Twice.
