Sorry to anyone who visited warhawkfootball.com and found it close to unreadable.  I've got that glitch straightened out.  The site will be a work in process for the foreseeable future, but hopefully the content and ease of navigation will make it more than worth it to visit regularly as the site is being built.

September 5th Pre-game at the Perk video is now posted!

Outstanding video of the Pre-game Bleed.  I especially like that you got 02 to admit he is fairly positive this year (normally a worry wart!  ;D ;D)   Also getting Emma's better half on video is always a good thing    8-) 8-)

Well done!   Hope to get to the Perk for the LaCrosse game.

WHD

Ha! I still need to watch that.

anyone getting the UWO video stream working?

Yes, unfortunately. Titans down to NAIA Robert Morris 21-3. Embarrassing so far.

Great line by UW-O student announcer: "It's what is seems like right now, Neil."

Not the start to the season UWO was looking for.

Offense only got 11 first downs and 209 yds of total offense. Defense gave up 23 first downs and 363 yds of offense. Special Teams gave up 204 return yards...yikes.

UWO starts a SO/SO/FR/SO/SR on the OLine. 5 SRs, 2 JRs, 4 SOs, 1 FR.
UWO starts many upperclassment on Defense though: 8 SRs, 3 SOs.

NAIA Marian University next week. Marian lost last week to Saint Xavier 65-38 last week. Hopefully UWO offense can score on a D that just gave up 65 points. Marian was 6-5 last season.

D1 FCS South Dakota State week after that. SDS lost 18-38 to Missouri week 1. They beat Cal Poly 44-18 week 2.

They had only 3 guys returning from last year's team on offense. First game of the season is always tough, when so little is returning to one side of the ball.

Defense, UWO should still be solid though...they returned 7. Plus had a Badger walk-on (Kevin MacCudden) join the team at LB this year, didn't they?

Kevin MacCudden is on the roster (#33, 5'11" 205 from waukesha west). Right now he's a 2nd string OLB.

They have 5 returning defensive front (3 DL and 2 LBs), not 7. At least that is my understanding.
"A GOOD leader makes you feel as though THEY can conquer the world. A GREAT leader makes you feel as though YOU can conquer the world."

Coach Dettwiler and the UWL Eagles deserve congratulations for their 24-8 road win over Dubuque last Saturday. It was a satisfying victory. After gaining just over 100 YPG on the ground last year, the Eagles piled up 235 yds. on 50 carries, many of which came late as the offensive line had worn the Spartans down. QB Trent Cummings tossed several excellent passes, including a beautiful 34 yd. TD to Tony Bilderback, who blew past two defenders for the score. Our hosts were generous, with no fewer than 6 turnovers being provided. On balance, a fine outing in an important game. On the downside, La Crosse was 2 of 6 in the red zone, which would be fatal in many games. Progress was apparent, however, and that is gratifying. Redshirt Frosh Colton Peterson will start at QB on Saturday at St. Thomas, as Cummings has bruised ribs. The coaches have confidence in him, and I think he has talent. Still, the Tommies are a tall order and I believe they will score a narrow win over the Eagles. I hope I am wrong.

Coach Lance Leipold discusses a variety of things including takeaways from last week's game, thoughts on travel, and the prospects of facing a team that will likely throw a ton of passes on Saturday:

Pat Coleman & Ryan Tipps of D3football.com both smell a potential upset in this weeks edition of Triple Take.

That would be great. I still remember a few years back when UW-Eau Claire had St. Thomas on the ropes in the closing minutes. Then blew the game on some questionable play calling. UWEC had that game in the bag.

Hopefully UWL can get the job done. It'll be a good test to see how they've progressed.

I see BoBo is back picking games in the Pickems....but hasn't made his way back to the message boards yet.

(that's your queue BoBo)

One of Franklin's announcer doesn't know how to say "Wisconsin" at all.

emma17

That was an interesting game for the Dub.  A valuable first half for the defense to get experience.  I thought Franklin would go after the middle of the defense and rookie linebackers more than they did.

It was good to see Givens get a breakaway TD run.  Seems he's been close a number of times.

I feel we say this 5 times a season.... But how many times has a team scored a few times on UWW in the first half, then just looked completely ouch matched in the second? UWW's ability to make adjustments and shut down the opposition's offense never ceases to amaze me.

Also, wtf happened in Oshkosh? I was watching it and I actually turned it off when the titans retained the ball and had the lead with a minute to go. The Oshkosh announcers were even saying the game was over. Needless to say I as stunned to find out they lost on a last second 25 TD pass.

retagent

I don't know if it was a typo, or whether it was meant as written, but I really like the phrase "Ouch Matched" in the above posting, especially in its context. :D
