Just wow! Thanks for doing right by D-III, UWW!

I desperately need to get some sleep but thought I'd promote this conversation I had after the game with Jason Dannelly, the NAIA football guru. Good takes on where each team might end up if playing in the other's division plus him conceding bragging rights for the next year.

Very cool, Pat.  Nicely done.
What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!

Man, I sure hope the emotional high and comedown after that fantastic game doesn't cause UWW any focus issues in the next two weeks...

It shouldn't because it hasn't in the past. UWW had a few emotional wins last season while staying focused all the way through Salem. I'm sure the few extra days rest before next Saturday will help.

I thoroughly enjoyed the game last night. Those were two very good teams in very bad conditions slugging out incredible plays. It does, however, emphasize why I don't watch the elite DIII teams before December. The Warhawks are just at such a different level and the other 97% of the division needs to find a way to narrow that massive gap if they want to compete. The remaining 3% needs to find a way to narrow a smaller gap!

Congratulations again to the Warhawks. I truly enjoyed and appreciated watching your guys play strong, clutch football. Another amazing team...

I have to say it's kind of nice that UWW had its huge win on a Thursday. Now I can sit back and enjoy all the great games around D3 tomorrow with UWW's big win in the rear view mirror.

I'm also very grateful for all the support UWW has received from the D3 world yesterday. It felt great knowing (albeit just this one day) the entire D3 world was behind Whitewater. I'm even more glad that UWW was able to follow through with a win. It was fun sharing that with everyone.

What a great time to be a D3 football fan.  ;D

The tipped-pass TD was #2 on the SC Top 10 from last night.  They said "UWW is a constant winner, as in they constantly win the D3 National Championship."  Great plug for UWW.

Trivia Question I though of while watching tonight's UWW-Morningside game: When is the last time Whitewater lost to an Iowa-based school? I'm sure it's been a long time, but I'm not sure exactly how long.

1997 Simpson

I think it was the first round of the playoffs and we were leading late in the fourth quarter.  Simpson had the ball and on a broken play that had flowed to the left their QB spotted a receiver on the far right side of the field.  The pass was completed and the receiver scored.  For whatever reason that play has remained etched in my mind all these years.

New Tradition

Had a chance to watch the game last night while my Dad and I bottled our home brew.  Fun stuff!  Congrats to the Warhawks.  Thanks for doing D3 proud!

I still have the game going over in my head this morning.  Still really impressed with how the Warhawks methodically broke down the Morningside defense by wearing them down in the end.   Very proud of the Warhawks for keeping DIII on top.  Well done.

Big congratulations to the Warhawks you performed in the adverse situation very well and in typical UW-W fashion, nothing too flashy, just solid good ol' ground pounding full effort till you can't go one inch more and go do it again play. we really enjoyed watching the game against this opponent and ya'll came out on top, Well done

Big night last night. Warhawks win, thus DIII wins. Shoutout from broadcast team to Pat C.

I had trouble with one issue, which I think I resolved in my mind. Ratliffe had more than a few runs where the whistle was not blown because he was still fighting for, and getting significant yardage. Some reminded me of my Rugby days. But then, he seemed peeved because he was "treated rudely" by the defenders when they kept fighting him, maybe a little after the whistle. I resolved this by coming to the conclusion that the same mindset was at work in both instances. That mindset being not to give up, and the desire to will a victory. JUst an outstanding performance. Will be interesting if the Johnnies meet the Warhawks down the line, to see both he and Sura in action on the same field.

Thanks for going and staying late Pat- the three interviews are excellent and a great way to cap off the excitement. Your interview w Coach Bullis really showed his humility and honesty.

As 02 said- now I can relax and take in some great D3 games this weekend.
