CaptainKurt

Whose going to keep score this year on all of our meaningless predictions??

Oldpa...where've you been??

Stoutguy - Menomonie 45 / Mukwanago 6.  Is Menomonie that good this year or is Muk rebuilding with new head coach?

Badgerwarhawk,
You are correct about the fact that Elmhurst did not score a TD all day. I was impressed how Elmhurst drove down the field, and then was forced to kick a field goal, not once but twice during the scrimmage. I see coach Borland has the boys ready to bend and not break during the seasn.
Offensively Stanley is the man,and his play on saturday makes me questio why coach Z didn't have him run the fade route in the endzone on fourth down during the stagg Bowl. I know Jim L was a senior. However Stanley can out jump any DB that Mount Union had on the field.
The running game looked like it was struggling which is not good news if Justin Beaver gets hurt. ;)
Also I was impressed by the fact that the Warhawks didn't run the fake kickoff return which never tricked anyone.  :)
I also don't think anyone in their right minds will be kicking the ball to Stanley, as he will take at least two kicks to the house this year. ;)
Like I sai earlier I expect to see the Warhawks in Salem Virginia the saturday before christmas. As I expect a repeat of what they did last season. As one it is coach B's last season and he deserves it and two. It will prove that ast season was not a fluke.
Finally I predict the score of the Lakeland game to be a blow out again 70 - 00 vs the 1st defense.
Like I said one of the offensive coaches guaranteed me that they will score 40 points a game. I know they can do it against Lakeland Plattebille, and Stevens Point. Whether they can do it again the toughr defenses int he WIAC aka Lacrosse is nother story.

Lets just say that about a week before christmas I expect to see them in Virginia playing and winning the national title.

I'd be very surprised and impressed.

UWW surprising the Johnnies......I believe they can do that.  In fact, I believe they already have!!  ;D ;D ;D

LOL ;D  They'll have a target on their backs this year :P

Mr. Downtown

Hey everyone

Here's a website you might want to check out from time to time. It's the TV show that I produce (Inside The Locker-Room) on the Oshkosh Campus, and we have done quite a bit on the football in the WIAC.

Check out our Preseason Power Rankings, or our 10 Biggest Football games of the year!

Its still a work in progress, but we hope to have all of the sports covered soon (the Women's Soccer predictions were just released).

Take a look here : http://insidethelockerroom.googlepages.com/football

Often times, I'll just copy and past my idea's of the conference from the website. You can check out my article as well about "don't expect the unexpected" this WIAC season.

For those who visit, thanks!!

After watching the Warhawks scrimmage against Elmhurst I think A.J. Raebel (Warhawk linebacker) will have a monster year. The guy has really packed on some weight to his frame. I overheard his mother say that he has put on 25 pounds since the Stagg Bowl and without a loss of speed. He is up to 240 pounds.

I don't think Chuck Norris could make the Whitewater team this year if he tried out.

Combination of those two, I would say.  Yes, Menomonie will again be very good but Mukwanago lost a great coach, several assistants applied, and the ones who didn't get the job quit, so I think the new guy has his hands full with that program.  Watch Menomonie's Trevor Feige this year.  The kid will be a man among boys in the Big Rivers Conference.

Downtown,

I am an ASC and SCAC fan who comes to the WIAC site  some because of the crossover games with Hardin Simmons and UMHB.  No offense intended but I find it interesting that the Whitewater-UMHB game did not make your Top 10.  Just curious as to why a matchup of the last two Stagg Bowl runner-ups did not make it.
Anything that you ardently desire, vividly imagine, totally believe and enthusiastically pursue will inevitably come to pass !!!

Anyone attend the EC..St Thomas scrimmage Saturday?  Who will we see at QB for the Bluegolds?

Chuck Norris will deliver a roundhouse kick to CaptainKurt's head for even suggesting there is something that Chuck Norris can't do.

Mr. Downtown--The content of your new website is outstanding, especially the graphics. I will check it out in the future.

Evidently, however, nobody bothered to proofread. For example, the first sentence of Josh Howard's story, "Warhawks Flying to Stagg Bowl," does not make sense. It's not what the  writer intended to say. And by this time in anyone's educational career, simple mistakes involving the diifference between "who's, whose," and "there, their," should have been eliminated.

Do these examples of mistakes in English usage really matter? Probably not on this board, but I would think that when people want to put themselves out there as representatives of a well regarded school of higher education, or even as college educated types, they would take more pride in their ability to write basic English sentences.

I don't mean to be hyper-critical, but as a former high school English teacher, I have to wonder what's going on (and if I weren't a techno-dumdum, I'd put the yellow face with the three question marks above it right here).

Best wishes with your new site.

Mr. Downtown

Thanks for the comments about the website.

I had the articles proofread, but one thing to keep in mind when it come's headlines that in the AP style book in no way do headlines have to be complete sentences (or, take a took look here from Stanford University:http://irt.stanford.edu/web/style_guide/headlines.html).

Sometimes the best headlines are fragments because of their ability to draw the reader into an article (which is the sole purpose of a headline).

It's alright though, I'll always double check. But one thing I have learned in my life (coming from the deep south of Dallas, Texas and Sarasota, Florida) that the English-American language is up in the air what's right and what's wrong.

Maybe I should email all of the articles to someone in England. They claim to be the only people in the world that use the English language correctly.

On the Mary-Hardin and Whitewater game, we tried to pick the 10 best WIAC games, and we did include some non-conference games at the beginning of the season (RF/EC vs. St. Johns, and Point's trip to Texas).

When considering the game in question, at least I felt that the game was so late in the season that it really didn't affect the WIAC a whole lot. If Whitewater were to lose that game, then it would hurt their chances of what seed they would be in the play-offs, but if they finished undefeated in the WIAC again, then the game doesn't mean squat.

At that point in the season, we should know type of team Whitewater has.
Non-conference games for EC/RF/Point will tell us what type of team's we should expect for the upcoming year.

One game I wish that I brought up was the La Crosse vs. South Dakota match up.
