Blanchard may get cut today

I am confident (as only an outsider can be) that Matt will be picked up by another team if he's cut. His game vs Carolina adds to a couple good outings from last year.
I would imagine Bears' mgmt has an idea if other teams have interest in Matt. They could view cutting him as doing him a favor.
I have to believe though that the Bears see value in keeping Matt around. They've done a number of things already that indicate their plans for him.
I guess it probably comes down to the extent of the knuckle injury.

Two sources confirm a @BradBiggs report that #Bears reached injury settlement with Matt Blanchard. Roster at NFL mandated 75.

So....he would not be eligible to re-join the team until after Week 10. That would create the possibility Blanchard could sign with another team after he is healthy and the time frame for the settlement is complete.

And as a reminder, an injury settlement means he gets paid for the year but can't sign with anyone else. And if I recall (this may have already been posted previously) it's a league salary, not a practice squad salary.

I remember Blake Elliott getting one in 2004 with the Vikings and seem to recall it being on the order of $175K.

Kickoff 2013 is live!

I feel like this is our best Kickoff yet: We made a nice transition to the PrestoSports platform for Kickoff last year and this year we've taken that knowledge and tweaked it. Plus we got some new writers involved and really made sure our continuing writers elevated their game. And ours.

In addition to the previews and features of national interest, we have a story on Whitewater's attempts to bounce back and Nick Olla's job filling Nate Wara's shoes.

This is the only time we ask you guys for money for anything, as I'm sure you realize. It's more than 300 pages of Division III preseason football knowledge and it's the only place you can get all this stuff: Our previews, our rankings, Keith's analysis, the whole 10 yards. http://www.d3football.com/notables/2013/08/get-kickoff-2013

$11, or $7 if you still have access to a .edu email address. (Meant for active players/students and coaches but hey, we know you guys on this board are loyal to D3football.com and we appreciate it.)

Thanks for report 02- here is a link as well. I like his attitude- you have to have hope.

Good feedback, I appreciate it. I believe this is the third consecutive year at this price so we might be ready for an increase in 2014.

Wow!  Pretty good silver lining.   ;)  Still so surreal to hear the radio and TV sportscasters talk about Matt.  Hoping he gets his shot again, with the Bears or another team after week 10! He sure earned it, IMHO!

Sooooo, #33 has loaded us up with new orange and blue Pioneer/Carroll University apparel and has put us on notice that we need to, "re-focus," our football attention a little north of Whitewater.   ;D  A week and a half into camp, he is really loving being back at the D-3 level.  Having players who are playing for the love of the sport and willing to learn and work hard to improve, (not something you always see at the high school level,) has him motivated and inspired for the season.  Very proud and excited for him. Still, we will do our best to not abandon the Perk entirely.   8-)

As has been established, Blanchard can sign with the Bears or any other team when the injury settlement expires after the 10th game of the season. While there are endless possibilities, I personally hope Matt can find his way back to the Bears. He is certainly better than either of the two bozos who will play in the final pre-season game. In fact, in MHO, he is better than McCown, currently #2 on the depth chart. While there is bound to be some animosity over his "release" I hope both sides can come to an agreement that sees Matt back with the Bears after the 10th week. If such proves to be the case I have every confidence that as soon as next season he can ascend to the #2 position.  :)

Any regular user of this site that doesn't purchase "Kickoff" is a nut case. I don't expect a glowing report on my team, not this year anyway. That's not the point.

The effort put forth for us by the D3.com team is a true addition to my life, and I'm guessing for anyone reading this.  Supporting the site by buying "Kickoff" is a no brainer.

Good call, you are on point on Matt.  I have a strong suspicion he wants to stay with the Bears. I sure hope that happens!

Just goes to show that you don't have to be a WIAC rooter or a Packer backer to be able to spot talent.  :)

Much like Lambeau Field, increased security procedures will take place on game days at UW-Whitewater's Perkins Stadium this season.

Expect security and parking changes at the Perk

What's the changes?
What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!
