Playing for the chance to advance to the Stagg Bowl AND simotaneously end UMU's consecutive appearance streak.  Competive athletes live for this opportunity.  We should be thanking the committe.  Bring it on!

GO WARHAWKS

And this is EXACTLY why we wanted to go to this one. Win or lose, will be a fantastic experience. And, MUCH closer than the Stagg Bowl. No vacation left to miss work....

Booked our hotel in Alliance, $60 bucks a night! Bought game tickets online, it says the covered stands are sold out?? isn't that the visitor stands? I thought I read that somewhere.

Looking forward to meeting up with fellow Warhawk fans there Saturday morning..

Just not sure why there is any issue with how the brackets came out.  Why does there have to be a conspiracy to make them play each other before the Stagg?  Maybe this is how it just happened.  I give the committee more credit than that.  If they were going to put them on the same side there are other years they could have moved the 1's around to have them on the same side of the bracket.  Just enjoy the game.  In the end only one of them can win the Stagg anyway.

I doubt any UW-W fan has any issue with how the brackets came out. I think most people (as revealed in the front page poll), simply want the committee to do the bracket straight up, without regard to UW-W/Mount. Most believe they did that. Although Keith makes a good point about flipping the Johnnies and Warhawks to avoid two early round rematches. But then again, that needn't necessarily be a criteria either after the first round.

If Mount was the top one seed, they got the unfortunate draw here based on the records cited above.  For UW-W, the path is greater than we could have ever asked for given we had a loss.  A home game, a game two hours away, and three very sweet opportunities:
1. Eliminate the team we lost to on their own field.
2. Eliminate Mount on their own field.
3. Win a third consecutive National Championship.

It feels like...Candyland.  ;D

If there are any fans going to the game that will be returning Saturday and driving anywhere near Milwaukee's Mitchell International Airport, please PM me!  Thanks!

Again--we Mount fans would like to invite any UWW fans that are in town on Friday evening to join us for some friendly banter and bragging (on both sides, I am sure) starting at around 7:00 at Rey's 62--they have great wings and lots of cold beverages.  It is located at 2109 W. State St. (Route 62), Alliance, OH 44601.

Hope to see some of you there!  Safe travels.
Reloading--Again, and again, and again....

For Mount to win:
UWW unable to pressure Scott, allowing him to set his feet and make an accurate throw. UWW defenders continue to over pursue in the direction of the play enabling Scott/Nemeth huge cut back lanes. This is was a big problem in the UWO game. Get to Nelson early to rattle his confidence, forcing him not to get through his reads. He tends to get tunnel vision at times, locking onto on the "safe" play rather than identifying someone open on the other side of the field. Force Ratliffe to the outside where Mount's speed on defense can run him out of bounds before turning the corner.

For UWW to win:
Push from the defensive line, stopping the run (forcing Mount to be one dimensional) and getting in Scott's face. UWW's defense limiting yards after contact, preventing Scott and Nemeth from getting to the second level. Again, this seemed to be an issue in the UWO game for UWW. The linebackers leading the team in tackles...not he secondary. Ratliffe getting to the second level, which will open up potential big pass plays field for Nelson/Hudson. Bachar getting his leg into his punts (which is he's capable of, but can be inconsistent at times), putting field position in UWW's favor.

The o-lines will be the factor in this game.  Which line can control the defense and make room for the running game.  UWW line was impressive against UWO but our offense will have to finish the drill, especially if the defense gets a turnover and leaves them with the short field.  Just like it has been said by Emma, the linebackers have to stay disciplined with tackling skills and not let the runner bounce off.
There aren't going to be a lot of secrets here.  Both teams know what the other is going to try and do.  The winner will be the one that punches the hardest.  I don't expect to see a lot of finesse, just a lot of smash mouth football.

I'll add one more item to this list for now.
The last time Mt beat UWW they jumped out to a 2 TD lead on consecutive bombs to Cecil Shorts III in the first quarter.
Namdar (and other receivers) cannot be allowed to get behind the secondary.

The Covered Stands (West Side) are the Home Team Stands.  Open Stands (East Side) are the Visiting Team Stands.

Lots of great quarterbacks in the West. Just simply not enough spots.

Congrats all WIAC players for selection to the All-West teams.

I'm very thankful UWW has 5 juniors that were selected to either the first, second or third team.

After watching Kasper over the weekend, I would agree with the QB's who made the All West Region teams over him.

And for the second straight season, all the current starters will be back next year on the o-line.
