Any word on conference recruiting classes? Who's looking to return the most from last year?

Most WIAC schools don't publicly announce their recruits, but I remember a post by screaming eagle a short time ago that linked a story from the LaX Tribune listing many of UWL's higher profile recruits.  I think you'll have to wait for rosters to be posted or at least the opening of camps for the individual schools to announce anything on their web pages. I know the WIAC homepage will list returning starters when they post the results of the coaches/SID predicted finish for this season. That should be in a few days if it hasn't been already posted. There are other ways to find out these numbers as well if you want to pay for it.

Ask and you shall receive:

In a poll that will surprise almost no one (maybe a few Titan fans) the WARHAWKS are the favorite.

State finally approves UW-WHITEWATER football and baseball projects.

http://www.gazettextra.com/20160810/state_approves_uw_whitewater_athletics_project

In one of the local press releases on UWW's football & baseball building projects it said they were being funded from athletic program revenue, program cash balances and gifts. Which includes gate receipts.  WW has led the WIAC in football attendance for years.  In these days of budget cuts other schools need to develop ways to put more people in the stands.

UW-L kicks off training camp

QuoteSchmidt said the job is wide open, with a handful of players getting a chance to prove themselves worthy of the position. Returners from last season include juniors John Tackett and Andrew Thompson, along with sophomore Drew David. Two talented transfers, Tarek Yaeggi and Ben Schramski, are also contending for the role.

Yaeggi, the 2013 Gatorade Player of the Year for Wisconsin, comes to UW-L after two years and Bakersfield, a California junior college, and a spring semester at Division I Buffalo. Schramski's a Lake City, Minn., native who attended Division II Concordia-St. Paul out of high school. He started five games as a freshman at C-SP, going 4-1, and then started six games last year as the Golden Bears struggled to a 1-10 record.

Two talented transfers in at quarterback means that UWL will be choosing from 5 for the 2016 season.  Seems like more talent than we've had in the past, my fear is that none stand out and we end up playing 3 or 4 of them to find the right fit.  Hopefully one emerges in camp and takes the job outright.

This isn't football related but I've always found it interesting and wanted to share it.

Clark ready to display his versatility for Eagles

It's cool how the La Crosse Tribune is just about the biggest cheerleader for the La Crosse football team.

Just wondering, SE, do you write for the Trib? There seems to be a bigger, stronger connection than simply newspaper and devoted reader.

The Trib does a good job of following the Eagles. Give SE credit for sharing the stories with the board, and the newspaper for covering D3 football. Keep it up, SE.

I do give him credit for sharing the stories, just wondered if he was connected to the paper - what's wrong with that?

I have no connection to the Tribune - read it online most days but that's about it.

Mostly looking to recognize the consistent coverage they give the program, while hoping to stimulate some conversation on this board.  Would love to see and read articles from other local newspapers regarding WIAC teams, but I don't have the time to search through those sources - and I'm assuming most others don't take the time to seek out Tribune articles on the Eagles.

If nothing else I'm trying to keep a UWL presence amongst all of the Warhawk posters here  ;D

When I was younger I drank Pepsi in bottles but I was always to lazy to take the bottles back so I stored them in an extra room in the house we rented.  It drove my then girlfriend, now spouse, crazy and she always was bugging me to return the stupid things.  But I got the last laugh when the deposit went from .05 to .10 and I returned god only knows how many and made a nifty profit.

Material gain for a Whitewater grad, I am sure !

If your looking for coverage of other schools I don't think Whitewater has a daily newspaper but the Daily Jefferson County Union up the road in Ft. Atkinson does a good job of covering UW-WW.  Here is a recent article on the preseason picks for the WIAC,

Also the Dubuque Telegraph Herald covers Platteville but I think you have to subscribe to get things online.
