Congrats to UWW on the hard of fought win. The Warhawks made big plays when they needed them. Now go and win another Stagg Bowl!

All I will say about the decision by UMHB to kick the field goal is this: I would feel better about losing had we gone for it.

Obviously, Pete Fredenburg is an exceptional coach, but I think he must have had a 'brain-fart' today and handed you a huge gift.  Going for a FG when down 4 with 3:29(?) to go, was unfathomable.  Putting WAY too much pressure on the defense.  Especially when he called a timeout to dream up this decision!  As UWW proved, only ONE first down was required to effectively end the game (without that timeout, it would have taken two first downs).

If you have THAT much faith in your defense, it is STILL the wrong decision.  Going for the TD leaves UWW somewhere well inside the 5-yd line.  Quite possibly a safety (if your defense is THAT good), in which case you get the ball back where a FG would win the game.  Even if not, you (probably) get more time and better field position after they punt.

A bizarre decision.

After watching both games today IMHO Linfield would have beaten Whitewater at home and NCC would have beaten MUC at home. I know it's a would of should of thing but that's what home field advantage does. UMHB didn't look that good to me. They deserved to loose at home. Especially when they kicked the field go with 3 minutes left being down by 4 on the 4 yard line....they should have a play for that for the score....just my opinion.

Like most UW fan, I watched the game online.  I jumped for joy when UMHB decided on the field goal as well.  I guarantee UMU won't make the same decision if faced with a chance to win the game.   A decision like that eventually cost Mike Sherman his job with the Packers, when he decided not to go for it on 4th and 1 against Philadelphia (the 4th & 26 game).  Every Packer lineman wanted to go for it!!!  Very conservative call in my opinion.

Wanted to give another huge congrats to all the UWW players this year. Not even picked to win the conference they go 14-0 defeating the #2, 3, 7, 11, and 20th teams in the nation going undefeated going into the national championship game. Hopefully they can cap off the season by stopping their 3rd or 4th unstoppable offense and winning their 5th national championship.

Also great to see that Huber is the only starting senior on the offense but the defense will lose a lot going into next year.

ya but...if...could have...would have...should have...Oh well.

UW-W and Mount Union are once again the two best teams in Division III football. Not by much this year, but the two best nonetheless.

GO HAWKS!

I'm not so sure Wisconsin - Whitewater played their best game today either... What if Kindler makes the field goal that he usually makes? A lot of would haves should haves and assumptions.

There are different ways to go about winning football games-
UWW has their way.  There are many times during a game that I find myself wanting more entertainment value from the offense- but then I think about the many, many really good teams that UWW has beat in Coach LL's 7 year run. So many of them provided tremendous offensive entertainment value to their fans throughout their seasons- that ultimately ended in defeat. UWW isn't always the most fun to watch but I've never been more proud to be a UWW fan.
They know themselves and what it takes for them to be successful- and they just do it.
Congrats to the team for a remarkable season in every way imagineable.
One more time.

I'm blown away that some posters still don't get it when it comes to UWW'S D. Linfield and UMHB scored 32 points combined.

Yes!  Like old times. My team is back where they are supposed to be!  I'm so happy for you guys!  Can't wait to see you'all next Wednesday!! I'm hoping that all the snow of this week will give way to better weather for next week's festivities.  Pound the rock before you fly into Salem. Hope someone will bring me a UWW pin for luck. I didn't get one the last time. .  .  . See you in 4!!

Who is it that determines what "supposed to be." Can I meet this dude? I'd like to show him how the cow ate the cabbage. (I don't know what that means, but I heard it once, and thought I'd use it.)

Agree Emma.  Had not had the chance to see UWW play this year so yesterday was interesting to me.  The size difference was huge and wore down UMHB.  The defense flies to the ball and attacks the play.  They give up yards, but not often on consecutive plays so the other offense has to sustain a drive.  The offense is efficient, not fancy.  Plays get made when they have to and they are not afraid to punt and live another day.

I have seen Mount play twice this year and the offense is good.  Burke is really good and makes play after play, sometimes from out of nowhere with no chance.  All that being said I think UWW is going to be tough for Mount to beat.  It will be the best defense they have seen this year.  I expect them to take away the running lanes for Burke and Mitchell and force him to pass to win.  He may pull it off.  The UWW offense will be able to throw the ball, your receivers looked pretty good to me and the transfer (cant think of his name at present) will be able to get open all day.  Right now I think UWW wins this game.

I think this will be a really good game to watch, I was hoping for different teams, but at least we know that both teams travel well so the tailgating will be fun as usual.  Looking forward to seeing you guys again, will be with the Stone Station crew, stop by and say hi again.

It's personal opinion, in this case hers, is what determines "what is supposed to be". So obviously to you it's not but this is the way some people think it's supposed to be. It's really sad to always see you come over here and be so defensive and angry about things that are always personal opinion such as a MIAC team losing or someone thinking someone will beat someone else.  ::)

Just a heads up....ESPNU is broadcasting both playoff games next week. Mount and NCC is on Wednesday the 18th  at 1PM and WW and UMHB will be on Thursday the 19th  at 1PM. Get those DVR's cranked up. ;D
