How do you WIAC fans feel Osh Kosh will perform this year? Being a Central fan, Im hoping they dont hit their stride for a couple of weeks  ;D.

Oshkosh had a lot of seniors on defense, and one very important senior under center last year.  Talent coming back, but some re-tooling necessary, too.  Will be interesting.
What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!

Congratulations to Paul and a huge thank you for all he's done to build up the UW – W athletic program. Along with being incredibly successful, he has operated with class and dignity every step of the way. I have seen him deal with issues far from the public eye and I have more respect for him than I could describe in a single post. I hope and pray for much continued success for Paul and his family! Now that this has happened, I can say publicly, Milwaukee blew it big time... Twice.

Paul Plinske's announcement that he is leaving UW-Whitewater to be AD at the University of Nebraska at Kearney has received plenty of feedback on the incredible job he has done here at UWW.

I've just written a couple stories on the Warhawkfootball.com Newswire  reflecting back at Plinske's 9 1/2 year tenure here at U-Dub-Dub..

I'll add my observations on Blanchard, now that I've seen the game.

The Pick-6 looked like the receiver slowed, got held or quit on the play. Maybe not the best pass of the night, but didn't look that bad.
His O-Line, and backs were not blocking very well. Not just for him, but for all the Bear QB's.
When keeping the "D" off his back, they were guilty of a number of holding calls. That put the Bears in a hole. Blanchard did not seem to try to get it all back at once. He chipped away, and made yardage, even if not pickig up a 1st Down.
The "fumble" that went back near the goal line looked as if his arm was going forward, and had it not been a Pre-season game, might have been challenged and overturned.
He was hitting his receivers in stride, and/or giving them a chance to make a play on most occasions.
It looked like he and Michael Ford have some nice chemistry.

All in all, I think the only QB of the night for which a case can be madefor his playing better than Matt might be Cam Newton. CAM NEWTON!!!!  Wasn't he a high first round pick? ;D

Thanks Ret for your objectivity in reviewing the play- hopefully oshfb will learn a thing or two from your post.  The "fumble" wasn't on a snap, it was a pass play where the replay seemed to show his arm was going forward when he was hit (a play that happens to the best of the best QB's in the NFL).
Again, we Blanchard fans aren't saying Matt earned the #1 spot or a bust in the Hall of Fame, but he played very well given all the context of the game.  I played catch with my three kids today and we couldn't go 15 of 18.  Matt did it after having taken a beating on sacks/pressure.  He did it with slant routes (where did he learn that anyway?), swing routes, crossing routes, curls and seam routes.  He hit a number of different receivers.  For cry eye, what's with people like IL Gator and oshfb?  Give the D3 kid some credit.

For the last two years I was Mr. Oshkosh (as a UWW fan).  I am no longer he.

I am incredible happy for Paul, Elizabeth and Allison.  A huge congrats to him.  For myself and my family, a very sad day, however.  As wonderful an AD as Paul is, he is even more wonderful as a person.  I will never forget that day in my kitchen, hours after we learned that my son's testicular cancer had spread and he would have to undergo chemo, when Paul called him and shared his own story of his fight with TC before he came to UWW. It had been a private matter for Paul up until that point but he decided to go public with his story, (fundraiser/articles,) in order to best support A.J.  He then asked to talk to me and we had an amazing conversation where he gave me great support and encouragement and advice for how to best help A.J. through it all.  During the next several, very tough, months, I would get texts and phone calls whenever he knew that we were at the hospital, etc.  He became our coach, cheerleader, advisor and as I told him many times,  "a gift from God!"  Not only did Paul leave a mark on UWW that will never be surpassed, IMHO, more importantly, he left a mark on my and my families hearts.  For personal reasons, I have been dreading this day.  Pulling into Whitewater and knowing that Paul is no longer on campus will weigh heavy on my heart but I only wish he and his family much happiness and success with his new opportunity and journey.  They are soooo lucky to have him and we all know he will do great!

Now, I need more Kleenex.....................

My feelings regarding Paul Plinske's departure are to some extent mixed.  On one hand we are losing an excellent administrator who oversaw the most significant growth and development in our athletic program's history.  He'll be the first one to deflect credit to all of those with whom he's worked and that's true to a point.  However several of them are his hires and it takes much more than good coaches to achieve the kind of success we've had during his tenure.  He's going to be damn hard to replace.  As a WARHAWKS alumus/supporter even though I knew his leaving was inevitable I'm disappointed.

On the other hand I've considered Paul a personal friend and as such I'm really excited for him and his family.  This is a great opportunity and if anyone deserves it it's Paul.  I wish him nothing but success and I'll be following the Lopers, whatever that is ;), in the future.

Read the analysis of the Bears offensive coordinator.  Really looking forward to seeing the game tonight.

Bleed, I agree with your post in every way possible.  UWM blew it twice and all of the UWW faithful owe Paul a huge debt of gratitude.  He was first class all the way and he always made time to talk to everyone.  He regularily stopped by our tailgate just to see how we were and thank us for coming.   I am happy for him and his family and hopeful that UWW can catch lightning twice in the Athletic Director position.

UWO most definitely needs to replace the most impactful player on their roster after losing Nate Wara to graduation. However, I'm keeping a bigger eye on how their defense performs week 1 and how much they can continue to improve throughout the season. They lose 2  ILBs, NT, DE, 2 CB's and SS. We'll find out fast how deep their roster was last season.

Offensively, I still expect them to put up quite a few points.

I think UWO will fair quite well again this season.
