It sure is good to start the week riding high on a UWW dominating performance.
Like others have said, all phases of the game performed at high levels- I'm equally excited to see special teams doing well on the return game.

Thanks for posting the video link Voice- did I see a deep slant pass to Kumerow for a TD?

Questions:
-Who is the #1 RB?
-Who is the #2?
-Although there was solid production from the passing game, the completion percentage is troubling. Dropped passes, poor throws, no time to throw- any ideas on why?

It doesn't appear Waldorf is a football power. Hopefully UWW can continue to build on the offensive momentum and then get those w nagging ailments to the sideline early.

I'm certainly not a spokesman for the team but a couple thoughts I have on your questions.

The weather was terrible throughout the game with rain, at times heavy, and I think Matt Behrendt threw  the ball extremely well.  Buff State QB Casey Kacz talked about the difficult conditions (both UWW defense an weather conditions) following the game.

His 13 of 25 passes for 187 yards and four touchdowns ain't bad unless it is 02 rating his performance.

As far as the running back situation is concerned -  #1 Ryan Givens was a game-time decision and did not play Saturday.  Remember he hasn't played since being  injured in the 1st half vs. Wash U.

Patterson saw his first early and Saturday and looked good.  Coming off a hamstring injury and the Hawks scoring on its first seven possessions, he didn't get the reps that he would have received in a closer game with good field conditions.  When it shakes out I wouldn't be surprised if he is #2 but with as many RBs with similar talent who knows.

BadgerWarhawk was at the game and I'm interested to hear his thoughts.

With WW  leading 45-7 at halftime I'm surprised how well we actually played in the second half.

Ha! He gets two thumbs up from me!

Regarding BW's thoughts, I think he's out of town for a while...but I did receive word from him saying "MB played well...UWW looked good on both sides of the ball and on special teams". We'll have to wait for his return for further details.

BW been at more stadiums watching games the past week than a professional journalist. MLB games in Detroit, Cleveland and Toronto. Saturday's game at Buff State and a stop at Niagara Falls. Must be trying to attack his bucket list!!

Voice,
While in Canada did you have any chicken wings and Molson 3.0. You know Canadian beer is like moonshine.

First off let me say the weather conditions were miserable.  Not quite as bad as the game in St Louis last year but close.  It rained all day and 2.7 inches in Buffalo Saturday.

Given the weather and the drops I though MB looked better.  He threw a couple of bad balls but could easily have had a much better percentage if the rain hadn't made catching the ball a problem in itself.  The oline did a nice job of protecting him as well.  He got knocked down after throwing a couple of times and Buffalo State got called for a pair of roughing the passer penalties.  So overall the passing game looked decent.  Nelson got some playing time and would have completed both passing attempts except one was dropped.  Steve Morris's TD pass was nice.  I've seen them work on that play in practice and I was wondering if and when we would pull it out of the bag.  Also really nice to see Tommy Couglin get on the field.  Unlike some guys who have left after not getting playing time Couglin has stuck it out and  I respect that.  Huber makes a big difference.

Like Voice I think Givens is probably the #1 running back.  Patterson ran well and caught a couple of passes.  Ratliff averaged just over 5 yards a carry.  That's how I'd rank the running backs right now.

The offensive line looked like a different unit.  It's a young unit getting more experience with each game and week of practice.  I suspect the dlines in the WIAC will be more of a challenge so they need to continue to develop and coordinate as a unit.  Buffalo State was a step in the right direction.

The defense looked like what we've expected.  They had a great day and I think everyone played.  At the end I didn't recognize many numbers out there.

McLin and Howard are definite threats on kick off returns.  It was hard to tell much about the punt return unit.  Both coverage units did just fine.

I had a great time on vacation.  Three more stadiums crossed of the list of my quest to see a game in every MLB stadium, 14 down 16 to go.  I don't drink beer so I couldn't tell you anything about the Canadian brew.    However I can tell you that the 2 Bacardi/Coke for $5 at the TGIF in Buffalo can catch up with you if you're not careful.  :D

Buffalo State has some really nice athletic facilities.

While I was walking around in a Badger shirt in Niagara at the Falls some lady told me that the Badgers stink and the Boilers would beat them.  I responded with a laugh and telling her that Purdue football hadn't been relevant in such a long time that I didn't know they still played the game.  Then Saturday's game was a blow out.

Glad to see you did not loose your edge while on vacation and thanks for your review of the game.  I got a similar impression talking to someone who was stationed on top of the press box during those miserable conditions.

That sure was an exciting game to watch- I had it on the smart phone while fishing (I always have lots of spare time when I fish).
Congrats to the Johnnies- I'm glad they are back.

BW - good to have you back safe and sound as well.
Thanks for the report.

I just want to give a shout-out to the many former UW-Whitewater football players that will be back on campus this weekend for the 2013 Warhawk Football Alumni Weekend. I got a list yesterday of some of the former players that plan on attending the Friday afternoon golf outing at the WWCC. Thanks for being the energy behind the motto POWERED BY TRADITION and showing once again the truth of the saying ONCE A WARHAWK, ALWAYS A WARHAWK. Don't be surprised if you see me hanging around taking photos all weekend long. GO HAWKS!

What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!

I spent many years fighting that errant apostrophe that doesn't belong in Stevens Point, too. Now I can let it go. Remember, the Point doesn't belong to Steven, the Point is named after Mr. Stevens. :)

Don't get me started on "Stephens" or I may have a relapse.
