Don't you think it obvious that Zembrowski places a fairly high value on being a head coach considering he's applied for job that he knows in advance won't be able to pay him any thing close to what he's been earning the past several years as a D1 assistant?   He's been around the WIAC and he knows the wage scale in the league.  I question if they would even have applied if they were "unlikely" to accept the wage if hired.

I would love to see Z back in the league.  This dude can coach and if EC hires him I pretty confident that he can turn that program around.  There's no reason EC can field a competitive football team, no reason whatsoever imo.

I think he does probably know the salary - his application doesn't actually mean he wants the job.  UWL saw this in 2011 with Vince Kehres and the D1 assistant that was a finalist, Jake Moreland.  I went to the campus open forums and it seemed pretty clear to me that Kehres was there for interview experience and that Moreland had little interest or knowledge of coaching D3 football, but he was out of a job so he applied.

Football Scoop reported that Dale Lennon is the choice so it looks like I was wrong about him taking the job.

Do you have a guess as to whether we will see UWW's Offensive or Defensive Coordinator's names in the UWL mix?

I have no idea.  Would love to see either of them as candidates, but I'm not sure we can pay them any more than they make at UWW.

I'll take a guess and say we will see at least one of their names.
I get the salary thing, but perhaps we are over estimating its impact. I'm only speaking from my perspective - if coaching was my thing and being a head coach was a goal- I'd pass on $10,000-$30,000 a year (just guessing here) salary difference and I'd chase my dream. If I thought I was the right guy to lead UWL back to prominence- and if I believed I'd have the administration's support- I'd go for the job in a heart beat.

Surprised with this as well. Lennon has been around the college coaching game for 30 years, the last 19 as a head coach. However, other than the last 6 years at SIU, he's been very successful at all his stops including winning a NC at North Dakata in 2001. His team this year was 3-8, but lost a lot of close games, including a one score game to ND State & by 1 at Indiana (48-47) of the BIG. If that $220G salary is correct, he won't be in EC for the money. But as a North Dakota native, taking the job at EC will be a lot closer to his home area - one possible benefit to him/family, plus continued coaching in a very talented, high quality league.

Eau Claire's hire, officially: http://www.d3football.com/notables/2016/01/eau-claire-brings-in-d2-assistant

So, what are you hearing, was Lennon the first choice, as reported by footballscoop? They always seem to be pretty accurate on these matters. Or were they just full of baloney on this one and had the wrong guy with an 'L' as a last name initial?

Dan Haggerty was always one of my Hollywood favorites...born & raised in Pound (Marinette County) Wisconsin (due north of Green Bay) until he moved to Cali after High School. Last saw him on American Pickers California Kustom episode a couple, 3 years ago...sold the guys a cool medieval-looking door, hand-carved, drift wood table and a picture of Dan on his motorcycle, if I remember right.  What a sad week it's been.

I remember the American Pickers episode.  My recollection of what he sold them matches yours BoBo.  He was a pretty cool dude.  I used to like that show too.
