We saw a back very much like him in Marquis Barole from TLU for three years.

OK, Emma.
Payne was not the back Mitchell was statistically.
He does/did have lateral quickness.
Even so, he did not do what Mitchell did.
My point was MHB had seen the hurry up with a  quick back - who they limited.
Being 3rd all- time rusher at Mount and LINFIELD seems significant.

I've no doubt Payne was excellent.  I wasn't trying to suggest that UMHB hadn't ever faced a quick back or a no-huddle offense.
I believe I saw the UMHB d-line a bit winded at times.  31 caries by a jitterbug like Mitchell probably helped.

I am thinking about opening a Chutes and Ladders store in Oshkosh, in an effort to compete with Candyland.  It will remind folks how the incapable can be more successful of meeting their intended and desired destination.

Any investors out there?  I can send you the placement memorandum when available.  :D

Congrats to Platteville's WR Dan Arnold and WW's DL Brandon Temsett on making the American Football Coaches Association's First Team All American Team.  WW's OL Tony Koepnick, Oshkosh LB Reese Dzredzic and Stout's Kicker Drew Pearson all made the 2nd team.  Link to the AFCA:

Also former SP and current Badger OL Ryan Ramczyk made the First Team AP All American team.

I enjoyed Josh Smith's article on UWO.
For whatever reason I used to think of Coach C as more of a control everything type of guy.  It's impressive how much freedom he gives his players and coaches.

Thinking about the match up, one obvious aspect for UWO to prepare for is UMHB's team speed.  I wonder if UWO's games vs. Mt in 10 and 11 as well as their games against Robert Morris in 14 and 15 will be useful. Four games the coaches had to prepare the players for, two of which most the roster played in.

Interesting matchup of personnel strengths.   From seeing MHB against Mount, they were pretty average along the O-line, but had tremendous speed on the edges.  Whereas what I saw of UWO against JCU was very typical for a WIAC team, big and strong.

Granted I'm not an expert on either of the teams, but to me the question will be the same as every year Mount played UWW:  will Mount be good enough at the line of scrimmage to allow their skilled speed to make the difference .   I feel the same way about UWO/MHB.

No idea who should be favored on Friday, but I was really disappointed in MHB against Mount.   Especially their offensive line and QB play.  Mount hadn't been able to stop anybody this season and MHB was a crazy close to only scoring a single TD.   That was very surprising.   All season we'd heard about how great of a passer their QB was, but last Saturday he looked like every other MHB QB that I've seen:  great athlete playing QB, not a great athletic QB.  Maybe it was just a bad game or Mount played way over their heads, but I wasn't impressed.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

That was the first time I've really seen Jackson play.  I was really impressed with his fluid running ability, he is a stud athlete.  I'm ready for a new innovation in tv coverage that allows us to see a split screen of the receivers downfield.  His % was fine, but they didn't get much w longer passes (caught by intended receiver).  Mt must have been really disciplined at keeping everything in front- I thought Mt did a really good job with sure tackling.
I sort of think that's where the game will come down for UWO.  Will they be able to open field tackle and stop the long ball?
Obviously UWO is comfortable in a low, low scoring game.

I feel like he has a tendency to "make plays" when they aren't necessarily there to be made.  He's a great athlete and QB and I think his athleticism gets him in trouble sometimes.

The question is:  If UWO forces a low scoring game, does he make any mistakes on plays where he should've thrown the ball out of bounds or taken a sack?

Did anyone see the news story about the backup QB at Lakeland was found dead in a frozen pond? Not good.
What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!

Corned Beef & Company- downtown Roanoke.  They have three bars- one is a billiards room w a shuffle board game (the one with the pucks you slide by hand).  Our group really loved that place as part of the pre-game.
Man I miss going to the Stagg Bowl.

With you Emma, not making it again this year and not happy about it.  The group I hung out with has not made it for a few years now and although I have gone by myself and the people are great to hang with even if you dont know anyone, it is more fun being with friends.

It was tough to watch as a Linfield fan because Jackson put the ball on the money on multiple long balls where only his guy could make the play against the 'Cats. We seemed to bring out the best in him.   :-\
