Looks like UWW is waiting till the last second to post their roster...like usual.

Also, I'm looking for a few good men (or women) for the West Fan Poll if anyone is interested. I have a few holes to fill this year.

I never have really understood why the do wait so long.  it would be nice to have a couple of days to look at it before the game.

UWL does the same thing, waiting until the last minute.  I always assumed it was so they could keep as many people in camp as long as possible, but I'm not sure of the exact rules on roster cutdowns.

It's probably related to the reason why they never publicly announce their incoming Freshman and transfer recruits like everybody else seems to do late in the spring or early summer...especially the privates. Poachers are everywhere.

Tarek Yaeggi has been named the starting quarterback for the UW-La Crosse football team....

Yaeggi was an All-State QB at Watertown, spent time at a JUCO in California and had planned on walking on at Buffalo before deciding on UWL.

Some more info on the decision:

Tarek Yaeggi named UW-L's starting QB

Hopefully this settles the QB position for the Eagles over the next two years.

Just posted my Strength of Schedule (overall and non-conference) numbers for 2016. I talk a bit about the WIAC, because, well, ya know, they play pretty tough schedules.

QuoteThe WIAC team with the "weakest" strength of schedule this season is UW-Whitewater, at #8. But wait you say! Whitewater actually plays Morningside--a national title-contender in the NAIA--in their non-conference schedule, and NAIA games aren't counted in my model! Yes, I know this. The Warhawks may actually have the toughest schedule in the country.

New Hawk and desert cat check the picem board. You have not picked the Coe / River Falls game.

Thanks Fred.  I noticed your post in the pickem topic and sent private messages to both of them.

Just so everyone knows I won't routinely check everyone's picks to insure they've picked all of the games.  Fred noticed it this time so I let the two of them know but don't rely on me to do that.  Double check your picks after posting them.

How would you describe Oshkosh, playing both Findlandia and Morthland...I say again Morthland (had to look them up)? Of the NCCAA (had to look that up, too). The Titans must have the easiest schedule by a long shot of any team in the country, any division. What a joke!! How embarrassing.

My model is a closed loop of DIII teams, which means the Morthland game is null (which helps, because they might be worse than Finlandia), so their non-conference schedule is John Carroll and Finlandia--a top 20 and bottom 20 team--who average together for a non-conference SoS of 0.507. Typically, startup programs see large improvement from year 1 to year 2, so the model doesn't think Finlandia will be as terrible as last season, but they also only returned about a dozen starters from last season, which is utterly baffling to me. When you add in UW-O's conference games (with teams like UWW, UWP, UWSP, and all the other UW's...), they have the 7th hardest schedule in the country.

UWO Titan 78

The Titans play the #18 team in the country in a non-conference game. The game against JCU will be a very good test. Yes, the other two non-conference games will not be competitive, but the alternative was only playing 9 games (the Morthland game was added late to fill the schedule). These games will allow back-ups to play a half of football, which will be helpful for the future. The Titans have games scheduled against teams ranked #3, #12, and #18. I'm sure there are a lot of teams out there that won't play 3 teams in the top 20.

I'm heading up to Oshkosh for the John Carroll game Saturday! Does any UW-O person (or someone who has been to a game there) know anything about tailgating policies? Where is the best place to park usually?
Thanks in advance!  ;D ;D
