Watching Making a Murder on Netflix. Anybody on here follow the Avery case when it was happening back in in 06-07?

Just remember, the film makers appear to have a point of view, and they conveniently omit items that don't fit their agenda. There is no doubt Avery killed her. Bottom line.

I only know about the story from what I've read but I'm not informed enough to give opinion.
I'm curious Ret and don't mean this sarcastically, what agenda would the film makers have?  An agenda to drive ratings?

I admit I sometimes lack much sympathy for people like Avery because they are often criminals - but of lesser or different crimes. Of course that doesn't warrant wrongful conviction.

Check out the evidence and see what conclusion you come to. Remember, ALWAYS, prosecutors are sworn to finding the truth. Defense attorneys are charged with providing a defense. There is no need for them to deal in truth.

It would hardly be newsworthy if the film wasn't controversial.

I 100% agreed that the filmmakers have a point a view and are the ones who edit the series together but it has been a fascinating watch. We went through all 10 episodes over the weekend.

Pretty bold statements. I understand your point...but in my experience, reality is not nearly that simple.

Not having seen this show- are you saying the producers are intentionally ignoring the incriminating evidence in order to manufacture controversy and drive ratings?

I binged this series as well over the holiday break.  I can't say for sure whether I agree with the verdict because, as I understand, the show left out some of the prosecution's best evidence while spotlighting most of the prosecution's flimsier evidence.  I did think that the series was a pretty incredible feat of documentary filmmaking (telling 10 hours of that story as clearly and compellingly as they did without any narration? Bravo.) and I think it is jam packed with a lot of fascinating and difficult social issues to think about.

I don't think I can say I enjoyed it- I don't know how anybody can enjoy that story- but I'm glad I watched it and would recommend it to anybody on the fence about watching it.
