No other D3 school has won National Championships in all three sports (FB, basketball, and baseball) in their ENTIRE HISTORY and UW-W just did it in one season! Just think about that...

....so when do I get my free drink?   ;D

How about in the parking lot at the Perk in December?

LOL....OK!  :-X

Congrats to UWL AD Josh Whitman on his selection as Washington U's new AD. He did a great job in La Crosse, and he will be missed. I am certain he will be a great asset at Washington U. I wish him continued success in his career.

I wonder how many private schools will complain about Josh Whitman's status as AD... because of his previous service at a public school....

NYT article about the triple crown. http://www.nytimes.com/2014/05/31/sports/wisconsin-whitewater-is-a-ncaa-division-iii-champion-in-three-sports.html?_r=1

To make it seem even more unlikely.... all three teams weren't even selected to win its conference to start the year.

Point - baseball and basketball
Platteville - football

That's a great point. As Bleed already noted, UWSP made sense. In hindsight, UWP didn't.

But congrats to the Warhawks, it's quite the feat!

In defense of the SIDs Platteville made sense preseason when the poll was taken.  They had finished 2nd the previous year and returned 9 starters on the #1 conference ranked offense.  While defensively they had only ranked 4th and were returning 6 starters I'm suspect offense tends to get your attention.  So while it wasn't the vote I would have cast I don't think it was "silly."

And you have to remember that none of the SIDs yet realized WIWA.   Heck, some of us weren't even sure of that at that point in time.  :)

Yep, I thought Platteville was the better team heading into that season.

...and not just SIDs! Head coaches voted on that poll too.

It says UWW scored on 16 sports, while Williams scored on 17 sports. If you count up all Willaims' sports (Fall, Winter and Spring) in the standings, Williams has 21 sports listed. They could only post their best 17 because they exceed the (9 women and 9 men maximum).

Williams has now won 17 of the last 19 Cups!!! That's crazy.

Great showing by the WIAC...well done!

Unless something drastically changes, it's nearly impossible to beat Williams in the Director's Cup. This year, probably more than any other years shows that. You'd probably need to score in all 18 possible sports (if you even have that many) and win four or five national titles and go top 8 in another 4 or 5 sports.
