I agree that UWO and good ole lax will still compete, however you can't forget about those pesky pointers.  I think lax is still down I mean there starting LB was a scout teamer for the hawks, doesn't say much about there D.  UWO is my pick to click next year, I think they are going to turn some heads.  Go Hawks!!!

Thats funny because I believe he set the national one game tackles record this year. Sounds more luck a tough loss for whitewater rather than a negative for the eagles. Just my opinion though.

Captain Kurt I don't believe you are out on a limb at all. For football the CCIW doesn't compare to the WIAC. Whitewater is going to Texas because noone with openings in their schedule in the CCIW would play. Let's face it on paper UWW should have a better team than last year and solid tranfers and a truckload of talented recruits will fill the few holes they have. Look for the Warhawks to be even more dominant in 2006 barring key injuries......

RE: UWEC football coach - applications for the position were due in last week. Target date for selecting a new coach is April 1, depending on how it goes... No word on candidates, though...

I've heard that Lakeland's head coach, Jim Zebrowski, is a candidate.

From what I have heard from UWEC players, Todd Glaser, former UWEC D Coordinator and Neillsville Head Coach threw his name in the hat.  I have a hard time believing that he won't get the job as there were many players here that felt that he should have been the head coach when he left UWEC.  It was NO coincidence that almost the ENTIRE staff left with him to go to Marietta.  As for SJU, I think they got a little more than they expected out of UWEC, losing to them every other year on average.  Maybe they are getting the wins they are looking for playing UWRF.

I've also heard that St Johns will not renew their contract with EC after this year's game.  Of course they have added River Falls.  Perhaps they'll fill that week with LaCrosse in the future.

I hope Morgan is a better husband then he was a pass protector Sorgi got killed against Auburn and Georgia, and it wasn't Joe Thomas giving up the sacks. It was good old # 75.
Anyways congrats to Morgan Davis.

I do not post on the badgermanic website.   Evidently Sean has been using the name on that website for a long time and that's his perogative.   Personally, I've never even visited the site.

Funny to see that this board is also looking at the WIAC vs. CCIW.  On our board, we are discussing whether or not the CCIW could compete.
I played between 1998-2000  and at that time, I would say the CCIW was no where in the vicinity of the WIAC.  The only one that would be able to hang for awhile was Augustana, and even then I don't think they could keep up for 4 qrtrs.
Nowadays, I think the CCIW could compete with the majority of the teams in the WIAC.  Obviously, UWW was something else last year ( and most likely this year too).
We scrimmage against UW Oshkosh and when our #1 lines face off against each other, they are pretty close and competitive.
I would say Augie, Wheaton, North Central, and Elmhurst ( most likely to compete------least likely to compete)  would be the 4 schools in the CCIW that I could see competing vs. the WIAC.
Why don't more CCIW schedule WIAC schools for non. conf.?   Haven't we been burned and skinned enough? :P  no just kidding!
I think for many of the schools, geography and travel is 1 issue.  Secondly, many of the schools ( Wheaton, NC, EC, Carthage) look for local rivalries to continue.  Ex  Kenosha/Waukesha  Elmhurst/Lisle,  Decatur/Indiana
I don't think the CCIW is "scared" to play the WIAC, rather it is hard to fit these games in sometimes.  There are 24 game dates available  ( 8 schools x 3 non confs.)
Tom Journell is going into his 3rd year with us and I can see him trying to schedule a game vs. Oshkosh or Platteville in the near future.

It seem to me that geographically,  Whitewater would be a natural fit for many of the schools in the CCIW.  Half of the conference is in the Chicago area.

CaptainKurt

Illinois and Wisconsin are right next to each other.  I can't see how logistics become a problem.  Augie seems to be the only team that has any courage when it comes to taking on a challenging non-conference schedule.

79jaybird, I don't think that the "CCIW could compete with the majority of the teams in the WIAC".  I think that is a bit of a strech IMO.  But it doesn't matter if the CCIW can or can't hang with the WIAC because the coaches within that conference refuse to schedule any of them.
