Jordan Ratcliff (offense) and Lake Bachar (special teams) were named this week's WIAC players of the week.

I thought you didn't care.

Ret,
Don't take your time to explain it.

This one is on me BW. As much as i call people out on painting with a broad brush in speaking about UW-W fans, I painted with a broad brush in responding to Retagent's wiseacre's comment about UW-W not getting any player of the week awards when we didn't play. I said "If it isn't made of walnut and bronze or fit on your finger, we lose interest" or something like that.

So that's the deal with that BW. No worries.  But calling our senior running back Ratcliff is definitely concerning.  :o

Ok, now I remember when you said that.  It just didn't make any sense to me.  I've never made a big deal out of the players of the week award but I've never said I didn't care about it either.  I'll take them when they come but I'm not bothered if and when they don't.  I'll take a team W any day over an individual honor.

Exactly. We'll take the W.  I was doing some research on footballstatistics.com and discovered that, on average, on 50% of the college teams who play each weekend win their game.  I don't know if that statistic holds true on all levels, but clearly we need to enjoy each W because darn near HALF the teams that play lose each week!!

MasterJedi

My guess for this weekend is 35-17 UWW. Obviously UWP can win this but I just don't see them doing it. UWW has better defense then NCC and they should have beaten UWP. From watching UWP's offense and lines aren't as good as Morningside and the skill players and overall team size and speed is what gave them the edge and allowed them to score so well. I see UWP wearing down sooner.

Plus, I think this year in a way it's good to not have Behrendt and Kumerow. Kumerow was a beast and the offense flowed through him, sometimes even forced through him and when he went out Behrendt seemed unsure at times since he got so familiar with Kumerow to bail him out. The offense is being spread a lot more this year, which I think is great. Nelson doesn't have anyone like that (at least not yet) who he prefers to go to and you can tell the ball was spread around to the receivers a lot more which makes the offense more natural, even though you'd like another beast out there to catch those passes.

bleed and bw. Just a little good natured jest.

We all know what's important, and there is a rank order. The honors are deserved, and should be noted. It usually means that the team played well, which usually results in a victory.

I know this is totally off topic and in the wrong forum but I just want to say that Clayton Kershaw is the best left handed pitcher on planet Earth.

You may now return to your regularly scheduled programing.

Until the postseason that is, right?  ;) :)

And Jake Arrieta is the best right hander on earth. Pretty much unhittable since the all star break  ;D

Just wanted to say thanks for posting the La Crosse stuff ScreamingEagles. We appreciate your contributions keeping us informed about UW-L.  I appreciate your forthright opinions as well.

Could you replicate yourself in every WIAC community now so we could have weekly stuff on each team??  ;)

Thanks bleed - sometimes these articles get a little lost in the random squabbles and visitors from other boards that we have, but I just assume people still read them.  It would be fantastic if we could find some more participation from other conference schools, but that's a discussion (a lengthy one at that) we've all had before.

I had upper-deck box seats at Wrigley this past Sunday and saw Arrieta pitch for the first time in person. He threw a perfect game through six, left after seven having held a darned good Pirates team to no runs, one hit, no walks, and one hit batsman while striking out nine and jacking a homer to left-center for good measure. He had all four pitches working, and the Bucs couldn't come close to hitting any of them. That guy is sick.

Hoping for a similar outing on the 7th against the Bucks.

Just went over to the NAIA victory whatever.com. Man do they have a high opinion of themselves. I would suggest the get a strong dose of reality over there. I would put the top of D3 against them anytime.  Of course in hindsight it was all about Morningside being over ranked, overhyped, etc...  There comments about how no NAIA team should ever lose to a D3 was over the top.  Did I miss something over the last few years and the NAIA suddenly became some super association and they forgot to mail out the flyers to my zip code? Morningside was a really good football team that lost to an even better football team.  Now back to what really matters, the WIAC and Saturdays games
