In Oshkosh, I would often get some ribbing for my Bears gear (there were plenty of FIB references) but, rarely, would I get any ribbing for my Cubs gear. They were always the lovable losers. If they turn into the consistent contender that they should, I imagine there will be a lot more disdain for us Cubs fans in Wisconsin. I will say that the Packers success (and the lack of Bears success) has led to there being more Packers fans down here. Several kids I coach on my son's team are Packer fans, who have Bears fans as parents.

I guess it's not as bad outside the Milwaukee area. I once wore a Chicago Cubs sweater to a work holiday party. You would think I was wearing [input something bad here] on my chest. People were booing me as I walked by them. It's unreal.

Very sad world series. Cubs now have something to be arrogant about and they were insufferable before. Sadly the great evil was allowed to win.  :'(

Living in Milwaukee for the past 9 years (as a Chicago sports fan), Brewers fans can be very "insufferable" themselves. It works both ways. It's to the point where I don't tell people I'm a Cubs fan. It's not worth the comments, the looks and attitude I always get.

My boss even admitted to me that if he knew I was a Cubs fan, he probably wouldn't have hired me. And I think he's only 70% joking. It's also to the point where my daughter stopped wearing Cubs stuff to school, because of the comments she gets or being made fun of became too much for a 7 year old.

I went to a Brewers/Marlins game about 8 years ago. When I was leaving the game, going back to my car, about 100 people in front of me started randomly chanting "F*** the Cubbies, F*** the Cubbies.......". This was a Marlins game....the CUBS WEREN'T EVEN IN TOWN!!!!!!!  Bitter...party of one....your table is ready.

Sorry, that's my brewers fans rant for the morning. Now back to football ;D
Couldn't agree with you more....  I actually had a tweet come across my feed before the game Wednesday that stated something to the effect of ""Is it ok to want the Cubs to NOT win a World Series more than it is to want the Brewers TO win a World Series?"

Not sure it gets much more bitter than that, when you would get more pleasure in one team NOT winning a World Series instead of having the team you follow and cheer for win the first World Series in the history of the franchise!!!

Almost every friend I have who is a White Sox fan was rooting against the Cubs. I don't root against the White Sox or Brewers. They aren't my rivals. I even consider Miller Park, Wrigley North. Anytime I've been there for a Cubs/Brewers game it seems like there are more Cubs fans. I do root against the Cardinals, though.

And that there is the essence of Brewers fans hating the Cubs.

EXACTLY!!!

And to that point I have a friend who made the mistake of letting me know how much it gets under his skin to hear Miller Park referred to as Wrigley North....  As he was spouting off about the Indians 3-1 lead, I just kept my mouth shut, however I made sure to text him yesterday and ask him if he wanted to go to a game at Wrigley North next year and try and catch a glimpse of the Cubs 2016 World Series rings.  :D  I'm still waiting for a reply!!  ;D

Substitute "Red Sox" for "Cubs" and you have described the exact attitude of many East Coast AL fans.

How cool was it to see Bryant smiling while fielding the last out of the game.
He was giddy w joy. How anyone could honestly have disdain for this particular Cubs' team is beyond me. It's like hating on the Cub Scouts.

KitchenSink

Most Brewer fans i know are MUCH more Cardinals haters than Cubs haters.

So the way I see it, a Cubs series victory is pretty salty for Cardinals fans. I kinda like that, I can deal with it.
What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!

And KitchenSink finds the common ground where there is little. The Cardinals are the Vikings of baseball (well, except for the winning championships part). Mutually disliked.

Living out the ultimate conflict of being a Cubs fan AND a Packers fan has it's advantages. I see both sides of this. I love the cheering of Cubs fans DURING the games at Miller Park. After the game, it seems like the jerk-o-meter needle shoots up within the fan base of whichever team won. I've seen both sides out of hand. When Cub fans become jerks, I just see them as Bear fans.  The only saving grace is that when I leave Miller Park and someone yells "Chicago sucks" at me, I can confuse them when I yell back "It sure does".

I agree with Emma though. I don't know how anyone could watch this series and truly hate the Cubs TEAM. Actually, I feel the same way about the Indians. Even when they tied the game in the 8th and tried to shatter one of my lifelong dreams, I couldn't dislike those guys.

Well...isn't that convenient of you.

;D

I agree about the Indians, I couldn't dislike them (of course that's easy for me to say given the Cubs won). I read that Lindor was shaking hands to Progressive field employees after the game, thanking them for what they did this season. Along with giving hugs to Cubs' players' moms (Baez's mom in particular) outside the clubhouse. What a class move that was. I have a ton of respect for him...great young ballplayer too.

Yes he is, only a matter of time before the Cubs sign him given he is in a small market and all.  Oh that's right, I don't like Chicago  ;D.

I have come to LOVE the high school football programs in the Chicagoland area though! I told you I was conflicted!

I hadn't heard that.  Love to see that he was taking it for what it was, a game.  I'm sure he was heartbroken to lose, but to get to play a game for money, and be good at it too.  That's amazing.

Oshkosh on the road is a tough one. I have to predict a 31-13 win for the home team, but will hope for the upset.
