Yeah, it's one of those where you wonder about buyers remorse. I wonder how USF feels about this. My guess is they are quite happy to be D2. But I know there were a lot of alums who just assumed after all their dominance of the NAIA, and beating a few d2 teams in non-con, that the transition would be seamless and they'd find themselves competing for national titles.

Since they've moved, they haven't even been winning conference titles. Granted, they play in the NSIC. I think part of their struggle was tighter academic and eligibility regulation. They always had several skill players who were at their 3rd or 4th college and had started out at Florida or someplace like that. They can't get those guys in any more.

It says a lot about the cultures and leadership in the athletic dept in general and football programs in particular at PLU and Linfield that they made their own transitions as smoothly as they did. It's also a lot easier to have continued success when you move laterally. Still, kudos!

Wouldn't be surprised if this were flipped. Had a dream last night that mount out-gained us by 250-140 yards by halftime but only were leading 7-0. Go UWW!  :P

Okay - so we are pretty far off topic here with Findlay. But can I tell one quick story? I was accused of being too PC on my 'home' board...this story is on the other end of that.

In '95 PLU and flew out to Findlay for a first round NAIA playoff game. There was a black custodian in the airport watching the Lutes walk through after landing. He made eye contact with one of our D linemen.
"You here to play Findlay?" he asks.
"Yeah, we are."
"You the only brother on the team?"
"Um - yeah actually I am."
"Ya'll are gonna lose."

He was right. But it was something like 21-14 and Findlay went on to the title game (tying with Jon Kitna-led Central Washington). Pretty funny interaction. It was light-hearted and all, but I'm not sure he was kidding...
