I hope you enjoyed your trip to Virginia. Game could have had a different outcome but the best team won. Hated to see the QB for UWP get hurt and wish him a speedy and full recovery. Good luck as you guys prepare for the tough WIAC schedule.

I attended the Platteville vs Hampden Sydney game.  Truly could have been a different outcome if HS hadn't have turned the ball over so many times in their own territory.  I hope the Platteville starting QB is okay.  Appeared to be a leg injury.  He was able to stand on crutches.  Here are some highlights from HS website.

The HS QB had some impressive throws.

Oh man. Just saw a bad story come out about hazing at Wheaton.
This is going to be ugly.
Every school and program needs to really take this issue seriously in education and enforcement.

P-ville beats Lakeland 56-22 at Platteville.  They started playing a ball control game and jumped out to a 21 point lead. Lakeland tried to make it a game in the 2nd quarter and got it as close as 28-14. 35-14 at halftime.  Platteville dominated in the 2nd half. QB Tyler Blang who going into the season was the 3rd string  QB managed the game well but we will see how he does against the WIAC.

The Palmer (Alaska) Moose, won 35-8 today over the Kenai Kardinals. With the win, long time head coach, Rod Christiansen became the all time winningest coach in Alaska high school football with 151 wins. Rod played his freshman and sophomore seasons ('78-'79) for Linfield before transferring to Wisconsin-Platteville where he played his junior and senior seasons ('81-'82).

D O.C.

Fake news.
There can't possibly be a coach in Alaska named Moose.

Finally, the conference season has arrived. It sure seems this season has the makings of upsets and nail-biters.
Other than 2014, UWO v UWW has come down to the wire since 2011 I believe. It wouldn't surprise me if the winner does not claim the conference title.
Is UWS the favorite over UWP?
For some reason I've been positive about UWL, this game v UWSP should be proof either way.

I'm pumped for this UWO-UWW game.  I thought UWW had no chance until last week.  With JCU getting smoked by Heidelberg, UWO's "big" win on the year ins't looking so impressive any longer.  This game looks pivotal for UWW; lose and it might be the end of an era, win and it looks like UWW could be back in the playoff picture and in the conference title hunt.  D3FB is the best

Welcome merlecanlas, very glad to have a new poster.
UWW posters to this site seems to be at the end of an era already, hopefully the game will reinvigorate the board.

UWO Titan 78

This week's game between UWO and UWW is a toss-up. Don't anybody let the Warhawks' record fool you. They have outplayed their opponents in both of their losses, and if not for losing the turnover battle they would enter the game at 3-0. The John Carroll win is still impressive for the Titans. They went on the road and beat a ranked team that wanted revenge. This game will be close, in my opinion. Both teams want to run the ball, and it will come down to protecting the football. Both of these teams know each other very well, so I don't expect any surprises. The Titans will play things close to the vest and this will be a four-quarter affair. We won't get a crowd like the one in Minneapolis last week, but I hope a large crowd turns out to see this one. Hail Titans!

isn't the turnover battle paramount for any football team?

Nah.  They beat an overrated team, whose lone victory was a 3 point win over BW.  Not impressive.

Whoever gets to 17 points wins the UWO-UWW game.

If I remember correctly, UWW is down 0 to 24 in points from turnovers.
Protecting the ball is a coaching and player issue and UWW's opponents performed better.
Turnovers aren't the only issue though. UWW is converting only 38% on third down. This is a pattern that began when the new offense arrived.
Prior to the fourth quarter against Wash U, UWW couldn't run the ball for average.

Unless the O somehow gains tremendous confidence and execution from their fourth quarter performance, their D must play lights out.
A part of me feels UWO would be making a mistake if they played it close to the vest. UWO might be better off being aggressive offensively and putting scoring pressure on UWW.

merlecanlas

I agree.  If UWO puts up 21, its over.  Put the pressure on UWW's offense to keep up

Just checked out the Game Notes and two-deep for the UWW at UWO game.
I have no idea how accurate these reports are.
The UWW two-deep shows:
-Nate Trewyn back at Center with Jordan Mueller at LT. Jordan has been out and Nate was moved into his spot for the first three games. UWW has had a serious accuracy problem with shotgun snaps to this point.
-UWW is big across the O-line, four of the five are listed at 300 or better. UWO isn't nearly as big on the O-Line.
-UWW starting RB shown as Alex Peete (freshman), backed up by Josh Ringelberg. If this is accurate, imo this is humongous news.

Some great match ups to start the WIAC. The Osh WW game is getting the most  attention but the SP LaX game pits 2 undefeated teams itching to get in the top 3 of the WIAC. The P-ville Stout game, did Stout catch St. Thomas looking towards St. John's or are they for real. P-ville's. defense played their best game of the year last week but who will start at QB could determine Platteville's season.
