Looking at the two-deeps for Saturday, it says that JC plays a 3-4, and their two ILB's are 190 and 195 (DL is 245-230-240).  One would think that a big offensive line could make some inside running work, but it certainly can't be that simple, can it?  JC has been stopping teams all year....

In the Wesley game, the box score says W rushed 45 times, 82 yards.  But included in those numbers was 9 sacks for 48 yards, so true rushing total was 36 for 130.  That looks like marginal success, nowhere near enough to overcome the lack of ability to complete passes (13-30, 88 yards).

My thought - Pound the Rock.

#38 Mason McKendrick is a stud ILB for JCU.  UWW Game notes have him listed at 6' 1" 195, but JCU Roster on their website has him listed as 6' 4" 220 (which is probably more accurate after seeing him play live vs UMU).  He is quick (probably a 4.6 guy) for his size and they move him around.  Good in coverage as well.

He probably isn't either. As I have said to students for years - the truth often lies somewhere in the middle. In that case its probably 6'2.5 and 210. Adjusted to 6'4 with cleats and 220 with the equipment - granted when I played the weight would adjust to 230.  ;D

I'm right here!

I never really "wondered." I was just putting forward the idea that it is difficult to compare when there is so little data available for the comparison. I remember about 11 years ago when some people were using past performance as a metric upon which to judge present strength. The WIAC posters (UWW fans specifically) pooh poohed that idea, saying that what you did in the past has little or no relevance to the present.

There was never any doubt in my mind that the WIAC is a strong conference in relation to all others in D III. And because of their inherent advantages, will probably always be so. But when comparing year to year, there are, in all likelihood, some variances in that relative strength. I saw the UWW/Morningside game, and while seeing that UWW was capable of defeating a team believed to be quite good, they didn't seem to have the precision I saw in recent years (I know it was the second game of the season), so I was withholding my assessment of just how good they were. Even in later games, they've struggled against historically weaker foes, and even the UWW posters were concerned.

The game I saw last week was the first time that I was impressed by all facets of their game. They still have a couple hurdles, but I would not be surprised to see them in Salem. Of course I would not be surprised if STU, UWO, UMHB, or UMU makes it either.

Good man.  I've wondered if the conference was down, I've also wondered if D3 in general isn't down this year.
I'm starting to believe that D3 is down in terms of superstar type skilled position players (linemen must hate that term), but maybe not down in line play.
Thinking of the WIAC, I don't see the real stand-out skilled position players we normally see.  However, the play at the line of scrimmage seems elevated.
I imagine this may be true of the MIAC and the OAC.

Sakman 1111

Think you are correct....have not seen any Coppages,Beavers, or Garcons at the skill positions and I have watched quite a few games on the computer....not sure about the line play but sounds good....hope to be there this weekend... Pound the Rock....

I always thought the winter elements played into the hand of UWW's style of play. I like a good blizzard (or at least white-out conditions) during the playoffs.

But that's just me.

Oh, I agree 100%. But it doesn't play into my hands as far as watching it.  ;D

My recommendation is to call the appropriate person at JCU and urge them to lock in a home and home with UW-W when you are done with Oshkosh.  If you can get a September game after school has started, we'd have a chance for a great crowd with a great atmosphere. Saturday, we could be under 3,000.  Just too much to do in Wisconsin on a Saturday in December I guess.  :o  But don't get me wrong, those that show will have fun and should still help provide a good atmosphere!

Why, does the booth drop below 70 degrees for you and Badgerwarhawk when it gets below freezing outside?

I kid  :P  ;)

I'm on the sidelines, brother. I'm staying with my guys. Rain, shine, or freeze. BW has too much responsibility up in the booth. And I agree, his booth should be kept perfect! We don't want his fingers freezing at the wrong time!

Sounds promising...looks like a good matchup for the Hawks' defense. I'm glad I don't have to worry about an athletic/mobile QB tucking and running the ball. I hate when UWW plays against those style of quarterbacks. They seem to give us fits in the first half....that is before they either get hurt or forced to pass because they're behind in the 2nd half.

Good stuff, bleed!

I'll be honest though, being from Naperville, I am hoping we can schedule one with North Central.
