Discombobulating

The word "discombobulating" is confusing to me.

That's certainly understandable given the amount of exposure you had to the 2017 UWW offensive plan.

This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and ignore Emma in it!

Good change

I approve.

UWL had the second highest scoring offense in the Wiac last year. As well as the best passing offense. Good hire.

As an outspoken critic of the UWW offense the last three years, it would be disingenuous of me to pretend I'm not excited for the next chapter. That said, I do hope Coach Smith lands with a team that his style is better suited for. I'm sure he's extremely knowledgeable and has a lot to offer the right program.

As for UWW's new offensive coordinator, Jake Landry, welcome to the Warhawks!! Warhawk nation is ready for a return to balanced production and hopefully, for my own preference, ball control through 3rd down conversions.
At UWL, Jake had both a tremendous QB(s) and WR the last couple of years so the offensive production was bound to be good. I'm not sure UWW has the star level players, but they've got the linemen, the running backs, an experienced QB and some quality receivers, that all came to UWW to compete for National Championships. Coach Jake gets to put it all together and I can't wait to see how he will run the O.

I'm ready to roll.
U Dub Dub, U Dub Dub, U Dub Dub.

Add me in, too.  Last  year the offense was average at best and subpar way too often.  Here's hoping we see some life ....
What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!

So you might actually become a real fan this year? You know, the kind that actually comes to the games?

How do you think the change in OC will impact recruiting? I believe Smith was also in charge of recruitment. If you're a player on the fence, does the change at OC influence your decision?

Great point. I wonder who the torch gets passed to now for recruiting.

WW

If his title was "recruiting coordinator", that doesn't necessarily mean he was in charge of recruiting. IMO it would mostly affect the guys he was directly recruiting. Most schools divide it by area codes and assign a staff member a given area code, further split if necessary by volume -- I believe UWW does it this way too.

Hard to say how it affects a player on the fence. If Smith was "your" recruiter, I'd say negatively. As much as you tell a kid that you're joining a program and selecting a school, it's awful hard to disconnect that from the guy who's been the primary instrument in selling that program and school.

To a kid who's being recruited by another staff member, I'd say minimal effect. Offensive philosophy is still gonna start at the top.

Veracity

I think it will have a positive affect on the recruiting. Younger coach. Recent success at UWL. I know the returning players are excited and I'm sure that will translate into a positive recruiting experience.

Hey Veracity, I very much want to trust the veracity of your post when you say you know the returning players are excited - and so I will trust you. Very encouraging.

Also, I want to give a tip of the cap to Coach Bullis and I assume the administration. Making a move like this has very personal implications. Coach Bullis is a family man and it must have been very hard for him. I thank him for putting the program and players first.

On the flip side, I wonder if any offensive players that were planning to enroll at UWL might reconsider now?

Hopefully Landry can bring to UWW what Kotelnicki brought when he came here. The players really seemed to respond well to Kotelnicki. I really hope the same thing occurs with Landry.

WW

I'd expect Landry to reach out to the best of the UWL prospects he'd been recruiting, even the "commits" who haven't yet put down a deposit. All's fair.

That's cold, but you won't hear me complain.   :-X
