Linfield will smoke Pacific.

It's interesting that you mention your "weird attachment" to Linfield and the NWC.  I've felt the same thing since our first meeting.  Initially it was just to poke good natured fun at the CatDome thing but it's matured into a respect for both.  The few Linfield fans I've met or interacted with all seem like pretty decent folk.

It's more that I like a good underdog story and support the new team in the Pacific that has come a long way in a short time. Plus they are fighting against their own goliath (Linfield) who while all nice people always seem to be very overconfident in their team. (Though they should have beaten Wesley a few years ago). I'm rooting for Pacific (but you're right, they will smoke them) mainly because then they'd have no claim to that Number 1 seed.  ;D

From the first half of the first quarter I could tell it was going to be an ugly game. Good thing I didn't have to watch it all the way through because of other commitments because I knew I wouldn't have been happy about it at the end. But a win is a win, and UWW has had many games like this throughout the 7 year streak.

Surprised that they moved above Bethel by a point, but I'll take that too!  ;D

Not as surprised as me - SOS not taken into account, the results of the Bethel game should have kept them above Whitewater.  Oh well, we'll see what happens when they meet.

On the positive side BC- it's not the D3 poll that matters. The seedings and brackets are yet to come.

Not sure if it was or wasn't, but for the record, UW-W has a stronger SOS than Bethel. UW-W is 13th and Bethel is 23rd.

That should flip after this weekend with Bethel playing 7-2 St. Johns and UW-W playing 0-9 River Falls.

You better become Johnnie fans this week, since I would guess that a Bethel win over St John's will give Bethel a nudge upward, and probable put them ahead of UWW, who, even though they are playing a team from the mighty WIAC.........................

Where have I heard that before?

A Bethel win will also knock St. John's off the regional rankings list (if they are still on it tomorrow). That will give Bethel one less win against a RRO.

Also, it'll be interesting to see if CM falls off the rankings with the loss to UST.

However, I agree...a St. John win will be even better.

It's my understanding that once regionally ranked always regionally ranked when it comes to determining who has a win or loss to a regionally ranked team.

Perhaps Pat could clarify that for us when he has a chance.

We should also all become Pacific fans this week. It's not hard to root against the Linfield fans.  ;D Plus it's a feel good story. Should probably also say they're the team (Pacific) that I've formed some sort of weird attachment too and root for in that coference. Which is why I'd like a home and away sereis with them and UWW.  :P

I don't think we have to worry about Linfield. Their SOS isn't that great, hence them being 3rd on the regional rankings. I don't see them passing Whitewater (or Bethel) when they win out

Pat explained that has been the case in the past, but this year they are switching it up. They are basing regional ranked wins off the final regional rankings (which we never see). So hopefully CM falls off tomorrow, and St. Thomas doesn't enter. Or a Bethel loss would do  ;D

How about that. St. John's is 7-2 and one of their victories is against 0-9 UW River Falls- by a field goal w 2 seconds left.
IL Gator -I understand you're only pointing out the facts- but this is another example of why subjectivity is important to balance the pure numbers. The records of the two teams in question hardly tells the story of whether they are a hard team to beat- which really is the point.

Someone should remind the Pointers' public address announcer that he's not a cheerleader.  PA announcers are neutral narrators of the game.

I've never been to a football game in which the announcer wasn't 100% pulling for his home team. Why would the PA announcer need to be a nuetral narrator of the game? Sorry, I don't agree with this post (unless I'm missing sarcasm?)

UWO versus UWP this Saturday!

Does the winner get in? Here's hoping!

About 99% likely. And my guess is it'll be UWO as well. They can be placed on the other side of the bracket please.  ;D
