Maybe you should schedule Crown College or Northwestern College (MN)?  :P  I heard that Northwestern could keep up with any WIAC school.

Now, how did I know you would wade in on this topic, Duffman?  LOL!  Hey, lots of credit to the Johnnies!  They scheduled two WIAC teams this pre-season.;) :D ;D

Face it, the WIAC is just too tough.  I heard that in 2007, the NCAA is just going to give the  Bronze and Walnut to the WIAC champ.  They'll save on travel expenses that way, too.

I don't think any of the talk about scheduling problems for the WIAC is directed toward the Johnnies.  I gave them credit for playing the WIAC....as long as those teams agree to go to Collegeville and play every year in front of 8,000plus screaming Johnnie fans...... ;D

UWEC and UWRF have been/are home-home series, so I don't know why there's all this talk of only playing at SJU.  The only games I can think of in recent years that haven't been home-home are Crown College in 2003 (that was just to fill in for Macalaster leaving the conference) and UW-Whitewater in 2002 (and I think that was originally a home-home, but there was a reason the contract was cancelled).

A agree that not a whole lot of other teams in the area want to play WIAC schools, but you're better off playing a team like Asuza that piss-pounding the bottom half of the MIAC, or even worse, the MWC teams.

The SJU/WW schedule was originally home and home. Brez and Gags are pretty good friends, and Gags said he got too tired traveling that far and Brez let him out of it. That's pretty much how I heard it went down.
If you can't ignore an insult, top it; if you can't top it, laugh it off; and if you can't laugh it off, it's probably deserved.

Duff,

I've heard a rumor and you seem to be in the know about SJU football so perhaps you could confirm or nix it.

Is it true that St Johns is dropping Eau Claire from it's schedule after this season?

Thanks for your reply.

Yup, I can't find the article that I read it in right now, but this year was the last year for SJU/UWEC.

That's what I get for not doing my own homework!!  My references were based on what happened with UWW/SJU.  I stand corrected!

So essentially what SJU has done, after this season, is replaced EC with RF.

EC dropped SJU.  RF was a decent pick-up--better than Northwestern College.  To fill the hole next year SJU has picked up Marietta College out of Ohio (where EC's Glaser came from).  I think they're going to be a creampuff, but it'll be nice to see a fresh team.

I don't think there's a whole lot of teams chomping at the bit to play SJU first game, either.

Devil Badger Gopher

Stout was paid off not to have a team finish their end of the home and home series and travel to Wisconsin due to the brutality of the game.  Pretty soon even teams like Oshkosh will have trouble finding teams to play in the area.  It seems, for some reason, the MWC thinks they can compete with the UW0 team.  It is great when a team can paly up to the higher competition and win the huge games a la La Crosse this year.

I am not speaking for the school but as a fan.  I think the trip to UWW last year was a long distance.  I think for Central at least they keep the distance down somewhat closer.  I know that Hope is on our schedule this year and next but that was more to do with Coach Schipper wanting the two schools that meant the most to him playing each other.  I think that with the MIAC schools being close they are a natural fit to play the IIAC.  Maybe I am all wet but I think distance and expense has something to do with it.  To play that far away has to hurt the gate of both schools.

Whitewater has gone all over the country playing games. Know maybe UWW has more money then Central. However flying to Eastern Oregon and then getting on a bus a week later to go to St. Johns had to cost a lot of Money.
Not to mention the trip to Texas this fall can't be cheap either.
If it's in the Midwest teams should consider playing each other
Iowa,Minnesota,Ohio, Wisconsin Michigan,Indiana
Know this is just my opnion. However I feel evry strongly about this especially seeing that UWW has traveled all voer the country to play non conference games for the last five to seven years. Maybe more I am not sure.

When did that happen?  In 2002, UWW went to Mount Union (in Ohio) and then to SJU, granted both fairly long trips.  In 2005, SJU played at UWW, then out at Linfield (Oregon).  NCAA takes care of plaa-off travel expenses, though.

As far as I know, that's the only two times the two have played each other.
