I see nothing on the team's official site or Warhawkfootball.com that indicates Robb Widuch has any eligibility left. In fact, a Widuch feature on Warhawkfootball.com specifically says he came from Madison with two years of eligibility and he did play in 2004 and 2005.

In regards to UW-Whitewater linebacker Robb Widuch.  The All-Conference linebacker WILL be back this Fall.  His transcripts have been cleared and he does have one more year of eligibility remaining.  Widuch made the decision prior to the 05-06  spring semester.

Entering last season Widuch was in line to accumulate the necessary credits to earn his degree this past spring.

Each year, you find a number of players in the WIAC that fall into the same category.

I know, many of us were surprised to hear the good news and even more pleased to learn Robb intended to make use of it.   I figured you were just unaware of it but some of us had mentioned it on the board in the past and I was wondering.

I wouldn't have even bothered but you put an Oshkosh player in his place.  ;)

I realize it is a difficult task each year to pick All-Americans and I realize you depend on many different sources for info.....It is easy to sit back and complain in this subjective area----the player that to me is simply overlooked by everyone is Derrick Stanley. Not only is he a huge part of THE UWW offense---he is also a huge part of their defense and special teams. He is a big play guy who comes up big in the important games. I have been at every UWW game for the last 3 years and in my opinion Stanley deserves some recognition on at least one All-American team. I bet he will be there at the end of the season when it counts most.....

Well, at the end of the season we pick four teams instead of two, so we'll have more room for players. But frankly, I wouldn't put Stanley ahead of Mount Union's Pierre Garcon (and I saw each play more than once) and we didn't have Garcon on the team either.

CaptainKurt

I wouldn't hesitate to put Stanley ahead of anyone.  Although Garrcon has tremendous athleticism, you can find that same athleticism in Stanley by considering his numerous track and field accomplishments.  Garcon has his own track and field accomplishments, so I think the best question is, who the hell are these other WR's??  They must be pretty good to make it over these two WR's.  But like Sakman said, the most deserving will get it at the end of the year when it counts.

Sakman 1111

Don't want to start a debate because I think you do a great job picking the teams each year but I don't see how Stanley's name never appears on any team. I agree with Captain Kurt these 4 guys that were picked ahead of Garcon and Stanley must be something to behold.

Stanley came up huge in the Johnnie game.  3 catches for 120 yds of the Hawks 192 total passing.  That leaping  catch in the end-zone was something.  Still can't believe he ran down then dove to catch that bomb.  He was clearly the difference.  The only way to beat WW is to contain Stanley.

Sakman 1111...did you get to see the WW-LINFIELD game?

Reminded me of when Gagliardi put Blake Elliott into the backfield to mix LINFIELD schemes up a bit.
Derek did a bang up job covering D3's 2005 All-American receiver.

I watched him make a alot of catches like that last season. Jaw dropped many times trying to figure out how he made the catch.  The Stagg Bowl may have been the only game all year that we didn't see an amazing catch from Derek.  Of course, in my opinion, MUC got away a few times with guarding him too aggressively and when the stripes didn't call pass interference another time because the ball was ruled, "uncatchable," I thought to myself, not for Derek...... ;D ;D

I'm betting they know all about Derek up in Green Bay.  So who will take Lachinski's spot.

footballfan413

Scouts from the NY Jets were at UWW looking at him along wth a few others last spring.

Lance Douglas and Neil Mrkvicka saw time at WR last season so they are the obvious choices.  I also just heard rumblings about a transfer WR that looks to be very good, as well as a group of WR recruits that look to be one of the  best groups ever at UWW so should be a horse race.

It will be rough taking #7's place but there is #1 Mrkvicka,#8 Douglas, a transfer from Iowa that was injured last year, and possibly another transfer or two that are supposed to be very good. Remember we have the best tight end in the WIAC.....

KennethK

If Kmic doesn't run that one back 96 yds the Hawks are probably defending national champs.  La Crosse took you to OT last year..can they do the same this year?  Mayby MHB can give you a game.

Sakman 1111

It will be tough because everyone will be after the Warhawks but if they stay away from key injuries and have a little luck they could be in Virginia again. MHB and Azusa are tougher non-conference games. LaCrosse is always a tough game and was close last year because of long-snapping problems. Skill positions are exemplary, offensive line is awesome, defensive line very solid, linebackers are  really strong, defensive backfield is the only ?????......if they get that together they could be the best in division 3......
