K&J, please excuse the UWW faithful.  Why would many of them recognize anything 8+ years ago? Did they even have a team?  I was 90% sure their first game was at Mount in 2003 or 2004.  The Warhawks dont need history to be the best EVER!!!! They play in the WIAC, dont be crazy

Purple Suit,

UMU is hands down, the most dominating D3 football program in history. No argument.
Doing a quick fact check I notice UWW holds a four game to three advantage over the Purple Raiders in the Stagg Bowl even if it IS in the past 8 years.  Good luck to UMU on Saturday vs. NCC

Regarding the discussion on linebackers. Several years ago I asked Nate Kmic (Mount's former running back who holds numerous all NCAA division rushing records) who the toughest players were that he had played against. His response was, "the UW-Whiterwater linebackers.
Since, at least recordwise he was the greatest running back in the history of college football, that's good enough for me.

Wow...this got out of hand in a hurry (thanks Mount fans and retagent for that).

I was simply having a discussion with CruFrenzy about the level of tallent at the LB position at our respected schools. But that somehow turned into UWW fans thinking we are the "best ever" because we started having success in 2005.  ???

We all know Mount can trump every D3 football discussion when comparing teams, stats, history, etc.
Radtke and Wenger weren't slouches.

                 Years     Tackles    Interceptions    Passes Defended
Radtke      02-05        466                                         29
Wenger     06-10        422              10

Radtke All-Region awards:
Football Gazette All-North Region
First Team - 2004, 2005
D3football.com All-North Region
First Team - 2005

Wenger All-Region awards:
D3football.com All-North Region
Third Team - 2007
First Team - 2008, 2010
North Region Defensive
Player of the Year - 2010
Academic All-District
First Team - 2010

Radtke All-American awards:
Football Gazette All-American
First Team - 2004, 2005
D3football.com All-American
Second Team - 2004, 2005
AFCA All-American - 2005
Associated Press Little All-American - 2005

Wenger All-American awards:
AFCA All-American
2008, 2010
D3football.com All-American
Second Team - 2008
First Team - 2010

And we can even toss Chris Bazant into the mix (03-06)
Football Gazette All-North Region
Third Team - 2006
D3football.com All-North Region
Third Team - 2006

NCC has had some good linebackers since in Garza, Michals and Slezak.
Garza D3football.com All-North Region First Team - 2010
Michals D3football.com All-North Region Third Team - 2012
Slezak D3football.com All-North Region Second Team - 2013

But they didn't show quite the level of dominance as Radtke and Wenger.  I think all of these young men have the tools, but Radtke and Wenger had the privilege of being coached by Bill Weinke, who, I believe, is one of the finest LB coaches in America.

if we are discussing history, why would we dismiss the regular season match-ups?  I hope Mount has a chance to even it up against UWW in Stagg Bowl, but you guys keep missing the playoffs and going on the road in the semis

;)

Sorry about the article. Positive newspaper stories are no longer in vogue in this day and age. Jeff's next story will start with a disclaimer that any player mentioned is really good but not to the standard set at Mount Union.  Good luck on Saturday

I turn my back on you kids for ONE MINUTE and look what happens!   ::) ;D

Plenty of time for UWW/Mount banter IF both get to the Stagg Bowl.  As of now, I think that is quite a bit premature, although I really think Mount has a much better chance then good ole' Emma is giving them against his mistress NCC.   ;D

Jeff probably would have written about Mount Union if the mere thought of them didn't cause him to wet his pants.
