Before we put a wrap on last week and begin looking ahead to November football, one last thought that emerged from last weekend.  I think we can be looking forward to more "wars" between UW-W and UW-O for the foreseeable future. As has been mentioned several times, UW-W has no seniors on their O-Line two deep.Neither does UW-O on their D-Line!

Hopefully next year the home team can finally win a game in this series.  :)
Hmmmmm.....do I detect a note of sarcasm?  8-)   Other than last year, UWW won 48-21 in 2010, 40-7 in 2009, 26-14 in 2007, and 36-7 in 2005....all homegames.    Is that where you were headed 02?

WHD

UWW also won in 2006 17-3 at Titan Stadium. Scoreless 2nd half. Was a very close game.

Thought I would jump in here with something really negative.  Wasn't going to say anything because it always sounds like sour grapes, but so be it.  If anyone saw it or gets a chance to see the ending of the Platteville/Stout game, explain something to me.  With less than a minute to play, why would a coach continue to use all his starters and feel it was important to get that 59th point with another shot to the end zone to his leading receiver.  Add this little gem.  Said coach calls our coach last week to tell him to "Hang in there" because he has been there and knows what it's like.  Nice message on the phone, but how about following it up with some class on the field on game day.  Kind of makes the phone message kind of hollow doesn't it.  Clayt took 3 knees to run out the clock on his last possession to make his point.  By the way, I don't plan on anymore dialogue on my part regarding this subject.  Suffice to say, "Go Whitewater"

Up 17 with 4:00 minutes to go, and your opponent still had all their timeouts left...one could make an argument either way about leaving their starters in at that point in the game. But I could see your frustration if their coach presents himself one way, but acts another.

Did Vlasak get hurt that game? I see his last touch was early in the 3rd quarter when UWP went up 42-14. Or did they pull him, while keeping the rest of their key position players in?

They threw a TD pass with ONE minute left 02. Have seen UW-W in this situation many times. LL has the same consistent strategy. He will run up the middle 4 straight times as the clock is running down in the last couple of minutes when ahead by more that two scores.   Not only does he not try to score a TD, he won't kick a FG.  Four minutes left would be a completely different story (and it should be).  One minute? No way. UW-W runs up the middle every time and takes a knee if it will run out the clock.

Its football...you play until the final wistle. I never understood why fans complain about a team running up a score. I was part of a game where we were down 42-0 at halftime. The last thing on my mind was if the other team was going to run up the score.

Focus on what you can control...doing your responsibility and trusting that your teamates will do theirs.

UW-Whitewater offensive tackle Derrick Levake (94-97) goes into the UWW Athletics Hall of Fame on Saturday. The offensive tackle was the 1997 WIAC Player of the Year.  LeVake was a member of the U.S. Army Rangers prior to attending UW-Whitewater. He was "a man among boys" on the field. Read more...

We are having our usual problem scheduling out of conference games.  The last thing I had heard though it was a while back is that we have three home games scheduled for next year and they are all conference games. Perhaps things have changed since then I don't know.

Bleed, don't be surprised if you see Waldorf on our schedule next year.

I'd love to see St. John's do a home and home series with you guys.  I'm sure the new coach would be more open to that possibility.

I agree with you from the perspective of the players on the losing team. The last thing any coach wants (or should want anyway) is for his players to feel like they are some sort of victims. For the players, I agree 100%.  But from the perspective of a coach winning the game by 17 points with 1:00 minute left? What is there to gain by throwing a pass in that situation unless there is some sort of  tie-breaker that applies? Does a coach have every right in the world to throw a pass in that situation? YES. Does his choice to do so reflect anything about his character? MAYBE. Does a fan have the right to call him out on it? ABSOLUTELY.  Should the players on the losing side feel sorry for themselves or act like some sort of victims? ABSOLUTELY NOT.

Tell him the folks on D3boards give him the OK to schedule that game.

If you look under "Open Dates" for the first four weeks of next season, UWO is listed for three of the weeks. Several other WIAC schools have at least one open date. UWW does not appear.

North Central has two open dates, Wheaton has three.

I don't think anyone on here would complain about that series taking place.

I'm sure he'll get right on that, then.  ;D

Let me get Coach Ceroni on the phone and tell him to schedule North Central and Wheaton  :D   Since Coach C took over they have had at least one solid non-conf opponent each season...either of these teams would be a great non-conf contest. Though they immediately forces the need to finish undefeated in conference to make the playoffs.

Anyone have thoughts on Stevens Point this season? Lost 27-7 to North Central, 24-23 to UWP and 28-21 to UWLC.

Average margin of victory: 18 pts
Average margin of loss: 9 pts

Looks like most games have been close with a couple exceptions.

Yes, they have been sneaky good. they won't be an easy game for the top three in the WIAC this year (just as UWP)  ;).

I was surprised by that LX game though, I thought they would handle them.

Unfortunately this bolded statement is more than enough reason for me to oppose a UWW - St John's type of non con game. Like others I'd love to see the game but the loser faces immense pressure in conference play.

Maybe D3 can establish a sort of Pre-Season game whereby each team can designate a non conf game to not count toward its record. Similar to how the wiac treated the recent years where one WIAC game was considered non conf.
I'd like to think scheduling difficulties would be eased.
