Hmm, I was wrong about UWW over UWO. I tried.

Great game Titans. The offensive domination over UWW was something I've never seen. Mt in 2015 was close, but today takes the cake.
600 yards of offense.

UWW is up against it next week against Stout.

In the hypothetical situation proposed:

UWW will have a win vs. (ranking TBA) UWO and unranked Wash U. Losses to current 19 IWU and current 21 Concordia-Moorhead.
UWO will have a win vs. unranked John Carroll and a game that basically is meaningless, plus a loss to (ranking TBA) UWW.

Presuming IWU does not beat Wheaton ... one could make a valid claim that all four of these teams should be in the high teens to low 20s.

We are probably all familiar with the ditty about 'assuming''.  I'll leave it to you to invent the ditty about 'presuming'! ;D

WHAT AN UNBELIEVABLE FINISH!!

Not trolling. Just curious. When was the last time UWW was 1-3?

1999 -- same answer as 0-2.

I think you know why I presumed the result -- to post about both results, both of which were very possible, would have made that math even more confusing, and this ain't your board.

Touche' :D

I gave IWU only a tiny chance at winning the game, but can you really deny me an opportunity for just a BIT of gloating?! ;)

I'm sure there are many thousands of folks who are grateful that the board is yours, not mine! ;D

Oh -- by that I meant that it was the WIAC board, not the CCIW board. I didn't mean to play the "my board" card.  :-\

palum

It was good to  see Eddy back at QB for Platteville today, he was a difference maker.  If Platteville deserves their #12 ranking then Stout should stay in the top 25 this was one hell of a game. It's going to be a wild WIAC season this year.

I was soooo hoping you were right, but this game went pretty much as expected. A top 5 ranked team beating down a non 25 team at home. Well, hopefully we can finish strong, not scare away any recruits and do better next season.

WW

Hard to know what to make of LaX at Point. Eagles dominated but Point is down it's QB1, Guard and RB. They can't get Williams the ball.

emma17

IMO LaX will be a challenge to every team given the ability of Yaeggi.

UWW at UWO horrible stats:
UWO 31 first downs to 13 from UWW.
UWO 69% on 3rd down conversions to 44% for UWW.
UWO with nearly 600 yards offense. UWW not bad at 411.
UWO 83 offensive plays to UWW 48 plays. Talk about a role reversal.
UWO no interceptions, UWW 3.
UWO leading receiver with 10 catches and 207 yards and 2 TD. UWW leading receiver: One with 3 catches and two with 2 catches.
UWO 1 punt. UWW 4.

This kind of result indicates issues throughout the team and program.
I'll focus on two.
-Cole Wilbur continues to be slow in decision making, which leads to the interceptions imo. His throws are late, missing the brief window when the receiver is open.
-UWW defense has not had an interception in four games. 125 passes thrown against the D, not one interception.

Not my board, but I do read.
No comment on the Water woes.

QuoteSo what's the problem, we all have hamstrings

I made the decision to quit playing pick-up basketball with 19-20 year-olds at age 55. Looked around my friends and I realized I still had knees.
Strained, sprained and tore my hamstring after my wise basketball decision.  I did not know you could hurt the hamstring so badly that it would never heal.  I quit running and jumping after the tear.

QuoteA finding that you are "permanent and stationary" (P&S) means that, in your doctor's opinion, your condition has plateaued to the point where additional medical treatment is not likely to improve your condition. It also signals the end of temporary disability payments.

When I tore the hamstring the ER surgeon told me I would have been better off breaking my femur. Only help for the hamstring was elevate and rotate ice and heat. Seven boring weeks in an upstairs bedroom.
I always wince now when I see a sprinter pull up in a race.

No injuries!

UWO Titan 78

Great to see nearly 6,000 at Titan Stadium on Saturday. I know a lot of those were Warhawk fans, but it was still nice to see. The Titan offense is the real deal. They had great run/pass balance all day. I don't watch the Warhawks on a weekly basis, but I follow the board. There is talent on the team. The oline is very good. They sustain blocks well and pass protect pretty well. The have skill at the wide receiver position and RB. The difference I see from this team and those dominant teams in past years it they don't have a difference maker at the QB position and they don't have difference makers on the DL. I think not having those DL difference makers is actually more problematic. They've always had multiple guys that can win the one-on-one battle, both on the interior and the perimeter. This took a lot of pressure off the LBs and DBs. The Oshkosh OL is good, but I don't think they are as good as last year yet, and they dominated the LOS. I thought the Titan D did a phenomenal job in the first half, and only a few defensive breakdowns in the second half kept them from earning an A grade. You can never look past anyone in the WIAC, but Platteville in a couple weeks will be fun. Cerroni and staff do such a good job against teams that are one dimensional, so it will be interesting to see if Platteville has enough balance offensively to beat the Titans. LAX and Stout should be really fun down the road too.

emma17

Great summary Titan 78.
I was hoping you'd say the UWO Oline is better than last year given the way they dominated the UWW D line. I know the D Line is inexperienced so that plays a role. Coach Bullis has mentioned repeatedly that they are incredibly fast, but that doesn't help too much if you can't just tee off on a pass rush. Which leads me to tha UWO offensive game plan- the coordinator did a tremendous job. UWO did everything right, mixing power runs (I'd love to know how many yard Hecker gained after contact) with bubble screens, intermediate routes and the occasional deep (and deadly) ball. The D had no idea what was coming.
It's hard to say if UWW would have been better off opening up the O in the first half as they did in the third quarter, given the interceptions. I'd say they should have. At this point, UWW cannot be afraid to run its full offense.
Wilbur has a strong arm but much like the Bears' Glennon, he waits too long to release the ball. Does he lack confidence in his receivers to get open or does he just not process the play?

I hope UWO stays healthy throughout the regular and post season as I think their offensive power and diversity should challenge any team.
