Pat just said it the best on the NWC board: Regional rankings will give you a good indication on who makes the playoffs. But the Top 25 gives you an indication on who will win once the playoffs begin.

No better way to put it.

Well - kinda. There are two teams in the West that will make the playoffs and aren't even listed (the UMAC and SCIAC champs).

The RR's tell you how the at large hopefuls stack up - and the possible pecking order on 'seeds'/hosting.

Right you are...The regional rankings are a good indication on which at large teams make the playoffs.

For some reason I'm fealing a first round game against St. John's...if UWW stays in the West. If UWW is moved to the North, I'm hoping Mount is moved to the East, with Wesley being the #1 in the South.

One game at a time 02, one game at a time. River Falls should be your only "fealing" right now.  ;) Do we need to remind you when we over looked these guys last year?

Bartholomew: UW-L should relish spoiler role

http://lacrossetribune.com/sports/bartholomew-uw-l-should-relish-spoiler-role/article_161485e1-6f57-5cae-9993-94e5c3c71e83.html

QuoteThe Eagles football program has been through a tough stretch of years. If UW-L is unable to pull off the upset Saturday, it will secure its sixth consecutive losing season since going 5-5 in 2009. The current crop of seniors — just 10 players — has amassed a record of 16-25 and hasn't been in contention for WIAC titles or the playoffs.

UW-L — be it because of injury or poor recruiting or competition level or whichever of the many reasons a college football team struggles you'd like to pick — has not had many positive memories in past few seasons.

Then it's a good thing what's said on these boards doesn't affect the outcome of a game.   ;)

If the players and coaches talked about this, then we have reason for concern....but I think they'll be ready.

If UWW is fortunate enough to make the playoffs, for the entertainment value of D3 and my own preference, I'd like to see the Hawks in the same region as Mt.

I don't think this is a fantasyland thing.  This could definitely happen.

I wouldn't mind this either. Good opportunity to do it in a year in which UWW is perhaps not a national title contender.

That's a good sign for the Dub 02.
Pat's wording is right on. A chink in the ol armor has been exposed.
This could be a great opportunity for UWW to get back on the road and take on the goliaths at their places of comfort. UWW hasn't played a playoff game in Alliance or St. Thomas yet, I'd love to see those stadiums.

Can we arrange that for the semifinals?  I'm busy the first few weeks of the playoffs but have been aching to check out a playoff game in Alliance, and semifinals weekend is probably going to be my best chance to do it...if it was UWW-Mount in the semis that would be an awfully attractive one...
I was small but made up for it by being slow...

I'm still in favor of having the playoff field step up and prevent UWW/UMU from meeting in Salem...rather than the committee doing it.

One way to think about it, and I'm not sure it will happen, but UWO already has. The committee didn't lose the game this year.
