To spark some new conversation, what are the top 10 Warhawk games that you have been to?

I live in Oregon and saw both the 2005 Linfield and the 2008 Willamette playoff games.

To spark some new conversation, what are the top 10 Warhawk games that you have been to? TV and internet viewing do not count!

1. Linfield 2009 Semifinals- Can't really dispute them.
2. UMHB 2007 Semifinals- Surprised I didn't freeze to death at that game.
3. North Central 2010- Going down to Naperville in the snowstorm and being louder then twice as many NCC fans!
4. LaCrosse 2006 - First year of college, Homecoming, still a true rivalry with LaCrosse at that point, nobody liked them!
5. St Thomas 2011- Great, tough fought night game.
6. Wesley 2006- Kaboom! Crushing them for the second time in the Semifinals.
7. Wittenberg 2009- Tough game. What would have happened if their starting QB hadn't gotten knocked out?
8. Platteville 2012- Tough game, probably should have lost it but it was oh so sweet going into their house and beating them, especially with how the season turned out.
9. Trine 2010- Nice shootout with the UWW defense coming through in the end.
10. Stout 2011- Night game on my birthday, good friends there, dinner at Jessica's.

That North Central game might be my favorite. There was something about going on the road and knocking off the #1 team in the region. I remember running into a drunk NCC student as I walked into the stadium. He was swearing left and right at me, "we're going to kick your a$$...you little Whitewater %$@%&%!!" I just patted him on the shoulder and said "we'll see" and walked away. ;D

The UMHB was a lot of fun too. So damn cold that day. I remember talking with some MHB fans, and they weren't too happy with the weather. That was just a hard-fought low-scoring game.

That St. Thomas game was great too. They thought they had it going on with that offense of there's....only to get shutout. Just dominating defensive effort by the Hawks that day!

Wabash 2007 was a lot of fun...tons of snow that day. I recall arriving in the parking lot early to tailgate only to be stunned that 4-5 Wabash RV's were already there. They traveled very well.

My earliest memory of a great game was back in 1998 (my freshman year). Down by 1 against Stout, we got the ball back with roughly 30 seconds on the clock pinned deep in our own zone. Ty Grovesteen (UWW's QB) took the snap and scrambled around in the pocked for what seemed like an eternity. Then completed a 40-50 yard bomb in the middle of the field to get us to the 30 yard line with just seconds left. We quickly called a time out, and brought the field goal unit on and nailed a 40+ yard FG to win 45-43. That was my first great UWW football experience. I had a lot more hair back then....I'm getting old.

I bet people who were at the 2005 Linfield game would name that #1. I would still love to get a copy of the game film. the following game against Wesley was over in the first half....that was the first time we killed Wesley in the semi's.

That was the game Whitewater came out the tunnel, only to be met at midfield by the Wittenberg players dancing around our logo. Some words were exchanged along with pushing and shoving. It was almost like they tried to intimidate us on our own field. It obviously did't work. I remember walking to my seat when this went on and yelling "OH NO THEY  DI' INT!!!!" Then Coppage's mom turned around and gave me a high five.  ;D

2005  UWW 44  Linfield 41 Not only UWW's most exciting playoff game but the most exciting UWW game I've seen including the Stagg Bowl games vs. Mount Union.  I guess you would have had to be there.

I remember that as well and I said something about it here.  A Wittenberg supporter responded that it wasn't done with any disrespect intended but the team always danced around at midfield prior to a game.  I asked him if they always did it on their opponents field and logo but they never responded to that question.  At any rate we won so whatever it's intent was it was unsuccessfull.  Obviously losing their starting QB, who was really good if memory serves me, was a big blow.

Here is my top 10:

1 - 2009 Semifinal vs Linfield.  4th qtr rally, after Linfield owned the middle part of the game.
2 - 2010 at North Central.  Got turned around on campus trying to find the stadium.  Missed the start.  But enjoyed the finish.
3 - 2007 Semifinal vs MHB.  Had whipped them in the regular season, but the playoff was a total nailbiter on a frigid day.
4 - 2008 Playoff at Willamette.  Met a couple of Linfield guys watching the game, very nice people.  Great game, with the tiring UWW defense trying to cope with the Willamette speed.  Fortunately, the UWW rushing game wore down the Willamette D in a similar way.
5 - 2011 at Oshkosh.  You could feel the intensity up in the bleachers.
6 - 2007 Playoff vs Wabash.  Sleet and snow.  What a day.
7 - 2011 Semifinal vs St Thomas.  Should probably be higher, but it showed early that St T couldn't pass worth a damn and weren't going to come back from an early deficit.
8 - 2006 Playoff vs LaCrosse.  4th qtr score to eke out the win.
9 - 2006 Playoff vs St John's.  Much closer than the year before.
10 - 2005 Playoff vs St John's.  The start of a great run ....
What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!

02...

I often post parking lot photo galleries on Facebook. As for last Saturday's parking lot photos. Most were worthless due to fogging of my lens due to the damp morning at the Perk. It p*ssed me off!

I really don't get why teams get all up in arms about the midfield thing. (Just to clarify, Bethel doesn't do it, so I'm not trying to defend some tradition) But really, who cares  ??? If a team had run onto the middle of our field and danced around, I'd have looked at them, rolled my eyes, and concluded they must still think we were still in HS, where gimmicky warmup tricks where employed to intimidate the competition. To be honest, we'd have probably spent more energy laughing at them then getting angry. But maybe that's just a bit of a MIAC mentality. Most teams (with the exception of C-M) don't do any sort of elaborate warm-ups either. It's all pretty laid back and ad hoc.

To this point, I watched the YouTube clip from the 'Brawl' between NCC and IWU. The funniest part was watching the IWU players jumping up and down and banging their chest as they headed back to the sidelines. As if anything about what had just occurred was going to affect the game. It was comical, both that it was labeled a 'brawl' on YouTube and that these knuckleheads where so pumped up by it.

Speaking for myself, stepping onto the field was usually more than enough motivation!

What UWW does (I don't know if its been done this year, I've only been to one game so far) is run out of the locker rooms to midfield, jumps a few times and then goes to their sideline. To get to the sidelines they have to cross midfield so it's just a stop along the way. I personally wouldn't have thought it would have been that big for Wittenberg to jump at midfield and then go back to their side, not wait for the opposing players to come out and try and push and shove them around.

Salisbury tried the same thing in 2011.  Remember they were on the field when our guys came on the field the normal way and they started taunting.   Our guys kind of just laughed, walked away and then kicked their #%$&!  :o :o ;D won the game.   8-)

For Brian Carroll and the rest of the UWL faithful, a friend of mine posted this on you tube,  UWL v. UWW 1992, first UWL Stagg championship year.  We held LaX to 13 points, (the least they scored all year including playoffs) but just couldn't score enough for the win. :'(

Now, that little nugget of info changes everything. At first blush I read it to have been the case that UWW came out and got all huffy because Witt was at midfield on their logo. If Witt was there, waiting and seeking to have a little confrontation... ::) Then no shame on UWW, but a thousand eye rolls towards Wittenberg.

On a side note...who dinged my karma for the previous comment?  ??? I swear, I didn't write that post while jumping on a printout of the Warhawk logo, really I swear  ;D 8-)
