Know that that goof ball pundtherock, warhawkalum, warhawkbadger, or whatever other screen name he has is gone. I hope we can get back to the real issue at hand the football and the WIAC.
With camp starting In 12 days here are my predictions for the 2006 season.
1.   Whitewater-The warhawks have to be the favorite after finishing second in the nation to Mount Union. They will obviously have a big target on their back. However with the return of Stanley, Jacobs, Beaver and four of the five offensive lineman. The warhawks should be able to run the table again. My only worry is the mid October trip to Texas for a non conference game. October is when they should be knocking heads with the WIA foes, and not an non conference opponent
2.   Lacrosse The eagles will give the Hawks their toughest test. However they will fall short in the race for the WIAC crown
3.   Stout- The always tough Blue Devils will once again make a run for the title however they will come up short to both Lacrosse and Whitewater
4.   Oshkosh- This is the best Oshkosh team that they have had in a long time, and they will also make a run at the hawks. Only to be buried by the more dominant Hawks. September 23 will be a fun night at titan stadium in Oshkosh.
5.   Eau Claire- I have to admit that I do not know much about UWEC new coach will the offense change, will the defense change and will fall camp give them enough time to learn a new system. Only time will tell
6.   Stevens Point- With a number of new coaches some questions are still there about the Pointers. However they like everyone else will be competitive in the WIAC. You can count on that
7.   River Falls- Rumor around the WIAC is that the Falcons are going to be running the shotgun out of the shotgun only this fall. I once again don't know a lot about their personnel. However I do know that Coach O'Grady will have them ready to play every week.
8.   Platteville- Two years ago UWP got a stunning upset victory over the Warhawks of whitewater 7-6. Last year they weren't so lucky. Only if coach Emendorfer could get a great defense to go along with a very potent offense.

Doc:  You seem to have some knowledge of River Falls.  What can the Johnnies expect to see from the Falcons second game of the season?

badgerwarhawk

They can expect to see a lot of Nathan Anderson.

I am just reporting what I have been told through the grape vine. All I know is that the Johnnies can expect a very tough physical match up against the falcons, as well as a lot of the anderson kid, like badger said.
Good luck to the johnnies, and maybe they will be making another trip down to the great city of Whitewater come playoff time.

Mr. Downtown

Expect River Falls to run about 5 different plays...all involving Nathan Anderson

Doclittle, I like some of your predictions...but someone would really need to do some convincing for Lax. Yes, they have been the most dominating force in the WIAC the past 5 years. But I dunno know, I don't see it from this year, and what I saw from last year, more and more teams have caught up to LAX.

Now Whitewater is a different story, but I do think the Warhawks toughest game in the WIAC is the road trip up to Oshkosh. Believe it or not, we probably will have a healthy crowd seeing its a night game.

I would go with this

1. WW
2. Stout
3. Oshkosh
4. LAX
5. Stevens Points
6. EC
7. Platteville
8. River Falls

CaptainKurt

My picks are as follows.....

1. Superior
2. Parkside
3. Fond du Lac
4. Waukesha
5. Green Bay
6. Milwaukee

Just kidding....I need a couple more weeks before I get serious about this....at least until after the media day.

Sakman 1111

I agree with Downtown that the Osh Kosh game could be the toughest. Night game, TV, and a big crowd ....the Warhawks better bring their "A" game. If they do play like they are capable I don't think Osh Kosh or anyone else in the WIAC can beat them but I guess that is why they play the game......

Don't know why now I can't see the previous years results of games played.  I wanted to see what Oshkosh's home record was the previous years but can't get them.  Something always changes.  I also don't know why I can't post on here regularly or send PM's.  Am I doing something wrong?  I sign in and the top of my page addresses me as Pastprime but I am frequently asked to sign in again after I type a post or comment to someone elses.
I may not have much to say, but I'll say it anyway.

Oshkosh was 4-1 at home last season, with their lone loss coming to River Falls 13-10 in OT.

What kind of TV coverage are we talkin about here?

doclittle

I totally agree that the warhawks toughest road trip in conference will be the one at Oshkosh.
The titans always play well at their house, and have gotten better in recent years. I will always remember the 2002 game where the Titans stunned the warhawks the last game of the year. Which was the first time since 1976 that Whitewater lost to oshkosh.
However I truly believe that despite an y major injuries the Warhawks are going to have one heck of a season. The only game that scares me right know is the mid october trip to Texas. Non conference games are suppose to be played in September not mid October when the WIAC title chase is just starting to heat up.
Luckily for the warhawks everyone will be chasing them instead of them having to chase other teams.
We will see on Wednesday but I will put the purchase of some adult beverages on it at one of whitewaters fine establishments that the Warhawks are picked to win the title.
Any takers on this bet. I am facing the fact that I am going to lose this one.

Frank Rizzo,
Read back a couple of pages.  Fox Sports North has some type of deal in the works that would televise WIAC games for about 5 years.  The Whiteater-Oshkosh game this year is already on the bill.

pastprime

If I recall, officially, Oshkosh lost that game and all the others that year due to a forfeit of the entire season for rule enfractions.  If I am wrong, please tell me.
