One question that pops into my mind is, how solid is their strength and conditioning staff/program? I know that has been a big part of UW-W's success and I believe it has played a major role in the resurgence of UW-O as well.

Yeah, UWO simply hired the strength/conditioning coach off the UWW staff. Was a nice move a few years ago.

Blanchard in Kansas City for tryout with Chiefs today.

Awesome to hear! I live down here in KC so I'll do my part to spread the word about what a coup the Chiefs may be picking up (I've got a lot of influence in the organization  ;D)

Seriously though, this could be a good opportunity for Blanchard. Sounds like he's already got connections on the coaching staff who must be speaking highly of him. And more than that, the new front office for the chiefs have gone out of their way to build the bottom of their roster in creative ways. They signed 7 guys - they're being called the Magnificent 7 down here - to the roster after other teams waived them. They are all producing well and it's shown that they are willing to get a bit unconventional in how they build, even cutting draft picks if they're out-performed by a free agent signing.

One of the 7, TE Sean McGrath, is another small college guy who's from the Chicago area as well. Let's hope the trend continues.

And maybe Blanchard should think of growing a beard like McGrath. It certainly hasn't hurt him for all the pub and screen time he gets:

Lots of pressure on you to get this deal done Hazz.  :)

As much as I'd like for Matt to be a Bear, maybe KC is a better environment.
Although I did think Matt had a good shot at the 53 man roster in Chicago- which doesn't appear to be the plan in KC.

If I understand the situation correctly he's only working out for the Chiefs and hasn't been offered or signed a contract with them yet.  Working out for the Chiefs suggests that his injury is sufficently healed that he can function.  So if the Bears wanted to retain him they could offer him a contract and put him back on the practice squad.

Yes, but under NFL rules that cannot happen until week 10, 5 weeks from now.  More teams than the Chiefs have expressed interest and I believe this will be the first of several work outs with teams for Matt.  I know that the Dolphins expressed interest at one point in time and it would not surprise me if we read about them next.  Also, Buffalo might be interested given their current QB issue.   There are many teams that need better QB depth and while I would love Matt to end up back with the Bears, I think being signed to a NFL contract before week 10 would be better for him.

Well said WD.  I guess Matt shouldn't really care about where I'd like him to play.  whatever.

BW... From what I have picked up today he IS healthy now that the bone in his left knuckle has healed. According to today's Chicago Tribune - Matt was given full medical clearance Monday.

Interesting poll on the D3football.com. What I find even more interesting are the results so far. I wonder if everyone sees Whitewater and just picks them by default given their past Stagg Bowl success.

Whitewater is doing much better than I originally picture them this season, but I still think UWP is the team to beat.

badgerwarhawk

Me too but that doesn't mean I'm going to pick them in a poll.

Similar dialogue on the Pool B Board, under General Football.

I'm also very happy about UWW's play.
I don't think UWP is the team any longer. Not enough defense.
In addition, the UWW pass defense has been far better than I expected- even compared to previous years I believe.
In Borland I Trust.

I'm on the right, met the Hanson's while they were doing the Bud Ice tour in Denver about 18 years ago.

Great pic, kubiack!  I hope you didn't start a fight after ....
What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!

Last I heard, one of the "Hansons" is coaching hockey in Kenosha.
